FIFA 15’s PC demo is out in the wild and a lot of PC gamers criticized EA Sports for not properly supporting 16:10 monitors. In case you weren’t aware of, there are some annoying black bars when using a 16:10 monitor. Thankfully, there is a workaround for it.
Nvidia users will have to simply create a custom resolution. The key here is to keep intact the vertical resolution and the 16:9 aspect ratio value.
For example, say your monitor supports 1280×800 instead of 1280×720. In order to create bar-less resolution for games like FIFA 15, you’ll have to multiply 1.7777778 (16:9 aspect ratio) with your vertical resolution (800). This means that your new resolution will basically be 1422×800.
Once created, head over to FIFA 15’s config, select that new resolution, and enjoy the game.
Do note that you can use this new custom resolution on all games that have black bars.
AMD users will have to follow Guru3D’s bihariel guide in order to create such a custom resolution.
Have fun everyone!

Wow, thank you for posting this here. This way more people can fix that annoying blak bars problem.
I really like your blog, it’s the best PC games site on the Internet.
Yea. I got a second PC and a monitor with 1680 resolution (16:10) and i also hate those.. Thanks for the fix! I’ll try it later
By using this method I don’t have black bars but a 16:9 image that stretches vertically to cover my 16:10 display, with obviously wrong proportions… I prefer to cope with black bars than to look at a deformed image while playing.
What is so hard to code multiple aspect ratios? do they cost a fortune to implement?
And why would they change it? previous FIFA’s supported even 4:3 aspect ratios. Now FIFA15 doesnt even support 16:10? stupid lazy scumbags.
no, it just stretched the picture…
I have a 21:9 monitor (2560×1080). Fifa 14 picked it up perfectly. I could have the whole pitch on screen at once! Fifa 15 doesnt work, I have HUGE black bars, so I wont be buying it. Its a shame but Im not surprised, this is EA were talking about.
