The official Twitter account of Killer Instinct has announced that this fighting game will be coming to Steam later this year. The team did not reveal whether this version will allow Steam players to play with Xbox One players, though we kind of believe that this feature will stay exclusive to the Win10 version (available via Windows Store).

Killer Instinct was released on the PC (via Windows Store) in March 2016 and it runs extremely well on the PC platform. Those interested can read our PC Performance Analysis of the Win10 version.

Killer Instinct is a UWP game so it looks like Steam starts setting UWP games! NICE. I hope that also EA and Ubisoft start seliing UWP games. UWP should replace Win32 in all stores.
UWP is a terrible format and also EA/Ubi would never sell UWP titles since their platforms are just for their games only. UWP is extremely user un-friendly, cant be modded or tinkered with at all and typically comes with terrible PC options, only micro$hit fanboys like UWP.

Why? Its much better file format than Win32.
1. easier to install than win32 file format
2. better performance than win32 because system can run it on different cores than system processes. MS confirmed that game mode works better with UWP than Win32
3. better protection. Not a single UWP ever been cracked. You can’t protect games in old win32 file format. Even with Denuvo those games are cracked in 5-6 days. UWP file format is far more secure “by design”. All UWP games work in full isolation. No a single UWP game are ever been cracked.
Any shop can sell UWP like Wn32. Is a file format. Amazon sells Photoshop Elements as UWP in own store (no Windows Store version) because they want better protection that is possible with old Win32
Quantum Break was cracked after one day, Horizon 3 has been cracked and every other title that MS has released on their horrible store has been cracked. There is no reason to use uwp over standard 32 bit programms and Valve would never allow that uwp trash to be released on their plattform .

2. UWP Quantum Brak aren’t cracked to this day… Win32 version on Steam was cracked in less than a day. You can’t protect Win32 files. If MS release Killer Instinct in Win32 file format then it will be cracked in one day like Win32 version of Quantum Brak.
Both FH3 and Quantum Break have been cracked just google it.

This is factually not true. They do work with a handful of other publishers to bring a small range of their games to Origin/Uplay.
UWP is a container. There’s nothing stopping developers from creating a Win32 executable just because they initially formatted it as a UWP game.
Also, I doubt if Valve is about to start letting developers put up Windows 10 exclusives on Steam (especially since Gabe has come out against UWP), so, yeah, it’ll be Win32 – guaranteed.
UWP is a Windows 10 exclusive joke that’s controlled by Microsoft & designed to be anti-consumer. It should go die the sad pathetic death it deserves.

MS has full right to both ORI games, trademarks etc. Studio was created as indie in 2010 but now (from 2011) is internal part of “Microsoft Studios” as “first party developer”.

We’ve been over this already; Moon Studios is independent. They’re a legally registered GmbH company in Austria, unless you’re seriously trying to claim that they’re committing fraud by not declaring that they sold out to Microsoft.

Moon studios was created as independent in 2010. In 2011 join MS as first party developer. All trademarks to both part of ORI of course belongs to MS. Next time use Google to check who own trademark and studio.

It seems that the only people who are commenting that way are Xbox fanboys.
They still haven’t gotten over the personal trauma of their beloved Microsoft having ‘betrayed’ them by binning the practice of console exclusivity that made Xbox even more pointless that it already was.
For some illogical reason they’re now defending the practice of PC games being held prisoner to Windows 10 Store UWP. They don’t have any current or future games from Microsoft Studios and its affiliates that are exclusive to their console so they’re now reduced to the hugely embarrassing position of defending exclusivity on another platform. Jesus wept.
It doesn’t seem to enter their fanboy hive mind that things are now so desperate for their cause that the last stand in defending Xbox has become that of defending something on PC! It’s insane.
Meanwhile, PC goes from strength to strength, Steam’s membership continues soaring in to the stratosphere and Sony continues to annihilate Microsoft in the console space.
Though, to be fair, I’m really hoping they’re not just going to sit on that piece of sh*t PS4 Pro for 3-or-so years before they release another incremental hardware upgrade to the PS brand.
Especially since they took the dumb-as-f*ck route of not including a 4K Blu-Ray player (not that I give a sh*t about 4K yet, but yeah, the PS3’s Blu-Ray player established an important precedent that Sony has just completely failed to live up to with the Pro thus far).
I’d say Sony’s most unfortunate decision with PS4 Pro (it still raises a chuckle with me that they labelled something so poor as being ‘pro’ spec) was rushing it to release featuring the same abysmal AMD Jaguar CPU that’s been the main culprit for why so many games run so appallingly on PS4 and Xbone. Ditto Xbone X.
The omission of a UHD Blu-ray player was of minor significance relative to that, imo. That said, it does seem most peculiar that only Microsoft’s consoles feature such a thing when Sony was part of the founding team responsible for the Blu-ray Disc format and when Sony has a long history of being at the forefront of bringing new formats to market. I can only presume they reasoned that 4K streaming and downloading movies is where the market, particularly so console gamers, is now at and the stats would seem to support that.
All this whining about the home release market shrinking. Yeah, it is shrinking, doesn’t mean it’s going to disappear. Hell, if anything, home releases are always going to stay relevant because of collector fans, so if anything, they should start shaping up & releasing them properly, instead of doing 300 different re-releases for popular movies scattered across 5-10 years.
Seriously, that’s the biggest f*cking problem with the home release market; 6 months later chances are there’s a new edition out, featuring an extras disc or whatnot, making your version obsolete. F*ck. That & the absurd f*cking price points they’ve been trying to push onto the Blu-Ray market since the very beginning, trying to treat it like it’s a premium product, or some such bullsh*t, even in the face of the ever-rising digital distribution (which they tried to ignore at first, as is typical of these f*ckers, of course).
I mean, yeah, obviously the disc-based physical medium itself will go away eventually, but the box sets will always be relevant as collector’s items. Besides, Netflix doesn’t do extras like director’s commentaries, etc. yet, so there’s that, too.
But yeah, it’s obvious that Sony just did the Pro in response to Microsoft doing the Scorpio, which Microsoft only did because the One was so poorly received. Just look at how they’re both jumping onto the 4K bandwagon & trying to push it hard, like it’s not just a gimmick, in the end.
Your comment reminded me I own seven different copies of the first Star Wars movie in its various releases across VHS, Laser Disc, DVD and Blu-ray Disc.
Yet if they release a properly remastered version on Blu-ray Disc (authentic colour tones like Harmy’s unofficial release as opposed to the hideously oversaturated colours in the existing Blu-ray Disc release) of the original 1977 movie (not the Special Edition) then I’d buy that too, lol!
That LaserDisc version <3 Ugh. The last real Star Wars release, as far as I’m concerned, though the colouring is sh*t in one release, if I remember well.
Speaking of; rumour has it Disney is looking to (finally) move to 4K Blu-Ray’s this year, in which case perhaps all the rumours we’ve been hearing over the years about Disney having gotten their hands on untouched Star Wars negatives in order to make a fresh restoration might finally prove themselves true.
Then again, they might just be saving it all for a mega-pack once Star Wars Episode 9 is out, or once they’re done with the Star Wars Anthology they’re doing. F*ck knows, anymore.
But yeah, likewise, though I never bothered with the Blu-Ray version after I found out it was using the 2003 DVD Box Set source & they didn’t even colour correct it (false advertising ftw <3) :P. In the meanwhile, thank f*ck for Harmy & Team Negative1, which are doing a complete restoration directly from the negatives, instead of relying on Lucas' sh*tty 2002-era DNR'd to sh*t & abused to hell scans.
Which Laser Disc version? I have two versions of SW on Laser Disc. The 1982 single-disc release and the 1993 widescreen Special Edition version that’s part of the glorious Star Wars Trilogy: The Definitive Collection box set complete with a +200 page full-colour large size hardback book!
Fingers crossed those rumours prove to be true. It sucked that the franchise’s former owner never reissued the original/non-Special Edition DVD release of the first SW movie so here’s hoping they see fit to do so on Blu-ray Disc and don’t mess up the colour saturation again.
Yep, Harmy and co. are doing god’s work! I sadly no longer have it available to view and whenever I Google search for a torrent link of the latest version I never find anything. Sigh!
You know the Spleen site? Harmy’s are still there. If not, go digging through the Original Trilogy fansite, they’ll point you to him 😛 The AVCHD ups are BD9-sized, though there’s BD25 MKV ups, too.
Just be sure you get the latest releases, as he keeps updating them; Star Wars is on version 2.7 right now, Empire is on 2.0 & Jedi is on 2.5 (it’s worth noting he’s still working on Empire & Jedi, as he’s still working on removing as many upscaled shots from the unaltered DVDs (GOUT – see below) as possible by replacing them with Team N1’s properly restored 35mm negative scans, instead).
Yeah, the Definitive Collection Box Set (with that glorious book!) is the good one, thanks for reminding me of that, whereas the individual releases were the ones that had a colouring issue the first time around, which resulted in them having to re-release them. Though, even that was just one of the three movies, I think. Sh*t, it’s been a while.
Yeah, those DVDs (otherwise known as GOUT) were nice, but they were also a big “F*CK YOU” at the same time, as he was too much of a giant f*cking c*ck to actually do a new scan, instead preferring to just edit the old LaserDisc masters without even adjusting the aspect ratio, but yeah, they did serve Harmy well if nothing else, so there is that, at least.
Many thanks for the heads-up on how best to source the latest version. It’s a shame that there doesn’t appear to be an easily available torrent but I’m guessing they have their reasons for that given the nature of IP rights or lack of thereof.
Yep, said amazing box set has pride of place in my LaserDisc collection alongside the equally stunning and perhaps more rare The Godfather Trilogy 1901-1980. I only bought the single-disc 1982 release of SW on LaserDisc for the ‘cool’ factor including the sleeve art.
I don’t think Disney gives anymore of a a f*ck about Harmy than Lucas did before them, it’s just that nobody re-uploads his stuff more than once in a blue moon for whatever reason, but yeah, it is a shame, indeed. I mean, there was a Darth Maul fan movie that actually made money off of its advertisements & Disney never touched it, unlike CBS with that whole Axanar debacle.

I think it’s safe to say that FFXV is coming to PC at some point. It would make the Nvidia Gameworks inclusion (that is noted on the game box, no less) rather odd if it was staying on consoles that have AMD hardware.
And with an easy to port PS4 collection of the KH games (as well as KH being on Unreal) I think we can safely say that KH is only a matter of time as well.
I mean, why wouldn’t it be? The fact that these games are coming to Xbox and PS4 shows there’s no exclusivity deal in place.

Of course tekken 7 is goldmine on pc because after so many years it is the first fighter that came on pc same time with console version and with perfect netcode/online. If Mortal kombat 10 Injustice 1 Street fighter 5 e.t.c were also released with perfect online from day one and no bugs they would aldo be gold mines.
