Fallout 4’s Teaser Website ‘TheSurvivor2299’ Was A Hoax And Nothing More

Fallout

One of the reasons we decided to skip posting news about TheSurvivor2299 was the fact that it looked like a hoax to us. We’ve seen those registry records, we knew that Bethesda would not be using some hosting company in Poland for an official teaser website, and deep down we all knew that this was a hoax. And it just got confirmed.

As the TheSurvivor2299’s creator wrote on the latest update of his/her website:

“That’s all folks. Special thanks to /r/Fallout the most amazing community on reddit for resolving all clues. PSA: YT User ‘Elevated Level’, Butch, Pitor, Liam Neeson and creator of tunnelsnakesrule.com are not responsible for this ‘hoax/rickroll.'”

So yes, most of you were rickrolled. And yes, we were among the first who debunked this Fallout 4 rumor.

“Last week a new website surfaced, claiming to be a teaser site for this new Fallout game and hinting towards a Fallout 4 reveal at this year’s VGAs. Although people started jumping around like little kids, the domain name resolves to 5.133.13.121 which has a reverse lookup of “d13121.vibiznes.pl” and that’s some hosting company in Poland. Therefore it seems unlikely that this website is legit.”

Sorry Fallout fans, but you should have seen that coming. We warned you. The big question now is what’s the deal with that pre-order, listed on Gameware. Was that a result of a ‘fake’ hype or not?

Well… time will tell…
