BioShock Fan Remaster in Unreal Engine 5-3

The original BioShock looks incredible in Unreal Engine 5

Former Halo: Infinite developer Kaleb Nekumanesh has shared some cool screenshots and a video. These show what a modern-day remaster of BioShock would look like using Unreal Engine 5. And, as you can tell from the header, they look amazing. So, let’s check it out.

To create this fan remaster, the artist used Megascans and custom Materials/Models/Decals he created. To speed up development, Kaleb also used some Marketplace Assets.

The end result is amazing. This fan remaster has retained the art style of the original BioShock. It also manages to significantly improve its overall quality thanks to UE5.

Now I’m not certain, but I think this fan project uses UE5’s Lumen. Or at least that’s the vibes I got from it. Either way, this BioShock in Unreal Engine 5 project looks glorious.

For those who don’t know, Kaleb Nekumanesh is currently working on a free Halo game. We don’t know when it will be ready, but he plans to release it soon. However, there are no plans to release his BioShock fan remaster to the public.

Speaking of Unreal Engine 5, you should also check out the following fan projects. For instance, you can find some faithful remasters of Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, which are super cool. A few months ago, we also shared an amazing remake of Toy Story 2. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Then there’s this fantastic fan remake of STALKER that’s worth a look. Oh, and don’t miss the Grand Theft Auto 6 fan concept in UE5; it’s pretty impressive. In February 2024, we also shared fan remakes of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and GTA 3, as well as an Uncharted fan game. We also have a fan remaster of Unreal Gold in UE5. You should also watch the full-on remake video for Final Fantasy 9, and this HD-2D Fan Remake for Xenogears.

Need for Speed Carbon and Tony Hawk’s Underground have also received some cool remakes. Oh, and there is a fan remake of Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, featuring Angelina Jolie and Christoph Walz. And if that’s not enough, there are fan remakes for Star Wars: Republic CommandoDeath StrandingFallout 4The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s SolitudeGrand Theft Auto 4Need for Speed: Most WantedFallout 4Resident Evil 1Skyrim’s Winterhold and Silent Hill 3’s Lakeside Amusement Park. 1. NONE of these things you post are remasters. They arent remakes. They arent anything.
They are little PROJECTS made by singular people who are not able to create the systems around it to make it a functioning game.

The stuff you post as remakes are always at their maximum a Deviantart or Behance project, which of course you know.

    1. not even projects, a single level, actually no not even one level 2 rooms of a bunch of assets with good lighting, id rather he made aritcles of mods instead of this, at least mods are something you can play.

    2. What to expect from an nvidia salesman. A copied link from youtube and then he writes what goes in his dumb head.

    1. biosht infinite SUCKED, it was about politics of racist america, the story was trash and it felt like they stitched together cut content and released it as a game and called it a day, elizabeth talks over the audio log you picked up, as if the level designer and person who put the audio log there were on a different planet and not in communication with each other. The levels were super linear to a point i had to go down an elevator, find a key, go back up the elevator that is basically a hidden loading screen because the x360 and ps3 couldnt render large maps with those impressive for the consoles graphics and then go back to the chest in order to open it. The game suffers from what is typical today, picking up every piece of crap from the ground to slightly upgrade your weapons and powers by spending alot of money, the weapons sucked, the semi auto rifle started powerful with alot of recoil and by the end of it due to the upgrades and the constantly more bulletspongy enemies it had zero recoil with barely any damage, also no enemy variety or any interesting situations, the game felt like multiple step downwards from the older games, its like everyone who made system shock 2 left the studio. Then you got the unhinged anti white hatred and anti christian hatred written by a jew, after all most characters in bioshock 1 are jews and this is what the game is about, jews not fitting in american 1950s society because they are degenerate leftists so they started the cultural revolution in the 60s and the prn industry. This is what bioshock is about not objectivism. Which brings me to my next point, i love sci fi, but judas, as the enemy implies…..a little on the nose there eh ken levine? In the system shock trailr the first thing you see is a planet and the space station, this is what the game is about, in judas however the first thing you see is a interacial marriage mural…this is what the game is about. Not sci fi, which is why i dont give a damn about judas. Id rather replay system shock and prey. Id rather play neuro hunter, id rather wait for core decay and retro space. Id rather wait for lonely space or peripetia or replay fallen aces or wait for ahanasia and gloomwood, so many immersive sims, why would you bother with judas after how bad biosht infinite was?

  2. I remember having to patch the original BioShock to get it to run. Did they claim you had to be running Win98 at the time?

      1. I can’t remember clearly but something about the shader model used which turned out to be a lie.

        1. I tought you where talking about having to run this game with win98 compatibility mode (i remember having to do this with a modern japanese game because of course).

  3. hey john instead of covering unreal engine tech demos that will never come out? How about cover what i am sending you such as ashes hard reset that did come out or the crew server emulator and all the other stuff i send you?

  4. Since this is such a corridor game, wouldnt CryEngine be a better fit? it produces beautiful results and it doesnt have even half the stutter issues UE has.

        1. notice how clunky the shooting animations look in star citizen, it was the same with crysis back when it came out, notice how buggy star citizen is, it was the same with crysis when it came out, or how the ai behaves weird and forgets what it was doing, same when crysis came out, also its not made to make open world game as its streaming is not the best so you get horrible performance, star citizen had to heavilly modify it. the physics are pretty buggy too and finally there isnt enough documentation for it so most of the time you cant figure out how to do the thing you want to do in this engine.
