Mundfish has shared a new video for Atomic Heart, showcasing ten minutes of brand new gameplay footage from it. This video introduces us to Hedgie, a giant mechanical ball boss that players will fight.
As its description reads:
“This brand new gameplay captured by developer, Mundfish, gives us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming action RPG’s robotic enemies and their abilities. Showcasing some of the skills and weapons players will have at their disposal when this FPS launches next year, this intense fight demonstrates just how challenging Atomic Heart’s combat is. From taking shots with an arsenal of powerful weapons to hacking away at Hedgie with an axe, here’s a taste of what’s to come.”
Atomic Heart is an action-packed first-person shooter set in the alternative, retro-future version of the 1950s USSR. The game will allow players to level up their weapons and abilities, and there will be both crafting and looting systems. Moreover, it will have some puzzles that players will have to solve.
As we’ve already reported, the game will support real-time ray tracing effects. Furthermore, PC gamers can download an RTX tech demo for it.
Mundfish will release Atomic Heart on February 21st, 2023.
Enjoy!

This boss seems to be fairly aggressive, which is a good sign. And that Mick Gordon soundtrack is sounding pretty solid so far. Those unique game over animations are also a nice touch.
Some of the weapon sounds could be a bit better though, especially the AK. Sounds too muffled IMO. Also, I really hope we can turn off all that visual noise, like the dirt on lens, low health effect, and the intensity of the motion blur. Makes it kind of hard on the eyes. The low quality footage didn’t help either.
Overall I’m still optimistic about the game, but I’m definitely keeping my hype in check.
everything is muffled here from the animations to the damage to the sound to the movement.
Lol, the AK is like silenced or sth!
They better fix that before release or they are gonna be killed for that!
The game looks great overall, but the weapons are horrible. That muzzle flash is straight out of Postal 2. Crap. Audio also bad for the AKM.

Please have an FOV slider..
I’m concerned at how these devs will gain money due to western sanctions.
Vodka + Slavic Magic.
And Mick Gordon of course.
Mick Gordon? I didn’t know he was involded! Good! Gooood! (Palpatine voice)
I will be honest, i am sorry but wtf is this crap?
“-future version of the 1950s USSR”
Yet everyone has modern hipster haircuts.
“the combat is challenging”
you mean sluggish? Whatever ign just sucks i guess.
“the footage was captured by the devs”
crap. Then this is it, combat sucks ,weapons suck and are generic, enemies are bulletspongy, movement is sluggish, abilities suck.
What is that “level warning” did they turn it into a rpg like ubisoft games?
Also generic heavy metal or rock music, does not fit the setting.
Man what a downgrade compared to how it was once it was announced.
KALINKA !!
This demo was definitely played by game journalist lol
has no idea how to keep distance
Or… My fear is that… the boss fight is visually spectacular but dumb/easy in gameplay, and the devs played it like that to make it look like it works.
In fact, that’s my fear overall with the whole game. Idk… Something smells in this game…
Like, visually/artistically, the game has proven itself to hell and back, but it’s all surface level footage.
We don’t get shown or told ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING ELSE about the game or mechanics or systems at all, like that’s all behind an impenetrable veil.
Watched a whole interview with a dev about the game and it was all personal fluff, AGAIN, NOTHING.
How many AAA and or indies are visually spectacular with too little underneath to sustain that?
Not my first rodeo. Someone’s very intentionally hiding something here.
we will see bud . Its getting closer to release more gameplay snippets to come !
it’s like it its gameplay is hidden behind an iron curtain, imirite?
Well let’s hope they release it before Putin manages to start a nuclear war.
there is a reason why you are like that movie s title in your dating career it seems
The art design and the art graphics look amazing. But im affraid the game will be very demanding and will ask the most fastest hardware of the moment
And that is thee formula of a true PC game my friend!

If these are to be believed we should be good.
some of the articles they push down our throat are laughable, from ukraine has basically destroyed more russians forces than entire european nato nations to russian troops fight with ww1 weapons, who are basically militians in ukraine who are pro russia and when the war started there was footage of ukranians with mosin nasgant and lewis guns.To the latest clownshow article that about half of the iranian kamikazi drones deployed by russia are now gone, isnt that the point of iranian drones? They are getting slaughtered in Kherson and media is silent about it.
I dont care, and no morons i am not pro russia, i am just tired of all the pro ukraine propaganda shoved down my throat on every news site. To you morons this is ukraine “home of democracy and freedom” vs evil russia fascism or whatever, because you are brainwashed by the media. To me its 2 stupid and corrupt eastern european countries cheeki breeking it.
they are being decimated in their offensive at the frontline…the russians just pull back if they need to and shell them with everything they have…there are many western mercenaries also…dont use morons, because not everybody is on same wave as tv propaganda, there is propaganda in russia too, the invasion was i think either too much, or too late, its obvious Putin wanted a quick sweep in kiev with paratroopers but somebody spoke and the batallion was ambushed and taken out…personally i think its still again peasant vs peasant, but ukrainians are being manipulated into thinking the west really care for them…when the western elites care only for their resources at least
That boss is adorable, but a mean machine! 😀
One of the very few games I am really looking forward to playing!
All the brain(washed/dead) people can keep their sheep mentality and views to themselves and s**k it!
unreal 5 is unnecessarily heavy….will be a problem for all gpus and consoles to run
i hope this was a 3090 playing…or forget about dlss quality in unreal engine 5
I’m pretty sure it’s Unreal Engine 4. And it’s a cross-generational title, so I don’t think you’ll need a 3090 unless you’re playing at 4k with ray tracing. You can try out the RTX tech demo of the game that John posted in the article. Mind you, that demo is over 3 years old now, but it might give you some idea of how the game will run on your rig.
i think its unreal engine 5…and if there is a catch in the 4090 presentation it is that they showed no unreal 5 engine games i expect non excellent performance even from 4090s running it

It’s UE4, they talked about how they’re not going to switch to UE5 earlier this year: https://wccftech.com/atomic-heart-q-wont-switch-to-ue5/
somewhat good news…maybe at least 30 series can handle it
downgrade
Russians saving the FPS genre once more.
A more interesting boss fight than any CoD-kiddie shooter, but can’t overlook the fact that while everything – from graphics, art style, game play & design, game world, music, interaction, story etc. – have improved massively, NPC-AI has stagnated for 15 years in 99 % of video games.
If this boos fight would even be in the slightest realistic on hardest difficulty, it would grab the player with it’s big arms and spin him into the air.
Approachingt that ball without stunning it before would be a no-go.
There need to be some sort AI-revolution, with a company like havok releasing a basic AI-framework and training models for different kind of games, like shooter, strategy, sports etc. which the developers can use and built upon on.
Or Epic games centralizing some technology.
If every game developer has to train his own AI-model and make a basic framework fora specific game, it will be a costly pain in the buts.
And why the heck a comment get pre-censored here now? Because of “pain in the a*s”? Hmm, well whatever 😀
