GSC GameWorld has announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be using Unreal Engine 4. This information was first revealed by Epic Games, and GSC GameWorld has now officially announced it.

GSC GameWorld claimed that it will talk about platforms and digital stores for STALKER 2 at a later date. So yeah, it remains a mystery whether this will be an Epic Games Store exclusive or not.
From what we know so far, the main inspiration for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the original trilogy (Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat) and its main feature will be its unique atmosphere. The developers aim to make a really atmospheric game, similar to what the original STALKER was when it came out.
The game will not feature any Battle Royale game. Furthermore, the team will be working on making modding tools so that modders can start creating new content when the game comes out.

Well, UE4 fitt well for this type off game really. Too bad the game will come only on 2021
If only. I think 2025 is more realistic. I wonder if System Shock remake will come before that as well.
Probably an EGS store exclusive
Haha, i saw what you did there and true.
I have a bad feeling about this.
EGS is trash
And the water is still wet.
Shcitt, I’d Hope So. HAHA 🙂 But you and i knw this will be an EGS.
I have a feeling this just might a EGS exclusive…let’s hope its not and that it is “hardcore” like the original trilogy.
would mean something in the past, now its clear that the new unreal engine is a less crap unity engine.
Yes!

Advert for piles cream?
Nope
have you played desolate? its a like a survival rpg version of stalker.
Oh, you can bet your sweet bottom a*s that his will be an exclusive title. Count on it!!
I just hope the DEVs stay true to the STALKER formula, having the first-person shooter mechanics of the first game, and some open world ‘Call of Pripyat’ like atmosphere, with some RPG elements mixed.
METRO EXODUS was a bit disappointing, at least in my opinion. If anything, Exodus was really a demonstration of why it’s sometimes best not to go bigger just because you can.
They focused more on the Game’s environmental Graphics, lighting, and other ray traced effects, rather than gameplay mechanics. I enjoyed 2033 and Last Light more than exodus, without too much honking writing and dialogue.
Here’s hoping S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 doesn’t disappoint.
?????
-stalker should be like the old stalker games
-metro exodus was disappointing because it tried to be more like stalker.
what?
Read between the lines fella.
I mean, considering the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R was a disappointment in terms of ideas of what the original game would be vs what came out, I’m personally expecting some disappointment.
They lost a lot of extremely good talent to the Metro Developers and I’m worried that what ever talent GSC has now will not be as talented, but I’m still looking forward to the 2nd game.
I sincerely hope they can atleast of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. advance the formula of the game into what mods have given us. I hope they can make the UE4 engine shine like X-Ray and give us similar shadoe work. I hope the atmosphere is similar to the original game. I hope they don’t f*co it up!
Here’s to hope!
exactly, no vehicles, less weapons and enemies, no dead city, too linear. Just make it like call of pripyat but bigger with new vegas style faction questiing.
i like the original metro and last light. but exodus feels like a different game to me. no doubt it has great graphic but only the last part of the game really feel like the original metro.
Totally agree, however I don’t believe the Metro devs were trying to make another STALKER and no I am not typing every period. It was a shooter on rails like Call of Duty. Bottom line is that STALKER was ground breaking even in its diminished promises. To compare it to a cookie cutter Fallout/Skyrim game is an abomination which should make someone lose their gaming card.
gaming card?
I have a bad feeling about this. I like the UE4 Map editor and Scripting tools but the way this engine looks in a lot of games is just wrong for STALKER. Bad TAA and Post Efects will make this game look like a soft and blurry mess with ghosting grass all over the place. Mark my words.
PS. Epic Fail Store Exclusive this will be. 100%
A sharpness slider would do the trick i maxed out sharpness in Gears 5 with 150% resolution scale, and it looked very crisp with minimal aliasing, if there’s no in game slider, the trick can be done with reshade or the GPU Driver.
The X-Ray Engine delivered very crisp visuals in the STALKER trilogy but it was a buggy mess with a lot of limitations, COP is stuttering for no reason with any hardware for example, SoC and CS are crashing for no reason too especially in Vanilla, i’ll take a stable engine over crisp visuals any time
Yes X-ray Engine was a mess because it run on just 1 CPU Core and it was limited by 32 bit memory system. I get why they go with UE4 but i thing they still have X-ray 2.0 from like 2012 when the first Stalker 2 project was going on.
Maybe it’s outdated too, or any other reason that pushed them to use UE4, the good news is that the project seems to go well for the moment, wish them the best and hope that the game will capture everything that makes STALKER so unique and good, and maybe taking inspiration on some excellent mods out there like CoC, Atmosphere and Misery, after all the community is what kept the game alive and still creating some demand, If they don’t fail at that, i think we can all endure some blurry TAA lol, fingers crossed
” Bad TAA and Post Efects will make this game look like a soft and blurry mess with ghosting grass all over the place. Mark my words.”
had to disagree with you. that can be disabled. plus all game engines support TAA and post effects. FFXV, RE2 remake, DMC5 and SOTR. those games rely heavily on TAA and they’re not even UE4….
That is the point. UE4 implementation of TAA is the worst you can have and if you turn this off the whole game looks broken as a result. The best TAA so far is in The Division.
TAA has the same effect with all games in general. it did wonders though for both the RE2 Remake, and Dark Pictures Man Of Medan. which both felt like movies in motion.
I agree, any engine can be tooled to look like anything in the right hands. The concern, however, is whether there are those hands left at GSC at all. My favorite dev under their flag – Iassenev – the brain behind the amazing AI and ALife is gone. Most of the devs jumped ship to either 4A or Vostok. But alls not lost.. the ruskis and ukranians are some the best game devs I’ve seen. Hope is one mean drug innit.
I know what you are getting at, but not every UE game has to have over the top glossy textures and bulky animations. Look at PUBG. Disregard the gameplay, but it is hard to even recognize that as a UE game.

I always felt STALKER was part mil-sim, or at least attempting to be with the weapon ballistics and slow gameplay. They should hire the Insurgency Sandstorm guys for their weapon handling code it’s the best I’ve ever seen in a game and that’s on UE. Mod friendly isn’t just the engine it’s on but the way assets work and structure, so if they are going to help us then it’s going to be ******ing awesome.
“it remains a mystery whether this will be an Epic Games Store exclusive or not”
It consequently remains a mystery whether I’ll be buying it or sailing the high seas.
Noo, i want the original engine…
