Wolfenstein: The New Order Comes On May 23rd, Pre-Order Offers Doom 4 Beta Access

It’s happening everyone. Alongside the new gameplay trailer for Wolfenstein: The New Order, Bethesda revealed the game’s release date as well as a bonus pre-order. So first things first, this new Wolfenstein title will hit platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC) on May 23rd.

The big surprise here is that by pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order, players will be invited to access the DOOM beta the moment it becomes available. Yeap, you read that right. DOOM is happening and from the looks of it, it might be a remake or something like that.

According to Wolfenstein: The New Order’s FAQ page, the only announced beta phase for the new Doom title will be this one. The company hints at additional beta tests, although nothing is set on stone as of yet.

“Timing and availability of future beta programs for DOOM is to be determined. The only current way to ensure access is through pre-ordering Wolfenstein: The New Order. We will be providing more information on additional beta tests, if any, at a later time.”

So there you have it, DOOM is still alive. Question now is whether Bethesda will reveal anything at all during this year’s QuakeCon or not.

  1. I just hope it is good. What comes out of ID, Epic and Valve is very important to the direction PC gaming will take for the next 5 or so years. I hope they all come out swinging!

    1. I can agree with Valve, but id and Epic latest PC endeavors… *sighs* gonna paraphrase Yahtzee oh his Spec Ops review:
” Do you remember when shooters were about killing demons from hell? Those were good days.”

    2. ID Software is dead. Major players like Hall and Romero left this company long ago, and now even Carmack has gone. Also it was confirmed that lots of talented people left ID since 2008 during the development of Doom 4, thanks to Bethesda.

Epic is nearly bought by Tencent, who cares only about casual F2P MMO (Fortnite). Everything is changed since that deal. People Can Fly and Impossible Studios were totally raped. Mike Capps and Cliff Bleszinski announce their department. And now they even sold their golden cow to Microsoft.

Only Valve can do something really epic for PC gaming.

  2. Wolfenstein…I replayed the first one like infinite times…hope they don´t ruin this one. If it feels like RAGE at least (old school mechanics mixed with some new ones), it will be good…but with an actual good ending this time not like RAGE of course.
Also I never played the latest Wolfenstein (not sure why), is it any good?

And man, Doom 4…about god damn time.

        1. Good luck in finding the gift then, because AFAIK game was removed from store.

I agree, it was OK, a solid shooter. It’s worth your time, but nothing really special about it. The same I can say about Quake 4 and Singularity (they’re all developed by Raven).

  3. A Doom 4 game would truly need lots of improvements to take it to next level of gaming, something like Doom once did that made it so sensational. For the last 8 years or so there has been nothing but call of duty and clones. Far Cry III was however a great attempt. Now next level please.
