Ubisoft Is Aiming At 60FPS For PC In “The Crew”, Beta Does Not Represent Final Product

Yesterday, we informed you about the 30FPS lock that is currently present on The Crew’s PC beta build. While Ubi-Valentin (Ubisoft’s community manager) said that the team aims for 1080p and 30fps on all platforms (PC, Xbox One and PS4), Natchai_Ubisoft (another community manager at Ubisoft) claimed that the team is actually targeting 60FPS on the PC.

As Natchai said, Ubisoft is currently testing – internally – the PC version at 60fps instead of 30fps. The French company is working on getting 60FPS for PC but did not make any public claims before it didn’t want to ‘make a promise we couldn’t deliver on.’

“The reason you could alter the FPS in the config file is because our team is actually working on getting 60FPS for PC. The reason why it hasn’t been communicated before this is because we didn’t want to make a promise we couldn’t deliver on.”

Natchai concluded that Ubisoft is aiming at a 60fps on PC for the launch of the game and that the actual Beta does not represent the final game.

In other words, the final product – according to Natchai – will be running by default at 60fps instead of 30fps.

The Crew will hit the PC on November 11th!

  1. tbh, its not worth the asking price, the MMO part got slapped on just so they can justify the online DRM, this game has a Singleplayer story, but it feels very cheap.

      1. They took a hint from Diablo 3…. I wondered how long it would take someone to attempt to replicate the retardation that was rampart in that.

  2. Sorry to say Ubisoft but you don’t restrict PC games to anything, other than what your hardware can handle (at least frame rate wise)… “Aiming” for 60 fps on PC is not good enough. Why can’t you just say “There will be support for 60 fps and higher? or “We are too lazy to program it right, so be happy with your 30 fps or 60 fps config unlock” If you really made the engine in such way so frame rate has influence on the game speed like say Need for Speed Rivals, then i’m loss for words…

  3. They better hope the beta doesn’t represent the final product since it’s barely working as is.

  4. Grrr! Why have a frame limit at all? It makes me sad this kind of stuff is still happening in 2014. This is the future, goddammit.

    1. Because their engine is designed for 30fps consoles, so anything above that frame-rate breaks the rendering, in other words, they can’t predict what’s going to render at a specific time. Flawed design for a multiplatform games. Ubisoft release so many games every year with some being the same but different version so they ideally want to steamline all platforms with the same settings. NVIDIA help Ubisoft on the PC side and that’s the only way we get advanced features for the PC.

        1. Sometimes the third-party middleware being used doesn’t gel well with the game engine beyond 60 FPS. Physics can go haywire as in the case of Havok. It’s not always the case, but it’s quite frequent.

    1. + Open World with Big a** Map.
      + Cockpit View.
      + Car Models.
+ Rewarding Exploration (some Forza Horizon Elements)
+ Nice Tuning Options for cars.

      – Same Ubicraps, go unlock tower to reveal more map etc…
      – Always Online DRM.
      – Environment details, graphics.
      – Locked Frame Rate.
      – Uplay. it’s not working.

  5. The reason why it hasn’t been communicated before this is because we didn’t want to make a promise we couldn’t deliver on.

They should have started releasing games with 120fps and 4K support long ago, but they still can’t even promise to deliver 60fps. I need a proper facepalm for this.

  6. Basically what Ubisoft are saying is that have so many multi-platform games being developed, that they want the PC version to be the same as the console version so it’s easier for them up push out games after game every year. Ubisoft expect us PC gamers to pay £49.99(which is £10 more than any other AAA game) for the same experience as the consoles, even when using superior hardware and the PC version is cheaper to make.

Ubisoft, f*ck off, not sure how your company got a bigger PC share but you don’t deserve it with the sh*t you’re pulling.

  7. “Aiming at 60fps for PC”? Does Ubisoft realize that is the same as Ferrari saying “we are aiming at 100HP for our next Formula 1 engine”? This has to be a joke, right, right??? You don’t limit the FPS on a PC game, your hardware/graphics card does that. Let it run as fast as it can, and if my PC can’t reach 60fps then let it be my problem, not everybody’s problem!!! This is a serious turn off and a not-buy for me. I can’t believe that the recent debate for consoles reaching 60fps is becoming something that PC gamers have to worry too. It’s ridiculous at so many levels!!!
