First screenshots for Daedalic’s upcoming The Lord of the Rings – Gollum

It appears that the first screenshots for Daedalic’s upcoming The Lord of the Rings – Gollum have surfaced online. These screenshots showcase in-game action, so they will give you an idea of the game’s aesthetics and visuals.

The Lord of the Rings – Gollum is the first video game to be born out of the new fellowship forged between Daedalic Entertainment and Middle-earth Enterprises, with scope for more new experiences in the future.

This new title will remain true to the vision laid out in J.R.R Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. Moreover, it will explore new events and details related to Gollum’s journey. Although we don’t have enough details, we know that The Lord of the Rings – Gollum will be using Unreal Engine 4.

The Lord of the Rings – Gollum will release in 2021 on the PC and all relevant consoles. Daedalic has not revealed whether this will be a cross-gen game or not.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Thanks Gamestar

  1. This looks like a rip off of Styx tbh. I’m so sure it’s going to play a bit like it as well, seeing as how Gollum’s character isn’t known for strength, but wits instead.

      1. I 100% agree and on that note to Me both Styx: Master of Shadows and

Styx: Shards of Darkness looks way better than this.

As a side note you can get both Styx games on GOG DRM free for those interested.

Personally I am not feeling this Gollum game at all even if I am a bog LOTR and Hobbit fan 🙁 , shame.

  2. That moment when you realise Gollum is arguably better-looking than some human female protagonists in current-year video games.

      1. The PR disaster surrounding The Last of Us 2 on Soyny consoles is currently the gift that keeps on giving, haha!

        1. the funny thing is neil keikman said he will put more sjw stuff the more people complained about it.

Well how did that turned out?

          1. Neil Druckmann Cuckman truly is a ‘special’ guy whose actions and words may very well cost both Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment hundreds of millions of dollars. Possibly even billions of dollars due to TLoU being a tent-pole IP that Sony’s marketing team will be depending on to help sell their impending next-gen PlayStation series console.

Not that Sony itself warrants an ounce of sympathy because their own change in political stance, coinciding with their US headquarters having relocated to California (but of course!), has served to green-light such commercially suicidal behaviour.

          2. “sony’s marketing team will be depending on to help”

sony is funding the game, they put tons of money in it.

  3. That looks very rough. As for the comparisons to Styx, a bit unfair as their games actually look and play pretty well.

    1. Who thinks: “LotR video game… Gollum!” FFS, Gollum. Of all the Characters in this lore… Gollum. All anybody really wants is open world middle earth ala MERP (Middle Earth Role Playing) cancelled/C&Ded Skyrim mod.

  4. Meh. the best game based on The Lord of the Rings books are : The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth II. Still the best one.

    1. A hidden gem : The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, nothing special about this title but it’s a very good Lord of the Rings game.

      1. As a coop game, alone is painful. Also The Return of the King is pretty good for a couple of hours of coop action.

        1. Play it alone 2 times and i really enjoyed it, and in coop only if you had a real friend.

  5. This is not LOTR, this is fkin Disney cartoon.

    And GOLLUM of all characters??

The game also looks like a point ‘n click adventure lol.
