NVIDIA GeForce Hotfix 576.66 Driver Released & Detailed

NVIDIA has just released a new Hotfix driver for its graphics cards. According to the release notes, the NVIDIA GeForce Hotfix 576.66 driver addresses some issues that plagued the latest triple-A games. So, let’s take a closer look at it.

The NVIDIA GeForce Hotfix 576.66 driver fixes crashes that could occur in both Dune: Awakening and F1 25. So, if you are currently playing these two games, you should use this driver.

This new hotfix driver fixes a few problems. First, it stops shadows from flickering in Dragon’s Dogma 2 when using an RTX 50-series graphics card. It also fixes crashes that could happen in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Plus, it solves a bug that caused quick red or green flashes during video playback in web browsers when using RTX 50-series GPUs. These fixes will help make games and videos run more smoothly and look better.

As the green team noted, this driver is based on the latest Game Ready Driver 576.52. This means that it contains all of its tweaks, fixes, and improvements. So, if you still haven’t upgraded your driver, you can skip the 576.52 driver and go straight to this latest hotfix.

As I’ve said before, if you don’t play the games mentioned above, you don’t really need to download this new driver update. It’s not a must-have for everyone. So, if your games are running fine and you haven’t noticed any issues, it’s totally okay to skip this driver update for now. There’s no need to change anything if everything is working smoothly on your PC.

You can go ahead and download this new driver from this link. Below, you can also find its complete changelog. So, go ahead and take a look at it.

  1. Quite a lot of hotfix drivers recently and It seems all the issues are specifically for their newest 5000 series flagship cards which are having trouble keeping up with their older brothers in quality. What a trainwreck launch for a brand new GPU.

    1. And that's' even when counting in all the issues the 50 series driver have caused to 40 and below series. Its a joke to put it mildly!

      1. Haven't seen that myself on a 4070 Ti, in fact DLSS 4 actually extended the life of mine so I'll be skipping the 5000 series entirely. But then again I'm still on Windows 10 and the way things are going I'm likely going to pay $30 to extend support another year. Well worth 30 bucks not to have to put up with the headaches …..

        1. Yeah, its sad when you pay to stay on the "old" because it's better. Win 11 is yet another step towards a worse bloated OS that seems to be more about mining the user for data to cash in on than providing an proper OS that is an OS… ie a bunch of API's and drivers and that's it – No bloat, no AI that will mine your data, no telemetry etc

  2. Finally took the time out to update the drivers in my 30 series card and wow. The Nvidia app is blouse and skirt better than GeForce Experience. It's so crazy having to have put up with that all those years.

  3. Meanwhile there's finally increasing public pressure on NVIDIA to get the performance of DX12 titles run via Proton on Linux in order, because right now there's a major bottleneck within their driver which leads to lower than expected power usage and thus performance.

Hopefully they can get their act together until Windows 10 reaches end-of-life in October.

Note that even with this current DX12 deficit you still can get an enjoyable experience on Linux by making use of custom CPU schedulers which are optimized for interactive real-time tasks like games.

Even within the Linux space many people don't seem to be aware of what a literal game-changer this is going to be.

Looking on YouTube, I at least found one video that demonstrates this quite nicely with Resident Evil 4 Remake, with a remarkably smooth frame-time graph.

I will add the link as a seperate reply to my own post, since it will need to be manually approved by John.

    Either way, exciting times ahead!

    1. If they cant barely get their nowadays sh**ty drivers together on their biggest platform with most sales… the chances are basically nill that it will happen in the foreseeable feature.

    2. There is also an issue with the NVIDIA driver and DXVK on Windows where the driver is not elevating newer versions of DXVK to a DXGI swapchain, which is necessary for better performance and HDR support (at least on NVIDIA cards) when using DXVK on Windows.

      1. Windows 10 or Windows 11?

And yes there is a difference, Windows 10 22H2 is stable, Windows 11 24H2 is not

    1. its a hotfix driver, they dont show because they arent necessarily stable, once it releases as a stable driver it will be in your nvidia app

  4. wtf they still dont address that photo mode in c2077 crashes when taking the photo with 50 series cards and path tracing enabled

the whole driver crashes to be precise

  5. Attention Windows 11 users

Microsoft released the optional KB5058499 update for Windows 11, version 24H2, to address several system-level graphics defects. Users running this build had reported persistent graphics memory leaks in the system graphic kernel, which led to degraded performance during extended gaming sessions. In addition to the memory leak correction, the update resolves issues where games would suddenly hang, display a black screen, or become unresponsive. Release documentation indicates that the underlying kernel memory handling routines were modified, although precise implementation details remain confidential. By integrating this patch, system stability under GPU-intensive workloads is expected to improve, reducing the risk of application hangs and blank-screen errors.
