PC gamers can already experience Mass Effect Trilogy HD Remaster thanks to these mods

According to VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, EA is currently working on a HD Remaster of the Mass Effect Trilogy. And while this is great news for most console Mass Effect fans, PC gamers can already enjoy such a remaster thanks to the following mods.

First things first. A couple of hours ago, Jeff Grubb claimed that EA’s unannounced HD game is Mass Effect Trilogy HD Remaster. While there isn’t any release date yet, we can assume that this remaster will be coming on current-gen consoles and the PC.

However, PC gamers can already overhaul the graphics of all three Mass Effect games. And, to be honest, these modded versions may be better than what EA is currently working on. After all, I don’t expect the publisher to significantly overhaul and remake these three games.

ALOT and ALOV

The first mod that you MUST download is ALOT. A Lot Of Textures (ALOT) is a visual upgrade of the Mass Effect trilogy. With over 20,000 high resolution textures and 40GB across all 3 games, it is also the largest modding project of its kind for any game. ALOT provides high resolution textures for squad mates, environments, weapons, armours, enemies, allies and more.

A Lot of Videos (ALOV) is another mod you must download. As its title suggests, this mod aims to upscale and remaster all prerendered cutscenes. You can download this mod from here.

Priority Earth Overhaul and Expanded Galaxy

Priority Earth Overhaul is another must-have mod for Mass Effect 3. This mod attempts to improve ME3’s final mission in every way possible. The project restores cut content, adds new scenes and dialogues, enhances the gameplay, improves textures and more. Seriously, I’m almost certain that the official HD Trilogy will not pack the improvements that this mod brings to the table.

Expanded Galaxy Mod is yet another must-have mod for Mass Effect 3. This mod adds a huge number of changes, both large and small, to improve the overall gameplay of Mass Effect 3. It also gives the user a more personalized experience. This mod adds (among others hundreds of modifications, restorations, and additions) new weapons and armors, changeable Normandy’s crew and new missions.

Spectre Expansion, Ark Mod and Omega Mod

Additionally, Spectre Expansion Mod aims to improve the underused Shadow Broker and Spectre terminals. It also gives the player new difficult choices to consider via Spectre authorizations. Furthermore, it improves the presence of background races in ME3, expands the galaxy map and provides clues to the battles happening beyond the scope of Shepard’s missions.

Lastly, Ark Mod adds new Hazard maps, new enemies and more. Additionally, Omega Mod creates a new hub on Omega. Players can visit Afterlife, hang with their crew and see how Omega is faring after the evens of Omega DLC.

So yeah, by using these mods you will be able to get the ultimate Mass Effect Trilogy HD Remaster experience. And you can enjoy it now, way sooner than the official Mass Effect Trilogy HD Remaster hits the Internet.

Have fun!

    1. Kinda? Depending on the improvements (which I doubt will be big) they might get something better on PC. Slim to none chances it happens, but it might. Remasters are for console players. Backwards compatibility is still a joke for them to handle.

    2. I guess PC only gamers need to tell themselves something to feel better about all the exclusives they’re missing out on. Also, what you said isn’t even true. Maybe for some of the more lazy cash grab remasters, but not all. Batman Arkham City PS4 version has obvious improvements over the original PC version, like more detailed textures, charachter model, improved lighting. Same goes for Modern Warfare 2. Lots of huge improvements over the original PC version. I don’t pay too much attention to remasters so these are the only examples I can think of just off the top of my head, but I’m sure there are others.

      1. Please for the Love Of God, SHUT THE FUQ UP about exclusives. I will never buy another console or care for exclusives and you wanna know why, IT’S because OF CONTROLLERS. I FUQING HATE using a controller. I’ve grown very annoyed by them. SO a gamer like me doesn’t care for exclusives, i’m sure they are good but because I have to use a controller for them i lose interest. I own every PS3 and PS4 exclusive but as for the PS4 ones i’ve only played 20% of each game cause i can’t stand using a controller, so fuqing slow to aim and shoot. Just a very SUB-optimal way to play. So dude, cut it out, we don’t care about exclusives man. We really don’t this ain’t the PS3 era, we have far superior games to play these days. I know you are trolling your A$$ off, just stop dude. Get a Hobby!

      2. 1) Arkham City Original has better colors and bloom, though the remaster has technically better lighting, they didn’t remake the most important assets to go along with the lighting.

        2) COD MW2 Remaster is coming to PC.

        3) Your exclusives are trash, overrated and with sh**ty graphics, i cringed seeing all the sony nerds saying that uncharted 4 is the best looking game and blablabla while Crysis 3 looks better being 3 years older.

      3. LMFAO, exclusives? what exclusives? you are losing them every day. soon, your ps4 wont be anything but a low budget PC, same with PS5. It will take less than a year for your ps5 to be obsolete, once 3080 comes out, your are gone.

      4. In terms of COD MW2, yea they are using the updated engine. Of course its going to look better.

Unless EA uses Unreal Engine 4 to completely rebuild all three games (which I highly doubt). They are going to port the game on to ps4,xbox one, and switch. Bump up the resolution and framerate. Then crank up all the settings.

      5. “Maybe for some of the more lazy cash grab remasters, but not all.

MAYBE if thats true its because they spent 5bucks porting it to pc. If a game has pc in mind or a developer or porter even tries most pc`s will kill consoles. every time.

    3. barely. look at that skyrim special edition remaster. that was the saddest remaster i have ever seen. I bought it on ps4 and was blown away what a lie that was

    4. Unlikely, no PBR and very low poly characters.

A proper next-gen remaster will look a lot better.

    5. This is true for remasters but obviously not for remakes–no amount of modding in the world can bring this game (or most any other game) to the level of what a remake would look like.

  1. omega hub mod is not compatible with alot. after recapturing omega, the game freezes at the entrance to Afterlife. Also, i dont think spectre mod is good, it is just a bunch of messages where you read and click and that will affect your effective military strength negatively if you arent sure what decision to make. Another important mod is the ME3Recalibrated mod which acts as an unofficial patch that fixes a lot of things.

    1. You can’t fix ME3. It is inherently flawed to its core. Gameplay. Level design. Story. Void of talent. Mods can’t fill the void, they’re additional.

      1. i love playing a fully modded ME3. It’s great now. Guns feel great. BTW, Mods are unofficial fixes. Don’t like the ending in ME3? Try installing Priority:earth overhaul mod, LIME We Will Prevail ending mod and Citadel DLC Epilogue Mod. ME2 was amazing but the shooting mechanic feels lackluster. ME3 has more ooomph and better gameplay, ME2 has an amazing character development/personality, ME1 has good pacing but totally horrendous combat mechanics and clunky vehicle controls.

        1. You horrendously misunderstand game design. Typical casual gamer.

BTW, mods do not fix a sh**ty game. They can be enjoyed as mods. They’re supplements. The core game is still bad. Anyone defending the plot of 2 and 3 simultaneously has clearly never written a story. You’re aware that around 3/4 of the way through this already painfully short game, 3 completely retcons 2? Making it near meaningless beyond character introduction? Pretend scifi fans are always adorable.

  2. Lumping all 3 together won’t help the sales. Most of us just do not want ME3. It was garbage, start to finish. Did not have the content, depth, or creative talent behind it like one. 2 was watered down with a thoroughly pointless main plot and retcons all over the place. At least it had good characters and interesting side stories. Most people springing for it would be in it for ME1/2. Price will be important if it sells at all. Worse, what team at Bioware will handle it? Are the just fluffing up the graphics and frame rates? Changing the games entirely? Just seems like a “You best make some money, Bioware, it you’re next” kinda collection.

    1. Uhmmmm, most of us? who is this most of us? The only thing that was wrong with ME3 was the ending, which you need to get over man. ME3 has the best gameplay out of all 3, yes the graphics were the most downgraded, but it had the best gameplay. Get over the ending, just let it go.

      1. Mmm. Yeah.

Care to detail any particulars of the game prior to that that you can call better than the first two games? It mathematically had less side content, you can’t even debate that. The writing was terrible as the writer changed.

It wasn’t good. You just think it was. Big difference. I don’t like to eat sh*t, you go on ahead. Unless of course, you’d like to look at the sales numbers proving me right? Fans weren’t interested. 3 was a bad game riddled with bugs, linear forgettable levels, mechanics that rarely if ever worked, hit detection so shaky you’d swear it was designed by Michael J Fox.

By all means. Debate me. Let’s go point by point, start to finish about ME3. Let’s see you defend this thoroughly bland title.

  3. I’ve already seen how the trilogy looks with these mods, but this article is about how the PC version looks, yet doesn’t even show any pictures. What an absolute fail.
