It appears that Microsoft Store may have leaked the release date for Diablo 2 Resurrected’s upcoming beta phase. According to the store, Diablo 2 Resurrected Beta will begin on August 17th.
Now while Microsoft and Blizzard were quick to react and removed the date, Reddit’s member crimson4649 screengrabbed it.
As its description reads, the beta will allow players to play one of the five classes. Players will also be able to customize their characters.
“Be among the first to return to Hell and experience the timeless gameplay of Diablo II, now remastered with modern visuals and audio that take advantage of today’s gaming hardware. Face the minions of Hell as one of five playable classes in the Beta. Each is highly customizable with countless build and gear options for players to explore.”
Diablo 2 Resurrected takes the 2D sprite-based classic and brings it into the present with full 3D physically-based rendering, dynamic lighting, revamped animations and spell effects—all stunningly delivered in up to 4K resolution. Additionally, the game will have enhanced cinematics. Not only that but its memorable soundtrack has also been reinvigorated to support Dolby 7.1 surround sound.

rofl, what’s the point of hiding the beta date? I mean, will they lose potential sales?
Will age much more poorly than Classic WoW did and that’s already dead with TBC. It’s more about the systems and design philosophy that were good, than the actual games that are changed in the meta gaming age and Blizzard’s refusal to adapt to that. Anyone who thinks the PvP in Diablo 2 will hold up in the age of meta gaming is delusional.
These re releases are just a cash grab of nostalgia and protecting an IP from going freeware, while Bobby Kotick yes men try to say that the new trash systems and design of current Blizzard games are better and refuse to fix glaring problems that are now a problem with the old games (see mage aoe in Classic WoW).
The world not mattering, a focus on failed esports instead of expansive dungeons and unique fun classes that have to be balanced around failed esports is the problem with WoW.
The same will happen with Diablo. 3 was pay to win. 4 will be pay to win, pay to look cool and a have a garbage storyline with social engineering to get a cheap, zealot defense force of the game and probably a failed esport played by influencer streamers who can’t compete in esport games anyone actually cares about. In the West that is pretty much none of them, but esports hasn’t failed yet in Asia.
Enjoy the week where Diablo 2 is relevant on Twitch though. Already been there. Already been in Wrath of the Lich King. If these companies can no longer make anything new and good, why the hell give them money. Let them fold and die. They will be replaced by something better. Diablo already has been replaced and WoW is on life support.

The beta date is plastered all over battlenet as soon as you log in. There’s nothing to leak, it’s been known for weeks.
