CRYENGINE has potential – New indoor scenes blur the line between reality and video-games

CRYENGINE

Man, CRYENGINE has a lot of potential. A couple of hours ago, John shared with you some amazing images from a car model that was created with Crytek’s engine. Well, get ready for some extra CRYENGINE treatment as modder Paravach has presented an amazing indoor scene from a new map. Believe it or not, this is rendered via CRYENGINE, though we don’t know if it’s actually playable on current gen PC systems. Not only that, but you can easily spot some rough spots (as well as the lack of AO on other spots); faults that wouldn’t be present in CG images.  Continue reading CRYENGINE has potential – New indoor scenes blur the line between reality and video-games

Battlefield 4 Beta Bug Turns ‘Siege of Shanghai’ Into An Underwater City

Battlefield 4 v5

Our reader ‘Ghost Rider LSOV’ shared with us a hilarious bug from Battlefield 4’s beta that turned the Siege of Shanghai map into an underwater city. According to ‘EmotionaltroutHD’ who captured it, this bug started at checkpoint A when walking downstairs. The player could not shoot and the bug continued even after being killed and re-spawned. Obviously DICE will sort it out, though it will be a great easter egg to turn this map into an underwater city, don’t you think? Next-Gen Racers Can Achieve CG Quality Graphics With CRYENGINE

cryengine car

CRYENGINE modder ‘Mrick’ has released some mind-blowing screenshots from a car that has been created via Crytek’s engine. According to the modder, all exterior parts have a vertex colors Ambient Occlusion, while the interior parts have an Ambient Occlusion baked in the Shader parameter “Detail mapping” made with the Mental Ray AO and render to texture. Furthermore, the carbon Texture and Body Paint have a second Mesh for the glossy reflection. In short, this car model looks astounding and its level of detail is beyond anything we’ve seen. Now imagine a next-gen title with this kind of car models on highly detailed environments. Let’s hope that devs will start using this engine for their next-gen projects. Until then, enjoy the screenshots! Continue reading Next-Gen Racers Can Achieve CG Quality Graphics With CRYENGINE

The team has promised to release more demonstrations with other games soon, so stay tuned for more. The Steam Controller seems way better than other controllers and surprisingly enough, even strategy games seem playable with it. Yes, even this controller cannot come close to the keyboard+mouse combo, however it seems like the best alternative we’ve seen thus far. Enjoy! Continue reading Valve Demonstrates The Steam Controller
