And there is nothing stopping this train. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is selling like hot-cakes, and is currently the best selling title in UK and on both Steam and GreenManGaming. CD Projekt RED’s RPG has managed to top every other PC game, and it will be interesting to see whether it will be able to hold this special place in next week’s charts. GOTY goes to GTA V were everybody can enjoy it at 60 FPS even with crazy visual mods!
i can’t say nothing about Witcher 3 i played a bit …its hard to play at 30 FPS i manage to do it with Watch Dogs but….
Badly optimized? My setup only hits the minimum with some parts, yet i can still play it with some options on ultra, and with the lowest fps was around 25-30, other than that it’s between 40-50.. And i have an AMD card, we didn’t even get a proper driver update for the game.
He’s incredibly biased. The Witcher 3 is a definitive competitor for GOTY, but there are still games to come out, like Arkham Knight. Let’s see.

The optimization is due to Nvidia’s lack of driver support for Kepler to make Maxwell look better.
Not to mention gameworks being used in the game uses directcomput something that Kepler is weak at and Maxwell is better yet.

Citation needed. They are looking into the issues. Clearly it’s a bug.
Far from a bug. The newer gameworks sdk that is used in project cars and Witcher 3 are based on Directcomput which Maxwell is suited for and not Kepler.
Besides I see a little performance from their newer driver coming out but Nvidia did it to themselves making Kepler so weak in directcomput. Heck even a 290X has more power in DC then a 980 does.
But that’s what happens. I mean I never would of thought my 970 would be better then games that use gameworks then a 780 TI.
So you keep saying in every article. You know if it’s properly reported like any issue, NVIDIA/CDPR will look into it.
I guess that is not counting GOG sales either.
I got the game on Steam already. I’ll probably get another GoG copy when on sales.

It’s not about being “whinny little kids” or being “as* lickers”. The world is more colorful than you realize. No one said that the game sucks. People were pointing out the obvious problem that cultist couldn’t see. That’s all.
The Witcher 3 is the most beautiful game I’ve played. For me whining that TW3 is not as beautiful as on the first trailer is not “pointing out the obvious problem that cultist couldn’t see”; it is finding a problem where there is no problem at all. yes – people have right to write their opinions, but if they write the same judgement(“downgrade!”)10 times under 10 articles – I think there is somethiong wrong with their personality…

maybe you didn’t said that (at one point i just stopped reading any comments on DSOG so i can’t be sure), but i saw many posts saying: “downgrade! i will not buy game, i will steal it from torrents!”. can you call it proper behaviour? is it only “pointing out the obvious problem”?
I guess you wouldn’t care if a car delivered to you looked different to the one your purchased, saying “oh well, it’s the driving that counts not the look”.
They just criticized the game nonstop but “it’s not a bad game”. Yeah hard to believe that after all you write are negative things, things that are exaggerated to the moon.
Like CDPR said PCs would no be able to handle all those effects presented in the 2013 trailer.
We never said the game was going to be bad, just the graphics downgrade, can’t you tell the difference? If all you care about is gameplay, maybe you should remove the textures from your games and see how much you really care about gameplay.

Sometimes I think that people instead of play the games…they play “the graphics”. lol
Jokes aside…I was talking with a friend about the differences with the 2013 game-play trailer (we both own the game of course) and after all the crap that people throw at it, we both came into conclusion that even with the differences and “downgrade” this game looks stunning. The textures are great in most of the places (inside of the cities and buildings are incredible, clothes, armors and overall materials look awesome) and how organic the whole world looks…I can’t get enough of the views that this game has.
Foliage suffer a lot but if you think about it…there is no game with such an amount of grass and plants + trees, and also with actual movements and interactions with the player.
I saw worse texturing and foliage in GTA V and no one seemed to care about. Weird isn’t it?
Some people can’t even run the game so well as it is now, imagine if they let the game as it was before with those particle effects and such…At some point I said to myself “thank god they downgraded the game a bit so at least more people like me can play”. Yet people with powerful GPU’s complain about not having more frame rates.
Watch Dogs was also a cool game after all…it lacked details like dynamic shadows and some more stuff. Yet the game lacked content more than anything but the story was quite good to me.
This game was like an unfinished product compared to The Witcher 3 in where I still in 63 hours never went to Novigrad by and of course still have to go to the other map and such.
Exploration is amazing and the side quests/contracts are great and rich, dialogues are also superb. Music and overall sounds are amazing, the environment and the whole world is and looks incredible.
After all the crappy games we had lately, tons of early access and unfinished/unpolished crap…this game should not deserve what it got from great part of the “gaming community”…if that means something.
Playing this gem and looking forward for Cyberpunk 2077…when it is ready, I will be too! 😉
Steam spy says sales are close to 500,000. Pretty impressive despite the controversy. Not to mention GOG sales aren’t included. I think it’s selling better on PC than both Consoles individually. Anyways,,, they said no CP2077 news till 2017. Check out Gamespot article.
500.000+ sales + about 500.000 more from gog and retail combined= more than 1 million pc sales already or even more! If GOG didnt exist then steam sales would have reached 1 millions already
Most games except trash like COD usually sell more on PC than any other single platform, if it atleast doesn’t sell that much, our platform would have been abandoned long ago. I do remember about two or three years ago EA confirming this.

A picture that I took today on my PC. Game is not maxed (GTX560Ti OC 1GB I had to lower my resolution to 1360x768p to have 40/50FPS with the game almost maxed)…I have textures on High,Ultra Terrain, Ultra Details, Shadows Medium, Chromatic aberration OFF, etc.
Compare the texture of the cave/rock in the same image…it looks blurry as hell (in the left) even compared with mine which looks exactly as the one in the right picture (trailer from 2013).

Also the texture of the face of that creature looks amazing in the game, and not as much detailed in the trailer…I also can see the skin pores from the arms and the back.

Also the time of day is different and the fog is in the game, I’m not sure at what time do you have to be there to match the right lighting.
One thing is sure, the shaders changed and the colour palette was affected because of that. But there isn’t that of a massive “downgrade” as people say.
Don’t compare crappy pictures taken in JPG against pictures taken from probably a You Tube compressed video also in JPG.
