Well here is a nice surprise. All hell has broken loose the moment PC gamers found out that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance would not support resolutions higher than 1080p. Blasphemy. How can this be? Well, it appears that Platinum Games’ Creative Producer, JP Kellams, is a big fan of the PC platform and will try to both create a passion for PC gaming in Japan and let people know – the team behind MGR: Revengeance – that resolutions higher than 1080p aren’t so extreme as they thought them to be.
In a series of tweets, JP Kellams tried to explain the reasons behind locking resolutions higher than 1080p.
“Truth is we paid attention to steam surveys, etc. and worked to make a PC version everyone could enjoy. If we don’t support some of the more extreme resolutions/options, feel free to tweet me. I will be sure to let people know that maybe they aren’t so extreme.”
JP Kellams went ahead, later on, and confessed his love for the PC platform.
“One last thing. I love the PC games market. We have lots to learn about it.”
“I’m the one who set up our visits to Valve, and I hope I can keep working to show Japanese devs how vibrant PCs can be.”
“Obviously, publishers make platform choices, but I really want to create a passion for PC gaming in Japan.”
Which may explain this screenshot of Bayonetta running on a PC with 3D Vision support, a version that was never released to the public. Although Platinum Games seem fine with its games hitting the PC platform, it all comes down to the publisher. After all, this is what Kellams replied to a fan
“We don’t make platform choices, so tell our publishers. @konami listened, right!”
JP Kellams also added:
“PC is a platform where Japanese games can thrive with your support. 🙂 which is why I promise to be your voice as much as I can”
JP Kellams also explained why he loves the PC platform:
“Lots of countries don’t have consoles. Or have crazy taxes (Brazil). But even with insane firewalls, PCs are almost a human right. The PC is the most democratic platform on Earth. Anyone can have one. Even with piracy, it is amazing. Which is why I love MGR PC.”
