IGN recently released a video showing the first ten minutes of the upcoming DOOM Eternal by id Software. The game has already been delayed once, because according to the developers they want to polish the game even more in order to deliver the best experience. We already informed you that DOOM Eternal with not have microtransactions. Also the game will not feature real-time ray tracing any time soon.
Players once again take on the role of the Doom Slayer, an ancient warrior who battles the demonic forces of Hell, from a first-person perspective. The game continues its predecessor’s emphasis on “push-forward” combat, encouraging the player to aggressively engage enemies in order to acquire health, ammo and armor.
The player has access to various firearms, such as the Combat Shotgun, Super Shotgun, Heavy Cannon, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Rifle, BFG 9000, and the Ballista. Melee weapons such as a chainsaw, the “Crucible Blade” energy sword and a retractable arm-blade can also be used. The arm-blade provides the opportunity for a larger variety of quick and violent “glory kill” executions.
The Super Shotgun is now equipped with a “Meat Hook”, which slingshots the player towards an enemy, functioning as a grappling hook in both combat scenarios and environmental navigation. A new Equipment Launcher with the ability to lob grenades and ice bombs that also dons a Flamethrower that provides armor from burning enemies is now part of the Doom Slayer’s armor. New movement mechanics such as wall-climbing, dash moves, and horizontal bars to swing from will also be introduced.
You can watch the gameplay video below.
Rip and tear, until it is done. Doom Eternal will be released on March 20th.
Chris was born in the early 80’s along with the very birth of home gaming. After spending many maaany drachmas on arcades, his father decided to buy him a PC instead of going bankrupt. He lived through the advancing and development of the gaming industry, having played TONS of games on all platforms. He is always honest and will never hesitate to give his true opinion on a game no matter what. Loves stealth games and dislikes microtsansactions, DLC and pre-ordering…who doesn’t after all?!

I was expecting the game to start with Doom slayer breaking out from his captivity…looks like will have to wait for the game to release t know how he managed to do that.
i dont think they skipped that, i think this is how the game starts. Kinda sad, i wanted to learn more, how did he get to that citadel? Who knows. I dont like how weapons are now quake 3 pickups.
Yeah I don’t dig the whole quake-isk weapon picks up either. Maybe the prologue is hidden somewhere along with their story DLCs
dev say there is plenty of lore to pickup and read that explains the story.
That sucks
am sorry do you prefer endless cut scenes?
No was looking forward to playing it through even if it meant to be a short level instead of reading it.
Ditching Megatextures POS tech is a good reason alone for buying this. Hopefuly there will be some awesome mods this time!
looks awesome!! and the release date is my birthday!! woohooo!!
Nice! You are going to have one hell of a party!
crack rdr2 first.
pff no, crap game.
everything is crap to you.
look whos talking.
i mean i only dislike weeb games, sport games, walking simulators, racing/driving games , adventure games and souls clones. you’re on a whole another level.
so you hate anything that isnt a shooter or a rpg?
no. i listed genres that i dislike. where do you get this?
Acceptable article, Chris Kuntouras. Looking forward to a sharp nose-dive with the next one.
With Cyberpunk and Dying Light delayed, all the roads lead to Doom Eternal. Bring it on!
ign with actual good gameplay… MnK instead of controller at that. Maybe they do have some people that are actual gamers over there.
Edit: I meant in the sense that the person playing has an actual brain and good reaction time. Usually ign gameplay looks like an 8 year old is playing the game.
And not only that, they used k+m instead of retarded gamepad. That’s an achievement!
What are you talking about? This guy is missing half his shots.
This is a huge step up even if he isn’t hitting half his shots. Still better than missing 90% of his shots with low controller sensitivity.
This game looks really good I really want this to come very good like the 2016 one or better
blur and dof, nuke them from orbit. i couldnt watch it anymore after gameplay began.
The constant influx of popups like spoonfed info about enemy weakpoints, weapon mods, weapons floating in the air like in multiplayer shooters and weapon tutorial crap from Rage-2 interrupts the flow of combat not to mention godawful acid HUD. Yeah you can change the colors of the HUD (a la Bethesda Fallout games) but the confetti of multicolored ammo pickups still remain.
The need to overexplain every little detail leads me to bel???? that this game is marketed either towards prepubescent kids or people with learning disabilities.
P.S. Where are the animations of picking up guns that were strategically placed in the game world either in the hands of a dead guard or just on weapon box somewhere. Instead we get this floating rotating green (LOOK HERE, PICK ME UP) crap.
P.P.S. Bethesda actually managed to ruin the game with the godwaful hud, spoonfeeding info like the game is for toddlers, floating weapon models, slow movement and combat, artificially decreasing the ammo count pushing you more towards using those dumb glory kills which again ruin the whole flow of combat.
Yep I remember the NoClip doc where Hugo said that the first level in DOOM (2016) was meant to represent the whole gameplay loop rolled into one small arena and if you can beat it (and like it) then you’ll like and beat anything that comes after.
2018 QuakeCon UI and overall flow of the game played with the mouse and keyboard (the first public gameplay footage) was a true successor to DOOM (2016) after which they were surely given an objective to make it more console-friendly. And it does make sense considering Doom Eternal will be available on Nintendo Switch for god’s sakes.
Very impressed with what I just say….its safe to say at this point, it’s gonna be a F**KIN BLAST!
Looks, sounds, and potentially plays better than DOOM 2016…
