Unreal (1998) Just Got an RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod Demo

Unreal fans, here is something for you. Modder’mstewart401′ has released a demo of the RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Unreal 1998. This demo is almost 10GB in size and covers the first 14 levels. As such, it’s a must for pretty much all those who want to replay this classic FPS.

This mod will make the classic FPS look way better. It adds full ray-traced lighting, realistic shadows, cool glowing light effects, and fog-like lighting. It also uses special materials that make surfaces react to light more realistically – like shiny metal, rough stone, or soft skin. Some parts of the game world have been upgraded too, so everything looks more detailed and modern.

In the mod, most of the new textures were made using RTX Remix’s AI tools. The modder also used NVIDIA’s assets to replace trees and plants and to add grass in outdoor areas. To do this, mstewart248 used a tool called UnrealED to place fake objects that they later turned into grass. They also used UnrealED to add new lights in places where the original game had glowing things like blue crystals or torches without real light sources.

Now, since this is a demo, it does not reflect the quality of the final version. Still, this looks better than the previous RTX Remix Mod we shared back in February 2024.

You can download the demo for this new Unreal RTX Remix Mod from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a video for it. This will give you a glimpse of what you can expect from it. So, be sure to watch it.
