Focus Home Interactive has acquired Deck13, creators of The Surge & Lords of the Fallen

Focus Home Interactive has announced the acquisition of Deck13, creators of The Surge and Lords of the Fallen. As the press release reads, Deck13 has been a long-time partner of Focus Home Interactive, and has developed over 20 games in the past 18 years.

This acquisition will enable Focus Home Interactive to take full control of the intellectual Property of the games developed. Furthermore, the publisher has acquired its publishing service for indie-developments.

The last game that Deck13 developed was The Surge 2. The last update for this game came out in February 2020. Thus, we can assume that the team is currently working on its next project. Unfortunately, we don’t have enough information about this project.

Deck13 was planning to publish the SNES-style JRPG, Chained Echoes, on the PC in 2021. After this acquisition, Focus Home Interactive will handle the game’s publishing duties.

Moreover, and while Lords of the Fallen 2 is under development, a completely different team is working on it.

Stay tuned for more!

    1. Trash ? what do you call actual trash companies then ? EA(Wallethoggers) they make good games they just don’t have big AAA budgets. One day i hope you get that not all developers and Publishers have billions of money. They are doing very good job with the money they have. And every title is better than the last. And for publishers Focus home is also publishing better games with every next release. Focus home at least games i have played are not Lootbox filled grindfests. Vampyr, Plague Tale, Greedfall are all pretty good games in AA category. Maybe you can explain whats so trash about them for me ? Probably you are just trash yourself and cant say a good thing about anything.

      1. Maybe you can explain whats so trash about them for me ?

I tried The Surge, it’s a POS Souls clone with no originality whatsoever. There you go, I explained why it’s trash.

        1. You don’t like dark souls type of games so don’t play them they aren’t trash because you don’t like the type of games they do while there are plenty of gamers who like these type games! You did not explain nothing you just said you did not liked their game while there are plenty who does. But being trash for that ? do they have sh**ty business tactics do they treat their workers sh*t ? do they support the 4th Reich ? What makes them trash like you didn’t like their product that no one makes you buy and most cases you can return that product. You label them trash like the worst company in the world. Please educate your self further. You could say i don’t enjoy their games. Or please don’t comment at all because your not interested in this company. I don’t want to say it but you are kind of trash yourself , because anything you don’t like is trash. Sorry.

    1. Not that i am fan of souls games myself, but there are people who enjoy theese games. Maybe not all games have to be developed to you liking ? Can we accept that? Or lets all continue to be center of the universe.

  1. This was a very smart move on there part. I love the Surge franchise. I’m eager to see what else Deck 13 can make besides Boss-Battlers. A part of me wishes they could stay independent but focus home interactive games are always DRM-Free so I’m not mad at all. Wish them best of luck.

  2. I am not a big fan of souls type games but i am glad you enjoy them, It’s refreshing to see on this page. Developers under Focus Home are developing some good AA games and i hope they keep improving as they have been doing with every game So Surge 3 or whatever is next hope its good.
