New Far Cry Project Beta Video Showcases the Full Mutant Roster From the E3 2003 Build

A team of modders is currently working on a mod for Far Cry that will restore the pre-release content of its earlier builds. And, a few days ago, the team shared a new video, showcasing the full mutant roster from Far Cry’s E3 2003 build.

The modding team claims that old, early versions of the game’s levels will be brought back and improved a lot. Some levels that were removed from the game will also return. The same goes for weapons, vehicles, and enemies. The enemies will have brand-new 3D models and smoother animations. Because of this, even longtime Far Cry fans will feel like they’re playing something new.

As mentioned, this new video shows the enemies that are coming back. Each mutant now has its own special weapons, behavior, and brand-new detailed models. The team also made new textures and custom voice sounds for each one. This will help make them feel more unique while still staying true to the original characters.

Project Beta has been in development for over a year. Unfortunately, there is no ETA on when it will be released. If I had to guess, I’d say it might come out in late 2026 or 2027. That’s assuming the team continues working on it.

Speaking of Far Cry, I also recommend downloading this VR Mod for it. Then we have Far Cry Beta Restoration, which, as its name implies, attempts to restore content from the game’s beta build. Then we have Far Cry Advanced Version, which adds support for multiplayer, including a Battle Royale Mode. FarCry Returns is also a cool upcoming unofficial sequel to the game. Finally, you can download this HD Texture Pack that will overhaul all of its textures.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. Far Cry 1 in general was a poorly designed, glorified beta for Crysis. NES hard BS difficulty; no save anywhere; x-ray vision enemy AI which completely broke stealth.

    1. Loved it. Played through on the hardest difficulty with no healing. There's No challenge in today's games with everyone save scumming.

    2. I am not gonna defend far cry 1 issues, it has problems but i enjoyed far cry 1 far more than crysis which i hated, poorly designed glorified tech demo is what i would call cryis, the combat is downright terrible and the ai is so buggy, the levels are linear and the stealth is a invisibility mode that if you cross the street it runs out, in fact every power sucks, maximum armor is terrible as it runs out with 1 hit of assault rifle burst attack and then you look behind you and you see your blood on the wall, 2 and 3 does armor much better turning you into a slow tank. The speed mod runs out too fast, would be fun if you could quake it with speed, but no, strenght sometimes fails and doesnt do much damage and the jumps you do with it are predesigned, the game sucks compared to many fps with abilities we got both before and after it, from jedi knight to doom 2016 and shadow warrior and rage 2. As for far cry having x ray vision? That might be a bug, the steam version has a problem, someone changed some material that was used on the buildings in the first level to the material that tents use so ai can see you through walls, this was fixed in the gog version. In far cry 1 always crouch it increases accuracy and lowers your visibility, lean around object sand take pot shots with quick bursts with the m4 and use the binoculars to autotag enemies. None of this works in crysis, everything feels ineffective and then you but the nanosuit enemies who are utter bulletsponges and your explosives dont kill them fast enough before they regenerate so you must headshot as many times as far as possible for maximum dps, if this isnt poorly designed i dont know what is. Or the missile launcher that takes 3 exact shots to destroy your tank while the enemies are impossible to spot hiding in bushes, might as well ditch the tank and go on foot switching to cloak and unswitching to recharge constantly, yawn. Also the missiler launcher some times bugs up and fires 4 shots instead of 3 so you get one extra shot, you cant drop it so you have to fire all shots to pick another one and reload, meanwhile 2 and 3 had one shot missiles you could carry plenty of, again badly designed, or how the machineguns are super innacurate and overheat constantly, yeah crysis 1 sucks. The sniping sucked too while in far cry the sniping was awesome.

  2. aside from the annoying little worms the rest of the enemies are better than what we actually got, also this game originally had a g11 in it, but they removed it. Why?
