We’ve said a lot of times that cut-scenes and quick-time events should be avoided. A couple of days ago, we informed you about Crytek’s plans for Crysis 3 and in that story, we expressed – for one more time – our opinion about the quick-time and scripted events. And we are happy to see the developers of Amnesia: The Dark Descent backing our claims. According to Frictional’s Thomas the biggest culprit for the lack of agency in most horror games are the cut-scenes. Damn straight right. Oh man, now that’s a true classic game. Crystal Dynamics’ Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver has been re-released on GoG and is priced at 5.99 euros. As with all GoG titles, Soul Reaver is compatible with both 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. In case you have not played this classic game, players take the role of Raziel, one of Kain’s lieutenants. Raziel has been “blessed” with something no other vampire has, wings. Kain, being evil and jealous vampire, punished Raziel for this gift. Jealous Kain tore off Raziel’s wings and cast him down into the Lake of the Dead. A millenium has passed while Raziel lay forgotten before he is brought back to existence by The Elder God. He becomes a soul reaver with one purpose and one purpose only: to kill Kain. Ah, the good old days of Quake 3. Those frantic deathmatches can’t be easily forgotten and a lot of gamers are currently enjoying them via Quake Live. However, it appears that some people wish for a next generation version of iD’s best multiplayer game. Well, we got some bad news as there won’t going to be one anytime soon. When a fan asked for a new Quake 3 game, John Carmack said that it would not happen. The reason behind it is quite simple. According to Carmack, QuakeArena does not translate well to game controllers – due to its fast movements – and is not newbie friendly for a console for a console triple-A title. Therefore, there are no plans for resurrecting or developing a remake of it for current generation systems.
