Nvidia GeForce 384.94 WHQL driver out, offers optimal performance for Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

NVIDIA has released a new driver for its graphics cards. According to the release notes, the NVIDIA GeForce 384.94 WHQL driver offers optimal performance for Lawbreakers, ARK: Survival Evolved, Fortnite Early Access, Dark and Light, and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. In addition, this new driver is optimized for the new “Ultra” settings of EVE: Valkyrie.

Furthermore, the NVIDIA GeForce 384.94 driver updates the SLI profiles for ARK: Survival Evolved, IL-2: Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad and Lawbreakers, fixes some crash issues in Watch_Dogs 2 on Titan X cards, some screen freeze issues in NieR: Automata on GeForce GTX 780/780 Ti cards, as well as some freeze issues in Gears of War 4.

Moreover, this new driver displayport no signal issues on GTX980 cards after turning the monitor off and then back on, some Windows HDR settings conflict issues in Shadow Warrior 2 with ingame HDR settings (resulting in color over-saturation) on GeForce TX 1070/1080 cards, and a bug that prevented Titan XP owners enabling HDR from the in-game HDR settings in Mass Effect: Andromeda after the game launched in full-screen mode.

  1. Downloading it now. Here’s hoping it remedies the issues introduced by the last driver update although they’ve made no mention of it in the release notes.

      1. Nvidia acknowledged that the previous driver was causing issues for Maxwell cards with video playback on YouTube. Yet these latest release notes here make no mention of it so I’m now wondering if they’re going to address it at all.

The issue occurs when viewing YouTube content full-screen for longer duration videos. Sometimes after several minutes the screen switches to a screen size black window. Touching the mouse or keyboard remedies it so it’s not a huge problem but nevertheless it shouldn’t be happening.

Oh, and the last driver introduced another issue on my PC and presumably others too. When shutting down the PC the graphics card’s fans suddenly ramp up – not to full speed but quite high nonetheless.

        1. wtf. I swear. if there was another company other than amd and nvidia, they’d be making sales right now. One has next to no hardware and the other one has weaker and weaker drivers.

It’s over exagerated i know but still. Maybe a 3rd company would stir things up a notch.

          1. Too right. Only a handful of driver updates ago Nvidia introduced a since fixed problem of causing people’s PCs to get stuck on a black screen when attempting to boot. There was me thinking WHQL actually meant something in terms of quality assurance but evidently not!

          2. Yea, i think at this point they can’t test everything but i don’t have the feeling they’re actually testing a broad range of setup. They just expect it to work and since MS doesn’t really care, they just let them
Pass the whql. Same goes for amd, both conpanies aren’t perfect, it’s ok but as consumers, most of the time, we’re the ones getting the hit.. be it crashes, instability etc.

  2. Oh thank god. My monitor was waking me up at random times at night; I thought it was the release of death coming for me, but nope, it’s just Nvidia.

  3. Sorry for the off topic comment but does anyone have any idea why my borderless window acts like it’s full screen mode ? What I mean is normally you shouldn’t have screen tearing in borderless window but for some reason I do. Windowed mode works fine though.

  4. in the past this is quite the norm. drivers are ready a few months before game launch. including multi GPU support. i still remember mass effect 3 official SLI profile was rolled out in january drivers when the actual game still not coming out in march. right now we are lucky just to have SLI or CF profile ready on game day one launch.
