-Severe downgrading
PC specific changes:
-Even more downgrading
-Bring parity with conslow versions
sorry that some of us got low pcs and some even consoles i guess we are not worthy of playing any games
Did he said anything about weak hardware of yours (or anyone)? The problem is, that Witcher 3 was made at first for PC, then CD Projekt got their hands on Xbox one and… Well now they know how powerful consoles are. One thing i don’t understand, you have company of 250 people in it, working on a game. Why didn’t you made console versions apart from PC?
cause you saw the game and its horrible yes i understand
Apparently the game is not horrible, seems to be very good, it doesn’t however fix the fact that they tried to deceive players with the early demos and showing of graphical abilities that will not be ingame, due to parity with console development. It was their choice, mine is to keep my money and not spend it on games from developers who trie to deceive people, especially a company who is only where it is right now due to PC gaming, from the previous two games.
u say deceive players, they say make the game available to more players , i say why judge by its cover when you have not seen inside
deceive indeed, is exacly what they did, and what Ubisoft did with Watchdogs and Assassin’s Creed Unity in terms of graphics, and Bioware did with Dragon Age Inquisition in terms of PC interface and playability. It is deceiving to say and show one thing, saying it does that more more, looks much better and performs so much better, and then see the reallity, that it was all bs.
well to be fair bringing Witcher and Dragon Age to Ubi’s level is kinda harsh. let’s hope Witcher 3 supports mods to a good extent so we can expect quality graphic mods. if PC interface and playablity sucks we can in worst case go for a controller like Dark Souls 1 (i finished even Dark Souls 1 with keyboard though but still).
well at least Ubi seems to be honest with Syndicate graphic-wise but let’s see if it is a bugfest or not.
I bought Dragon Age Inquisition, and played 100 hours of it, on hard with friendly fire on, and got 48 out of 50 achievements, and I can still tell you I regret having bought the game, from a company who was also created by the PC crowd, like CD Projekt Red aswell, and now treats PC as an afterthought, and blantantely lied about how DA Inq was being made especially with the PC in mind. Then it came out, and a developer admitted to me in their public forums that the vast majority fo their QA testers, played the PC version with only the controller, and not the mouse and keyboard, because they were already used to it from having to test the console version. So yeah, they lied, not about the looks, the game looks pretty much like the demos, but in terms of PC gameplay, it was adressed as an afterthought, and months after the release was still being patched.
It was a good game, eventhough I prefered Dragon Age Origins BY FAR, both in terms of PC controls, gameplay and story and mood. But I do not like being deceived, that’s why I already cancelled The Witcher 3 pre order.
go somewhere else we don’t like your smug peasant kind here
but i like it here when i see people raging for a game they have seen vids only and not seen it for themselves, haha love you <3
Yea. It does look horrible actually. I hate to say it, but i don’t even like how it looks anymore. I like the new Dragon age a million times more. At least the Witcher 3 will be a fun game. Thats the only saving grace it has.
cause they dont have the manpower or the time to do that, and the current technology allows them to deliver the game to 3 different systems?
That was ofc a design decision, but make no mistake, it’s also because the new consoles are still in their early days, and they are already too weak to perform as good as all the early demos of next gen games showed they would be, and seeing that most of these games are making more money from the console version, they don’t want the PC version too look that much better, because they will lose money if most people want to play it on the PC, because many will just pirate it.
However, they should take into account, that debacles such as this one have repercursions, and their furture as a company who is all righteous and truthfull and all agaisnt DRM, will suffer from decisions such as this one.
The hell you are talking about? Are serious, there is 250 people working in CD Projekt… Don’t have manpower, my a*s.
On PC you could always , you know go to Options and set to medium or low.
Downgrading the game did not help the low end users it just gave the middle finger to the high end ones.
and yet you haven’t even seen it for yourself and you judge it
like I said, we don’t need to see it, the CDPR Managing Director has said it himself, the PC version is the console version in every way, only with better AO and fur simulation and physix from nvidia, all else from nvidia was removed, and they admited it was, look up the youtube video “E3 witcher nvidia” and you’ll see what they removed and the big difference, On top of that, they said that the textures and draw distances are the same on all platforms, which is ridiculous and only for parity due to the consoles. People with low to mid end PCs can ALWAYS lower the settings and play well, while giving the people with high end PCs the chance to enjoy it with the full potential, and even to in the future enjoy it with better cards. Take Attila Total War, there is no PC able to handle the extreme quality right now above 30 fps, but in the future there will be, however, right now you can just tone down the settings to your PC and enjoy or pick whatever you want more of or less of, more quality or more performance, more frames or more FX, and that’s how it always should be for PC.
You are moving goal posts now.
Nvidia’s promotional screenshots talked by themselves
You having low hardware should have no effect on the high or ultra settings at all. That is what the low settings are for: those with less hardware.
Play on low settings. There are graphics options for everyone. PCs are not Consoles.
The update is said to be about 500mb. So not that much.
they completley underestimated the weakness of the consoles. and of course, they decided to go the PARITY way to not upset anyone, but developers dont realize that it upsets pc gamers. why can you not f’ing use the power of platform? why go for f’ing parity? -s4 doesnt go for f’ing parity, they go all out and stomp x1. its f’ing stupid, but whatever. bought the game already.
There will be a flood of comments talking about the “downgrade”. I’d to refer to an article on dualshockers where the author makes valid points.
Development is always ever changing (as with all products), I don’t a disclaimer saying “this is alpha footage” to let me know that it’s what the game looks like at it’s current state, what they “plan” to have it look like in the future
Devs aren’t selling you the game that was shown at 2013 e3, they’re selling you the final product
The game will still “play the same” with/without the textures shown at 2013 e3
He makes other points as well but yeah. Stop whining about “textures not looking the same as before” (and the PC version isn’t even out yet, so you’re all comparing alpha footage to alpha footage with compressed vids)
maybe Devs shouldn’t show what they aren’t selling then. i can’t wait for Witcher 3 and still love CDPR for free DRM policy they have, but can’t blame the hate cause they kept talking about being PC first and then this happened.
It was alpha footage. Any footage before the “final build” is subject to change. And they did show what they were selling, just with slightly different textures. It’s still the same game as before.
But how alpha can be better than final build? Will Windows 10 technical preview will be better than Windows 10 final?
Draw distance, grass, tessellation were nerfed.
How much of it can anyone say was “nerfed” when the final PC version isn’t even out? As I said earlier, you’re comparing one alpha build to another. Yet you or anyone else make claims based on everything other than the final build.
Did you read the article where CDPR admitted they removed all the advanced effects because the consoles can’t handle it? Let’s see then if all those effects are on the ultra setting, really let’s wait.
I think I read that somewhere so yeah I do know about that. What I’m trying to figure out is how does relate to the final PC build (it even has advanced options that the consoles don’t). Most of the footage we’re all getting is from YouTube. Not the best place to display any games effects or graphics really.
Well let’s see if ultra settings lives upto what they’re saying or it’s a big fat lie.
mate I can show you a crap video from a crap camera showing off the nvidia fx that were in the game as show off, and you can see the difference, they just aren’t there at all. go to youtube and look this up “E3 2013: Witcher 3 Nvidia Effects”. NONE of that is going to be in game, thay have said it won’t.
jesus dude, people are complainning because it’s official, there is an interview from the Official Managing Director at CDPR saying that there is indeed parity between all version of the game, that the draw distance is the same for all platforms, as well as the official textures. You don’t need to trust the people who are complaining, look it up, its official, and they have said it.
If I remember correctly, they had already stated a while back that they aimed for parity on all platforms so that’s not new. So people are mad that the “console” version doesn’t look the same as a “PC build” from 2013? Watch Dogs I understood a little (though it seems to be the same situation here) because it’s reveal and gameplay was from a PS4 build and they disabled a crap load of graphical features. Yet the point remains the same.
No, people are mad because they downgraded the game because of consoles, and decided not to invest in making the PC the way it was initially shown, because it can look like that, they just decided to remove all those fx and make the draw distance the same for PARITY, which is ridicullous and to me, unacceptable.
I’m positive they invested a load of effort and time into this game (I’m sure you’ve read some of it’s features in their tweets and articles). As i said before, we haven’t seen the final build. We haven’t seen it in 4K yet. We haven’t seen it’s full capabilities yet. Or am I just completely in the wrong?
I’m sorry mate, I wanted that to be so, but the devs themselves have said it, the PC version will only look marginally, better, the textures are the same, the draw distance is the same, the water the decalls the models, are all the same. They said the PC version will only look better due to resolution, frames per second, some better AO, HBAO+ on nvidia, and you’ll get Physix on Nvidia aswell and Hairworks. Nothing else. There is nothing of what they showed in the demos, no real water tesselation, no flexible water, no semi volumetric clouds, no forward lit soft particles. Really, look up the E3 witcher 3 nvidia demo, none of that will be in the game, appart from a downgraded fur simulation of what is shown there, all else was completely removed, all of wich was always shown in the first demos.
Ah well most of that does sound amazing and I’ll look up the video once I get the chance (probably one of the few things I missed about the game). Though I can’t see most of those playing any drastic part in the actual gameplay. The gameplay itself won’t be much different even with their removal. Some aren’t even going to play it because it doesn’t “look the same” and if that’s why then wonder what types of games do they play.
I’ll still hold final judgement until the game is out and I play it on my rig and 4k display.
Like I said, the game will still look awsome, the gameplay shouldn’t change much if at all regarding the downgrades, and I’m 100% sure the game is awsome, in terms of story, characters, rpg elements scope, etc etc. I loved the first 2, and this one seems even better. I just don’t like being deceived, especially due to console parity, from a company that was made into what it is, by PC gamers.
that’s what downgrade means. alpha footage looking better than final build. as i said, they shouldn’t have shown that. easier that way. most games are downgraded anyway it is nothing new. doesn’t mean it is right at all though.
What Techland did to Dying Light was a downgrade on PS4 (though an update fixed that). The difference between these builds are textures, which look more cartoonish than the e3 one. That’s not a downgrade, that was a change in development which they preferred (consoles would probably be another reason).
So devs aren’t allowed to show the “current” progress of their game now?
they are allowed to show whatever they want and we are allowed to judge them based on that. nobody said anything about getting cartoonish. look at all the cartoonish Skyrim mods and how much they are popular. here though somehow, getting cartoonish made it look worse cause changes that happened here are more than just getting cartoonish.
You’ve clearly not seen how they have downgrade the geometry, removed the nice post processing mood like TW2, removed all the tech from the 2013 demo.
TW2 final build looked way better than the alpha footage they showed, not it’s the opposite because of the weak consoles.
Funny how alphas look better than final game when the game is multiplat but exact opposite thing happens when the game is PC only. As you said, Witcher 2 look way way way better on launch day than it did one year ago during E3 reveal. The fact is, devs overestimated the power of Consoles.
And that’s the truth right there, multi plats and console games are just filled with deceiving lies and promos. Now take Star Citizen for example, it looked awsome in the first videos, and eventhough the game is not out yet, me and several other thousands are in the alpha, and it just keeps looking better and better.
Lol dualshock.
he was damage controlling, also he is a PS4 fanboy, of course he is not upset about downgrade cuz his platform is not capble enough to run that
Hope UI optimization includes some opacity options.
People who were holding their breath for this patch to add graphics effects must be disappointed now. Sh*t storm is coming after 5 days when we’ll finally have retail product in our hands. People who have already accepted the downgrade will be last to be upset. Those who are still waiting for a miracle are in for a big disappointment.
I accepted the downgrade but I am gonna play it, I simply cannot hold myself from several hours of gamplay, customization, choices and consequences, and Triss and Yennefer ( ?°?? ?°) if available).
Same here. I have accepted the downgrade. Was disappointed with it but still going to play the game. People who are damage controlling will be bombarding their forums with hateful comments after 5 days.
it’s the other way around mate 🙂 damage control is done by the ones from the company, trying to avoid as much spam hate and downgrade disapointment threads as much as possible, I know that for a fact, as I’ve been banned from their official forums, without having insulted anything or anyone.
Not to mention, Mods on those forums are worst mods of all time. You can’t even have a good discussion.
it’s just another Watchdogs or AC Unity, only this one comes from a company and a decision that most PC gamers weren’t expecting. That and that this game seems to actually be much better than the other two, graphics aside, apparently it is a VERY good game.
Unity always looked great. This is more of a Colonial Marines/ Watch dogs kind of thing. At least the game will be fun, unlike the games we mentioned here. 😛
True Unity still looks great, but not as great as the early demos, and is filled with bugs still. Watchdogs was just too downgraded compared to what they showed previously, might even be a bit worse than Witcher 3 in that field, yet some people still enjoyed it, but comparing to Wticher 3, seems like Witcher 3 is a lot better game all in all.
Colonial Marines well, lets no go there, that was everything bad in a game, from downgrades, lies, bugs, crappy gameplay, crappy graphics, crap game end of story.
If Witcher 3 was as downgraded as Unity, I would’ve been happy with the final product… But Witcher 3 looks like a completely different game now. It’s like night and day. The difference is even bigger than Witcher 2 on PC and Xbox 360 IMO.
Yeah.Unity was more of a bug infested game. It did look great for the most part. Watchdogs had its moments too, but it was downgraded. It was obvious too. The fire got nerfed, the lightning got nerfed and a lot of other things got changed. The Witcher 3 is going to be a great game, if not one of the best RPG games ever made. I’m just talking about the gfx here. No doubt, anyone that loves RPG games should go out and buy it. I know i would.
Colonial Marines.. Yea. Lets not. 😛 The game was boring, didnt look as good as you said and the story was mostly a big joke. The DLC had a bit more interesting story, but even that wasn’t too amazing. What i meant was how companies show off a game, and later on.. it turns out the game that they showed is not even close to the final product (in whatever way? Gfx or gameplay) The Witcher 3 has that problem with the gfx, but at least the game itself will be the same. 🙂
Just gonna leave this here…
What leave? Have you posted the link or something? Can’t see any,,, yet.
EDIT:
Now visible… Yeah man. The game looked jaw dropping back then. Look at the city, NPCs, horses, visuals, art style etc. It felt like CGI movie.
There’s a .gif attached, I’m seeing it now. Maybe you’ll need to click on it to trigger the .gif transition between the 2 screenshots. Is it visible now?
Now it’s visible.
yeah nothing showing so far.
I see it now…. nice comparison, but please don’t tell me it’s that different, they look exacly the same… just kidding… look at the Fing difference man…
the only deference i see is different time of day, loool
Nah it’s just youtube compression and they have locked ultra settings inside a chest and protected it with a magical lock. They’ll open it on release day.
Holy Mother of God. That is the worst butchering of a game I have ever seen.
No. They just made it so it wouldn’t kill your PC.
it’s like completely another game. man they screw it up. i want this atmosphere to be in my game not dumb down mickey mouse version
unfortunately, screen space decals, forward lit soft particles and realtime reflections were completely removed form the game, it wont ever look like that, even with someone uses Sweetfx, and tones down the brightness and the colours 🙁
forward lit soft particles made the fire looks so amazing. I wonder why they didn’t include those to the final game..
Yeah that fire animation made me drool, and if not for the console parity crap, it would have been awsome to look at, even if only on beast graphics cards.
…because spending resources for something that doesn’t run well on the consoles didn’t make sense to them.
I refunded my GoG preorder.
It doesn’t make sense to me, either! If they’d kept it like it is in that screen, they’d be spending even more on optimization, (Which has it’s limits on how much performance it can gain. even a game optimized by the gods can’t run on a $25,000 PC if it looks just like real life even on the distant LoD.) and yet loosing the majority of their market, including all PS4 and XBox One users, and many of their PC users, who’s systems exceed both minimum and recommended, and still can’t handle the “Dumbed down” graphics. Not everyone can spend more on a PC than on a new car. Honestly. Since code only effects performance to a certain degree, just getting it so that enough people could play it to break even on the investment, not to mention turn a profit, required removing effects that were just too much for a good gaming PC.
1) I don’t want to have to buy 4 GeForce Titan X Video Cards, a 3000MHz 128GB DDR4 memory kit, an i7 5960X, a quartet of Sata-Express SSDs in RAID 0, a chassis big enough to hold it all, 15+ Delta fans at around 60db each and six 480mm radiators to keep it cool, a 1600 watt PSU a $500+ Mobo to support it, and big spike in my electric bill to run this game.
2) optimizing code only goes so far. The demo wasn’t run on a typical system. You want graphics that look that good? Maybe they’ll make a point-and-click game for you. Pre-rendered scenes don’t take a lot of power. The game is bringing my system to it’s knees, and it’s not some shrimpy dell. I have a hand-built gaming rig worth about $3000 when new. I doubt what’s in that screenshot would run on yours.
Day and night… cant believe it.
Ah yes the ambitious DirectX 9 version… If only this game was PC-only like Crysis or Witcher 1 – would be a different story. 🙁
Don’t blame CDPR, blame the Xbone.
Curse them all.
Blame no one besides you having a graphics card from the year 3000. That demo was clearly on a monster-of-all-monsters PC
One thought that MAY bring some solace… A while ago CDPR said they would release their Red 3 Engine/W3 mod tools eventually…
All I noticed was – Support for DLCs
Don’t whine about graphics until you’ve optimized a game yourselves, people.
really u think 250 are enough to create a game like witcher 3? for 3 different game systems?? haha
