Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s FB fan page has shared some new comparison screenshots between the Original and the Remastered versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, showcasing the graphical improvements that have been implemented to it. The Original screenshots are on the left, whereas the Remastered screenshots are on the right. Enjoy!

Instead using a blurcle
Call of Duty: Blurry Warfare.
Luukin guud!
They should have remastered Call of duty 3 instead, as it was never released on PC in the first place. WTF would I care about this game I played in 1080p max settings almost 10 years ago ? Please tell me why.
Well… It does look a lot better. And I have never played it. But if you play online, this may revitalize the community. (Assuming its dying or dead, don’t know. Not a CoD player)
Well the cod 4 community is probably bigger then the blops 2 community now.
Still alive & howling hard.
Hopefully they don’t do something stupid like segregate the Remastered & Vanilla fans. If they don’t, this’ll be a welcome breath of fresh air. If they do….. Yeah, have fun counting those very minute piles of cash there, Activision.
They will segregate them. completely new engine for remastered, sorry.
Damn >.< Cheers ^^
DICE who makes Battlefield 1 told Activision that this remastered version looked like something from 2010!
I really don’t care what DICE who makes Battlefield 1 says. I’ve worked on quite a few games. DICE’s frostbite 3 engine is great, yes. But I do not understand your point in hating on this game. Graphics do not make a game. I’ve heard many good things bout CoD 4 and I’m excited to give it a try. Maybe I can learn from it and use that knowledge while working on crafting new games.
Because it looks better???
Not by much. DICE who makes Battlefield 1 told Activision that this remastered version looked like something from 2010!
DICE did not say such a thing. CERTAIN employees FROM dice said the Infinite Warfare trailer looked terrible. Nothing to do with the remaster.
Infinite Warfare trailer looked great (A Star Citizen rip off?) but COD 4 looked horrible, like there had been no f**king effort at all in the remastering. Maybe they can sell it to console gamers but not to me as I have played it in 60/1080 already.
ok?
OK!
CoD 3 was nowhere near as popular as CoD 4, though.
I agree, it would be nice to return to WW2, but financially CoD 4 made a lot more sense.
Financially speaking wouldnt a game that was never made for PC make more sense? Why would anybody like to play a game we played almost 10 years ago in a sudden make sense? Infinitive warfare interests me unlike COD 4 which I played in 1080, nope this remaster was made for consoles.
Well, the answer’s basically in the question, really;
“this remaster was made for consoles.”
Consoles drink up that Remaster cool-ade like water. PC in this case is an afterthought, we’re just getting it to maximize profits.
Besides, to be fair, nobody remembers CoD 3 compared to CoD 4. It’s like saying “we’re remastering Battlefield Vietnam, instead of Battlefield 1942, or 2142.” Who even remembers Battlefield Vietnam anymore.
looks like vaseline was smeared on COD4 :/
Not going to lie. This actually looks pretty decent.
Keep in mind it’s the same game, the same experience, but go ahead and support them… You should know it’s a TRAP & next year COD: black ops 4 + Modern Warfare 2 Remastered for 120$…
Already have the game once, don’t feel like purchasing again. Although the remaster may have it, seeing the performance benefits to Arma 3 and DayZ by going to DX11, I wonder if the remaster will have that as well.
It will certainly be dx11.
Only costs $79.99
eBay ;D
I hear they’re independent coupon keys.
If not, well, it won’t be long before Activision caves, anyway.
P.S. Look at the bright side; it’s not UWP-exclusive >.>
Jesus man, give UWP a chance. Sure, it does have problems, it can be frustrating and prices in some countries are ridiculous, but also do you remember how bad Steam was when it came out? Look how much it has evolved.
One major difference: Valve didn’t have multiple decades of “f*ck you, consumer” as its company history.
Seriously, Microsoft’s literally been prosecuted for their anti-competitive tactics – they push into new markets by acting all friendly, cozy up to existing consumers & customers, & then, once they get a foothold – bam! In come the intrusive changes, monopolizing maneuvers, etc.
Remember the Xbox One at E3? They only backed off once we collectively told them to go F*ck themselves, along with Sony’s “Giant Middle Finger” presentation. It’s the same thing here. If we bend over & take UWP up the *ss, it’ll only get worse in time, not better.
Look – I’ll be more than willing to give UWP a chance once Microsoft actually proves they’re not trying to do the same thing they’ve been trying to do time & time & time again. Until then, why assume they’ve changed? The Microsoft mindset is, & has been for decades now – “we’re superior to you, so f*ck you & bend over.”
The original looks better, theres an overuse of bloom in console games nowadays that I hate, everything looks like glossy plastic.
The remaster version does look nice, you can tell they’ve come a long was esp with lighting being much more realistic. But what is surprising is how well the original has held up considering its 9 years old. I still remember when I first played it, the rain effects, lighting all of it was just awesome when you’re boarding that ship. I’ll probably end up grabbing remaster, but will find a discount, don’t see paying $80 at all
Still can’t believe this COD 4 IS BACK! Wooooh
Where it left? COD 4 servers are still on and rocking, sadly, some people still refuse to play legit…
More bloom, shadows and better textures. The real question, ARE HACKERS GOING PERMA BAN? because since this is the only COD I play im tired of hackers!!
.
in the first picture i prefer the stronger rain in the original
and in the second picture the riffle barrel lacks camouflage in the remaster
and in the fourth picture i prefer the ambiance and artistic feels of the original
For me this remaster makes little sense. It has better graphics, but so what? Knowing the whole story, you’ll be devoid of surprises and excitement, which are way more important than visuals. Even IW doesn’t give a damn and shows spoilers on those comparison screenshots.
You’re right, Infinite Warfare will be even worse. But it won’t make this remake any better. We play games, not comparisons.
In my opinion, the first Modern Warfare was good back then, because it showed something original. It was also over-the-top (though a bit less), but for the first time it was a good thing. Now, when the industry is oversaturated with showiness that puts even an ADHD version of Michael Bay to shame, CoD4 doesn’t have really much to show. I mean, it’s a one-trick pony. It’s only good at over-the-topness and the story. If you know the story and are fed up with tons of explosions, the game is a rather trashy and short shooter.
I dont like depth of field and I alwasy turn that off, but besides that graphical improvements are just insane. For example in 3’rd comparison screenshot old COD looks like smartphone game compared to remasterd version, there’s amazing difference when it comes to lighting quality, textures, and character models. On videogamer I have found even more screenshots with better qualuity (not so compressed) like here.
Modern Warfare could easily make my perfect game list, would buy on a sale
Dude this is a weak argument. I’m not sure if you noticed but every company does things like this. Have you ever checked an Apple PC? They come with Safari browser. Same thing with iPhones. Stock android phones come installed with Chrome. This is just the nature of business. It isn’t shady……..it is just giving the consumer an option. Had they not wanted to use IE they could have downloaded a different browser if they had wanted to. You just sound jaded to me and looking for a reason to hate the company that doesn’t make the console of your choice.
Nice of you to ignore my second post, which provided far better examples of Microsoft’s monopolization strategies.
Apple’s done this, Sony’s done this, Samsung’s done this, Amazon tried to monopolize eBooks as well for that matter – hell, most every Tech company’s done it in some way, I readily admit that, no problem.
Sony’s no “White Knight” indeed, but (while it is an “oldy” argument, it holds steady) as we can see with their E3 presentations, Sony is considerably more pro-consumer than Microsoft (or at least appears to be).
Hell, Sony didn’t even have a “play online subscription” on the PS3, even after Microsoft introduced that onto their X360. Sure, they did add one to the PS4, but only almost a decade later, & (arguably) only because Microsoft did it first without being drowned under a sea of backslash waves against it. Since people went along with it the first time, Microsoft did it a second time, & Sony followed suit.
Not exactly a nice move, I for one don’t like it at all, but I understand the thinking behind it; financially, it makes sense. “If the competitor’s doing it, & people are accepting of it, why not?” I mean after all, at the end of the day they goal is to make money.
Not to say that Sony hasn’t done their share of d*ck moves of course, as has Apple, as has….. well, you get the point, but yeah, in a straight-forward ranking of “Who’s more consumer friendly, Sony or Microsoft?” Sony wins hands down any day.
IIRC the Xbox One’s architecture is similar to the X360’s, which permits easy backwards compatibility (even if not very good – see Halo Reach on the X-One for example), whereas the PS3 had that unique “cell” hardware that the PS4 doesn’t have, making it harder to provide compatibility between the two systems.
Hell, even when the PlayStation 3 first launched, backward compatibility with the PlayStation 2 was only possible because they put a PS2 inside the PS3, thus increasing the console’s price substantially. I agree it sucks, but at the time the cell tech was superior to the X360’s, unfortunately.
Problem is, Microsoft has sold something like ~21 million Xbox One’s (no official numbers, just agreed upon estimations), whereas Sony’s sold (confirmed,from official numbers) 41 million PlayStation 4’s. Microsoft is literally crawling on all 4’s to increase interest in their failing platform, because they basically have to. These massive investments they’re making into exclusives, they weren’t paying off very well on the Xbox One, so they started moving them over to the PC. That’s great for us, I agree, however;
Will the situation hold? What if next year’s “Xbox Scorpio” reinstates their lead over Sony? – The same lead they had for a long time with the X360 over the PS3, I might add. How will they treat PC gamers then? Will they revert to their old “yeah, we care about PC Gamers” claims, all while delivering absolutely nothing to prove that?
Even now, all these UWP ports, they’re coming to us on their terms, with their restrictions, which they don’t seem at all interested in lifting, no matter what they claim about “UWP games coming to Steam.” Look at the Windows 10 push – extremely anti-consumer practices, extremely intrusive practices, & some downright hackware-level moves (like turning the “x” button into an “I consent to this installation” thing) all to increase their ever-failing adoption rates in order to meet their ridiculous “1 billion devices!” goal. We’re supposed to trust these same people with absolute command of UWP? Shoot me now…..
Sorry, typed this up days ago & never hit post.
The cut is nice, but if that was all this is about then Microsoft would just have done their own version of Steam, just like EA did with Origin.
Instead, they specifically went out of their way to create this walled-off garden, when it wasn’t strictly necessary. Unifying all the “Windows platforms,” that was a smart move, but creating UWP in its current form, that was about control.
I think their UWP position depends on how much the Xbox exclusives actually sell for, though. Sure, the Xbox One is outselling the X360, but how much are the exclusives making them? As long as the exclusives don’t make decent money, it doesn’t matter how many people buy the hardware that doesn’t make them any money in the first place.
Or really, in general; how many people are actually buying XONE games, by comparison to X360 games? Let’s not forget, the X360 sales numbers were constantly inflated due to the various underhanded tactics Microsoft used, like the Red Ring of Death.
