Elden Ring releases in a few days and some YouTubers have been streaming the PC version. As such, you can find below the PC graphics settings that the game will feature.
As we can see, the PC version will allow you to adjust the quality of Textures, Anti-Aliasing, SSAO, Depth of Field, Shadows, Lighting, Effects and Volumetric. There are also settings for Reflections, Water Surface, Shader, Global Illumination and Grass.
As we’ve already reported, Elden Ring will not support framerates higher than 60fps on PC. However, FromSoftware plans to add support for Ray Tracing via a post-launch patch.
Lastly, Bandai Namco has not provided us with a review code. As such, we won’t have a day-1 PC Performance Analysis. We’ve already purchased the game and we’ll be testing it once it comes out.

Why do game developers think it’s OK for Anti-Aliasing settings to be high/medium/low/etc. rather than naming them after the Anti-Aliasing method in use? It’s important to know what Anti-Aliasing methods are actually in use, that way gamers can get used to which ones they do and do not like. It’s also important to have an “off” for Anti-Aliasing for those who hate all of the Anti-Aliasing methods the game implements, or those who prefer to use resolution scale or NVIDIA DSR as a form of SSAA.
Remember…it’s From Software!
There is no reason to ever use anything other than TAA. It is the best anti-aliasing and it makes all games look great.
I detect some potential sarcasm there, but just in case you were serious note that TAA (Temporal Anti-Aliasing) blurs out visuals, and makes everything look horrible and blurry. I’d rather use SMAA (Subpixel Morphological Anti-Aliasing) or MSAA (Multisample Anti-Aliasing) which produce a significantly clearer picture. If I had a powerful enough GPU I’d even rather use SSAA (Super Sampling Anti-Aliasing) or an increased resolution scale to simulate SSAA, as this is the absolute best Anti-Aliasing you can get.
All professional artists and developers disagree with you and think youre wrong, which is why all games use TAA.
Most games have an option for TAA. TAA is known to have the tradeoff of blur in motion depending on implementation. There are ways to mitigate this, of course. And MSAA is generally still used in animated movies because its just better. Many modern game engines no longer support MSAA due to moving over to deferred rendering rather than forward. Also, MSAA has a large performance hit when compared to other methods. TAA is extremely prevalent because its the best performance to visual fidelity you can really get.

Yes, SMAA is way better, especially compared to FXAA, but why many devs neglected the AA is a bit confusing for me.
Because they can be lazy and blurry AA methods like FXAA and TAA will cover it up. TAA also allows them to cheat on performance tweaks by downsampling/subsampling (rendering at a lower resolution) certain effects like shadows, subsurface scattering, and even hair and then the TAA makes these effects look normal due to the way it blends multiple frames together.
This use of downsampling for certain effects is the reason many people complain about “shimmering” in games, and why they think TAA is superior since it covers this up. The reality is that if more people saw games that didn’t downsample effects and didn’t use garbage AA like TAA to cover that up, then more people would realize why TAA is a terrible form of AA.

It’s from software, they could lock it at 23 Fps and it would still sell like hotcakes. They can do no wrong man. DX9, 23fps & No KB+M support and it would probably sell even more than normal. Man, I remember the first PC version of dark souls where modders can fix almost all of the problem without knowinf the source code that From Software unable to do. We should analyze what each setting does and make comparisons. Most of the time Ultra gives very little visual improvements over Optimized (a mix of Medium, High and Ultra) settings.
