Reddit’s member ‘Kajmel1‘ has shared some comparison screenshots between the digital and the real locations of The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter. Do note that the in-game shots were captured from the commentary trailer of the game that was released a while ago (which basically explains their somehow low quality). This comparison proves that the in-game environments resemble the real locations on which they were based on, so kudos to the development team. Enjoy the shots after the jump (on the left we have the game’s images and on the right the images from the real locations). In unrelated news, kudos to Bruno Henrique and Harris Iqbal for the new header banner they had provided us with!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. Got some Half Life 2 feelings in image 3. Waiting pre-load to avaiable!
It looks pretty good, but not nearly as sharp as reality (not many things are). I suppose they’re going for a specific mood rather than absolute realism, but I wonder if modders can increase the contrast, exposure, and sharpness to make it look far more crisp and real.
It’s not even close… Unless you have some pretty bad eyesight or a shit monitor. I see the similarity in scenery but that’s where it ends.
I agree, the game still looks great though.
Guys is not about the photorealistic graphics ,that wasnt what this article was all about ,its about how they adapted the places ,they look nearly the same.
Well in that case they did a pretty good job. LOL I thought John was doing another real life to game comparison and failed miserably. I was gonna start clicking ad’s all over the site so he could afford some glasses.
precisely that 😉
Real life looks so beautiful… that post process in game is too much imo , and lighting seems garbage , but what to expect from a game that’s coming on console as well…
it’s Henrique but no problem, you’re welcome. Next one will be at Christmas now 😛
fixed 😉
I still have no idea what this game is about.
First real life picture looks like something from CryEngine
the trailer was really Awesome but now when I see the Real vs in Game………. it’s nowhere near the real thing 🙁
i hope this game is fun to play not just to look at, right now i have a feeling it’s going to be something like Murdered Soul Suspect and that’s not good.
Grass and trees are stock files.
Stock files are useful for short periods os production but kill creativity.
But is a nice game!
Still nothing can beat STALKER when it comes to similarity talking about real places. Also what really makes the world look authentic is the proper scale of things, lighting and colour palette.
This game looks cool though. These guys never wanted to achieve photorealism after all.
