Diablo 2 First Person Unreal Engine

Fan is remaking Diablo 2 in first person using Unreal Engine

Now here is something really cool. YouTube’s ‘I Make Games’ is currently remaking Diablo 2 in first-person mode using Unreal Engine. To showcase the current state of the project, the artist shared a short but sweet gameplay video that you can find below.

In a way, this first-person remake of Diablo 2 reminded me of the Hexen and Heretic games. And you know what? I believe a first-person take on the first classic Diablo games would be a cool idea. However, this is something that Blizzard will never explore.

This short video shows the barbarian fighting some zombies and demonic imps. There is a basic HUD featuring a working XP bar, skill slots, potions, and a stamina bar. It’s also worth noting that, as you will see, the fan remake already looks and feels great. It’s not perfect. But the enemy hit reactions and animations are pretty solid. The attacks do not feel floaty, which also a big plus. And things will get even better from here.

If I had to guess, I’d say this fan remake of Diablo 2 will never see the light of day. This is most likely a project for portfolio purposes. Still, this is something cool that some of our Diablo 2 fans may appreciate.

The YouTuber said that he will share more videos and details as the project progresses. Needless to say, we’ll keep our eye on it. And let’s hope that we’ll get a playable demo of it. As I said, I doubt we’ll get one. But hey, never say never.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few months ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this cool fan remake of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Let’s also not forget this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Oh, and don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive.

You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9, and this HD-2D Fan Remake for Xenogears. Moreover, here is a fantastic fan remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.

Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground also have some awesome fan remakes. There’s even a fan remake of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation that features Angelina Jolie and Christoph Waltz. But that’s not all. Fans have also made remakes for Star Wars: Republic CommandoDeath StrandingFallout 4Grand Theft Auto 4Need for Speed: Most WantedFallout 4Resident Evil 1, and Silent Hill 3’s Lakeside Amusement Park. A former Infinity Ward and Wargaming artist has also remastered Half-Life 2’s train station intro in Unreal Engine 5. Oh, and there’s a video showing MGS2’s iconic intro in UE5.

Enjoy!
