Nvidia Finally Officially Speaks About AMD’s Mantle – Will Not Support It, No Real Benefit Using It

On MaximumPCMagazine’s latest podcast, Nvidia finally took a stance on AMD’s Mantle. MaximumPCMagazine invited Nvidia’s Distinguished Engineer Tom Petersen and Senior Director of Engineering Rev Lebaradian who shared their thoughts about it, and confirmed that Nvidia is not part of it, will not support it, and there are – at least to them – no big benefits from using it. Computex TAIPEI 2014 – AMD Showcases Performance Difference Between DirectX & Mantle

During Computex TAIPEI 2014, AMD showed off the performance difference between Microsoft’s DirectX and Mantle, and today the red team released a video from it. AMD used an AMD FX-8350 8-core CPU with an AMD Radeon R9 290X and the performance difference in Starswarm was around 50fps. While Starswarm ran in particular scenes with 2-4fps via DX11, the same benchmark on the same hardware ran with 55fps under Mantle. Enjoy the video after the jump! AMD Catalyst 14.6 RC2 Driver Released, Comes With Performance Improvements In Latest Games

AMD has released a new set of drivers for its graphics cards. According to the release notes, AMD’s Catalyst 14.6 RC2 driver comes with performance improvements to Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. In addition, the Red team has implemented various Crossfire performance improvements for Watch_Dogs, Battlefield Hardline and GRID: Autosport. AMD Catalyst 14.6 Beta Drivers Officially Released, Drops Support For Windows 8

AMD has officially released a new beta driver for its graphics cards. According to its release notes, this is the first driver that does not support Windows 8 (from now on, all AMD Catalyst drivers will no longer support Windows 8). This means that PC gamers will have to upgrade to Windows 8.1 in order to take advantage of newer drivers for their graphics cards. AMD Catalyst 14.4 RC Driver Out, Fully Supports OpenGL 4.4, CrossFire & Mantle Improvements

AMD has released the 14.4 Release Candidate driver for its graphics cards. According to the release notes, this new driver brings full support for OpenGL 4.4, packs various CrossFire and Mantle improvements and supports the latest dual-GPU from AMD, the Radeon R9 295X.
