Earlier this week, the Rockstar Games Launcher leaked the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. And today Rockstar officially announced this remastered trilogy. According to the team, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will release on PC in 2021 via the Rockstar Launcher.
Unfortunately, Rockstar did not provide any additional details. Therefore, we don’t really know what their graphical enhancements and improvements will be. In fact, Rockstar has not revealed any screenshots or in-game/gameplay footage.
According to previous leaks, these three games will be using Unreal Engine.

It won’t use UE, that Unreal Engine part is kind of misleading.
If they’re doing it in UE, then it’ll be a Remake. But the leaked doc says remastered.
So … I guess its using UE4 as a frontend for various UI elements for the trilogy’s bundle/common launch menu.
Grand Theft Auto Trilogy remasters are being developed by Rockstar Dundee, which previously worked on the Halo: The Master Chief Collection under the name Ruffian Games.
The same devs used UE4 frontend for the MCC collection’s UI and menus previously.
There even used to be a common UE4 error in Halo MCC for PC.
Hence, this remaster is not actually being made in Unreal Engine.
Its the same ol’ GTA III,VC, SA code made using Renderware. Just spruced up a bit. Similar to Halo MCC.

This is redone again (which is quite atipical) in Unreal Engine, which doesn’t translate directly at all, so it forces reworking many things, which leads naturally to reworking and touching up many areas.
We’ll see in the end.
