EA enters next-generation fight: Frostbite 2.0 is built for PS4 and X720

Following Crytek’s and Epic’s statements about their next-generation game engines, Electronic Arts decided to step in and talk about DICE’s Frostbite 2. In an interview with Gamasutra, EA Games’ label executive, Patrick Soderlund, said that Frostbite 2.0 is built for next-generation hardware and that the PC version of Battlefield 3 was just a small treat of Frostbite 2.0’s capabilities. Now this is just brilliant. Warner Bros released the launch trailer of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes that looks epically amazing. Doom 3: BFG Edition gets a release date

Bethesda announced today that DOOM 3 BFG Edition is slated for release throughout Europe on October 19, 2012. DOOM 3 BFG Edition will feature re-mastered versions of both DOOM 3 and the Resurrection of Evil add-on pack, as well seven new levels of content entitled ‘The Lost Mission.’ DOOM 3 BFG Edition will be available in Europe on PC for £19.99 / €29.99 and on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for £29.99 / €39.99. Valve drops Windows XP SP1 support for Steam on August 31st

Valve rolled out a new update for Steam, in which the company noted that the Windows XP SP1 support will be dropped on August 31st. This obviously does not mean that Steam will stop working on Windows XP SP1 systems. However, the company will not provide any help or support when players face problems with it (at a later date). Konami has released some new screenshots for Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 that showcase the game’s soccer player models, as well as some of its stadiums. ArmA III’s E3 PR representative accused of being sexist against Kotaku’s Katie Williams

Kotaku has published today an interesting opinion piece by Katie Williams. Katie attended this year’s E3 and faced a sexist attitude towards her from various PR representatives. Although Katie did not reveal which studios were the ones that had that attitude towards her, she described a game in which she encountered – perhaps for the first time during E3 – that sexist attitude and it seems that this game is no other than Bohemia’s Interactive military FPS, ArmA III.
