STALKER feature

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. – MISERY version 2.2 releases this September, gets new trailer

The modding team behind MISERY for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat has revealed that a brand new version will be released this September. In order to celebrate this announcement, the team has released a teaser trailer for it that can be viewed below.

In case you weren’t aware of, MISERY is a full concept modification of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat that touches every game aspect including textures, sfx, music, weapons, A.I., items, weather, mutants, difficulty and much much more.

In this new version of MISERY, players  will no longer need to haul packs full of heavy damaged loot back to base. Using either improvised tools or highly specialized kits players will now be able break down weapons, armor, and even electronics into small and large parts, debris, fabric, etc.

Moreover, these kits and tools can be used to bring a looted weapon from zero condition all the way up to 100% enabling players to bring the highly damaged carcass they found of their favorite model shooter up to glistening pristine condition without spending all their hard earned cash.

Enjoy the teaser trailer and stay tuned for more!

      1. it’s quantity vs quality, Metro is about story and immersion
STALKER is about exploration, discovery and looting

i’m more of an immersion story guy, but i absolutely loved the Kshatriya DLC
really gave strong Stalker vibes even though you were in a confined map

i do hope that exodus has a free roam after you finish the game, with side quests and expanded content (and maybe steam workshop support eh?)

though considering it’s published by the German Ubisoft (deep $hitver)
        i highly doubt that
hell i wonder how much they’re gonna charge for ranger mode
        my guess. 10$
though it will be probably offered as free pre-order “DLC” if i buy it day-1 it will be the same price anyway
(this is one of the few games i’m not gonna gray market purely out of respect for the developers)

        1. I’m sorry but the immersion in STALKER is 10X what Metro offers. No other game does immersion better.

Story, i’ll giver you that one but i prefer the story in STALKER, its not spoon fed to you, nor linear like Metro’s.

Metro was a fantastic game, but nothing even comes close to STALKER IMO.

          1. Stalker is immersive because it doesn’t hold your hand
try playing the original 2033 without hud and you’ll see how immersive it gets

last light was pretty damn dumbed down and consolized
            but still overall enjoyable

as for Stalker’s fate, well the original team dissolved and the engine is nearly a decade old
it’s all moddable sure but the source code is too dated for graphic enthusiasts like myself

it’s not just graphics, it’s physics also
in 2010 it f**kin blew my mind how realistic they were

on the frontline level there was a lot of armored guards, i shot them with my silenced VSV through the helmet and the shots didn’t go through
i aimed directly at their visor and… the shot got through!
also i tried another run, used premium rounds and they penetrated their helments though they made a sound so everyone was aware of my position, so they also made a good A.i with the addition of physics

overall i’ed say the best version of stalker is the Call of Chernobyl mod
very easy to install and very stable
though i never liked a lot of things in the game
            zombified enemies (it’s scientifically stupid)
magic artifacts and other dark fantasy nonsense

Metro keeps it real with mostly science fiction (plausible material such as annomolies, dark humans who evolved to live off radiation and have unique psychological abilities etc…)

            i dunno, it’s a matter of taste
Metro seems more refined to me.

          2. Metro 2033 looked good, but poor weapon animations and sounds were sticking out like a sore thumb.
Also, the balance was weird. The auto shotgun was nerfed to the oblivion just because it was automatic (stupid law of game physics – if it shoots faster, it shoots weaker). But you still could only hold so many shells. So the overall firepower was way lower than if you were using a double-barreled shotgun or a semi-auto one.
Then there were gas mask filters. I thoroughly looked through the maps so I inevitably had to stay in contained areas for a long time. In order to prevent from running out of filters, I ended up putting my gas mask on and off as fast as possible every time my character would begin suffocating (effectively, you can use 1 second of your filter time to last for about 10 seconds). It was kinda annoying.
That said, it was a good game. I just wanted to bring up some things I didn’t like about it.

          3. the gasmask things make sense
in the surface you find a lot of used gasmasked which aren’t very fresh and durable
the only reliable way to get air is to buy them off the market
and you can make a killing at the start (200 bullets) by selling the volt driver on the bandits level where you find encounter broken glass with burbon

i finished the game with over 1000 MGR on hard difficulty
it’s very easy to conserve ammo because like you said, that shotgun is OP as hell
from black range it kills almost every critter aside from librarians and demons (speaking of librarians they were dumb as F**k on the 2033 version, i always killed them with throwing knifes every time)

in the redux version, gasmasks you find add up mintues regardless of their condition (not in hardcore realistic modes)

and you can ADS with the shotgun, i dunno which version is superiror
i always preffered the classic because it was less consolized (melee wasn’t a one hit kill, you had to actually throw the knife with power instead of just toss it, enemies weren’t blind and deaf etc..)

you should totally replay it and this time with a calm and more tactical approach
don’t bother with peunomatic weapons for one, and most of the upgraded weapons you can find in the world (so don’t bother buying any)
just buy health kits if you’re low, filters (a must) and ammo if low

and always, no matter what you think
            buy.the.stealth.suit
you literally can’t sneak without it.

          4. I have finished Metro 2033 Redux on the highest possible difficulty level. And I killed enemies stealthily when it was possible.
I haven’t bought anything at markets because I had plenty of ammo.
Also, there are no suits to choose in the Redux version. They just change automatically along with the progress.
As for the filters, I had plenty of them in the end. I couldn’t even pick them up because I hit their time limit. Admittedly, I took the “better safe than sorry” approach to extremes.

          5. i too finished the redux version about 6 months ago
it’s more refined graphically but i hate the consolized A.I and knife throwing
they did fix a lot of spawning issues in the redux version

what was more alluring in the redux version is the new journal system which enriched the story and immersion in the overall experince

also did you finish it on Ranger spartan or survival?

          6. True…immersion and Atmosphere, I have yet to find a game that comes even somewhat close to STALKER!

    1. Stalker is better but really that’s not what generates sales anyway. Metro 2033 and Last Light are great games though but I would recommend the Stalker series over them.

      1. any game nowadays have to be “accessible” in order to be profitable
it’s sad but the grim reality of our times that games are business, and they focus on what generates sales

i’ed say stalker won’t work not because it’s “not accessible” but because the market is already overflooded with sandbox games which potentially lose their popularity

  1. Gunslinger…that mod is taking time but all those weapons, animations and little details are epic. Hope we get it if not at the end of the year, perhaps in early 2018.
