STALKER 2 gets new 4K screenshots & in-engine trailer

GSC GameWorld has released a new set of 4K screenshots and a new in-engine trailer for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. These new screenshots show off some of the game’s amazing environments. Not only that, but they appear to be showcasing Unreal Engine 5’s Lumen lighting system.

In June 2022, GSC GameWorld delayed the game to 2023. Then, in August 2023, GSC GameWorld stated that STALKER 2 was targeting a Q1 2024 release. But then it was, once again, delayed until Q3 2024.

STALKER 2 will be using Unreal Engine 5 and promises to feature incredible graphics. Back in June 2021, the team also shared the game’s preliminary PC requirements. Do note though that these PC specs do not represent the final ones.

Contrary to other Unreal Engine 5 games, STALKER 2 will be also available on Steam. According to its Steam store page, the game won’t have Denuvo. So, that’s good news for those who boycott the games using it.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl promises to have a huge, realistic world to explore. You’ll get to wander around a massive 64-square-kilometer radioactive zone. This zone will be filled with all kinds of post-apocalyptic environments. Not only that but players will get to decide how their story unfolds. Additionally, the devs claim that the game will have a highly branching epic story.

STALKER 2 will have a dynamic day-night cycle and weather system. The game also promises to have an advanced AI, and a life-simulating system “A-life 2.0”. Furthermore, there will be modding support, as well as a multiplayer mode (which will be added soon after release as a free update).

Finally, GSC GameWorld plans to release the game on September 5th.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. Hopefully this is a propper sequel and not just another Metro like game. I really enjoyed the original STALKER games.

    1. Exactly my take and let’s be honest here, it’s not gonna be like the originals, it’s gonna feel casualized, smoothened, beautified and with unnecessarily cutscenes with faces taking half the screen like a Metro or CoD.

    2. Exactly my take and let’s be honest here, it’s not gonna be like the originals, it’s gonna feel casualized, smoothened, beautified and with unnecessary cutscenes closing in on faces like a Metro or CoD.

  2. It’s nice to see the iconic locations from Shadow of Chernobyl, plus they’ve added Vehicle Cemetery which was one of the best fan made location from Anomaly mod.
The only Red flag about this game is the lack of proper gameplay trailer.

    1. People who got hands on a few months ago said it was quite buggy but not something to be worried about.
Probably during the Xbox event in June we will get some kind of long gameplay walkthrough.

      1. ‘Quite buggy’ has been a staple of these games so that’s not a good sign, games of old tended to be feature incomplete at that stafe but not very buggy. So, it’s worrying especially knowing of its troubled development situation, so it doesn’t help qualm anyone’s anxiety. So, knowing about that whole context and that they haven’t reached the point of having the confidence to show some real extended gameplay at this stage, yeah, be honest to yourself, it’s really concerning.

    2. It wasn’t fan made, it was an unused map that got restored, same with Dead City.
Other mods already had restored it, Anomaly simply added it from those restoration mods with it’s own touches.

  3. Another “trailer” with slideshow. Still no real gameplay.
Also… Very realistic and immersively accurate is the fact that the guy has a perfectly shaved beard, in a post-apocalyptic world, especially in the Zone where everything wants to kill you and eat you.

  4. I don’t know what to think about this game. I just spent a couple of minutes reading some of the history on it and the development has been turbulent all the way back to 2010 when it was first announced.

I really want this game to turn out well. I thoroughly enjoyed Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat. Hope it does but I’m a bit skeptical right now.

    1. How old are you, Stalker series always had a “turbulent” dev cycle, dev hell and risk of being vapourware. Hands down one of my fav games.

  5. Hopeful, as I loved the STALKER series…but..

After all this time, there’s still no:

    Detailed walkthrough of inventory management
    List of potential inventory items
How armor will effect your player how many armor sets
Do weapons still degrade, and do you need to fix them?
Does this game have LEAN like the old STALKER games? I’m guessing no, even though it really should have it.

I’m really looking forward to this, but a love letter to the old fanbase would be greatly appreciated at this stage.

    1. this game is a sequel to stalker 1 not anomaly misery or gamma, remember then when it comes out and you are dissapointed.

  6. I wonder if Ukraine stans are still mad about GSC owner still selling his wares on Russia of all places. Real Sidorovich vibes.

    1. Your right! It more closely looks like the 2002 no one lives forever! Textures from 2002! Upgrade! Another win for Ukraine and not a receding of earlier material! Just like the war they are taking back ground and pushing forward every day!

  7. Id be surprised if this comes out in the next year or two. If it does you know alot of stuff got cut and alot of anti russian stuff was added. Last I heard of this either it was rumored or admitted microsoft is heavily helping out or finishing it, If Im not mistaken. Mite bee kewl. Doubt it though.

    1. What’s your problem with anti Russian stuff? Russia is waging a genocidal war against Ukraine, so the developers are supposed to react how exactly?
Several GSC developers have been killed by Russia, and several are serving in the military still.
As far as “anti-Russian”, all they did was removing Russian VO, the game is just more focused on Ukrainian culture rather than wasting effort on being anti-Russian.

      1. Russia is defending itself against Western terrorism. Citizens dying is a collateral damage in order to achieve a greater goal.

    2. yeah this is accurate, they moved some of the studio in czech republic and renamed it to shornobyl.
