EA On Star Wars: Battlefront – “Plan to show more of it at E3”

Electronic Arts has confirmed – during its recent earnings conference call – that Star Wars: Battlefront will be present at this year’s E3 event. Star Wars: Battlefront is powered by Frostbite and is being developed by DICE.

When asked about the progress on this new Battlefront game and whether we hear more about it at this year’s E3, EA had this to say:

“Battlefront coming along very well, Frostbite 3 has meant team can iterate and drive innovation with high quality. Plan to show more of it at E3 this year, but lots of work to go”

Let’s hope that this time we won’t simply get a teaser trailer for it.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. Now that BF4 is finally fixed DICE have learned from their mistakes and this should hopefully be a better game at launch.

    1. Did they finally fix the weird lag issue? That’s some big news – that game has been broken since it was launched some 6 months ago.

        1. Still a huge list of problems wrong with it. Wrong hit markers, random crashes, desync issues (ie not being able to revive players as they are not where your client is showing them), ect.

Its gotten alot better but that bar has gotten alot lower.

      1. With DICE’s history with BF games none of them have ever been 100% fixed and this goes all the way back to BF1942.

        1. BF4’s issues go way beyond any comparatively minor troubles overlooked in the previous BF games. For some reason people seem to think that just because DICE did a shitty job delivering a stable product in the past that it is somehow acceptable to deliver subsequent products which are flat out clusterfucks even 6 months after release.

  2. Witcher 3 , Star Wars : BF , Deus Ex 4 ,Fallout 4 , New Mass Effect etc . I am getting this feeling that this will be best E3 in recent years .

    1. Agreed. Really looking forward to this year’s E3. Hopefully Fallout 4 is announced, but I’m not holding my breath for that one. Mostly excited for The Division and Batman Arkham Knight.

    2. if i dont see new games e3 can go and f themsefls sequel this sequel that….new gen same games.

  3. EA’s Star Wars sounds interesting, but I don’t recommend pre-ordering it as they need to be sent a message that unfinished games should be left to Steam early access, and not AAA full priced releases Vote with your wallet!

        1. Oh, I can explain it. I don’t know how to account for international interest (is your home country English-speaking?), but there’s an obsession for a few reasons I can think of:

          1. Star Wars came out during the Carter administration, which, much like today, was a time of rising gas prices and an uncertain future – people looked to escapism to forget their troubles in a seemingly crumbling world.

          2. Star Wars was unlike ANYTHING at the time. The music, the special effects, the vehicles and spaceships, light sabers, droids, stormtroopers – all wrapped up in a nice little package that pitted Good vs. Evil. Freedom vs. Oppression. An awakening of a young man and his magical powers to change the world – very powerful stuff.

          3. The design. I’m a huge fan of Star Wars designs. They’re so… perfect, even in their imperfections. I’ve build many Star Wars vehicle models in my day, and I’ve stared at them for long amounts of time – the shapes that are used, the balance of the ratios – the design of even the smallest parts – are just amazing. An X-Wing, for example, wouldn’t have the same feel to it had it a short, stubby nose. It’s pointy, bristling with guns – it just looks dangerous. The shape of the vehicles dictated how it moved (or, how it was suppose to move dictated its shape). For example, a TIE Fighter needed to be small and nimble – what could be more nimble in space than a sphere?

          4. The imperfections. Science fiction, up until Star Wars, was clean. Star Trek pictured a world where people have striven for perfection in their society. Star Wars had imperfect people in a run-down society with broken vehicles, where people and aliens lived together and space travel wasn’t wondrous – it was mundane.

          5. The story. The beautiful thing about the original Star Wars was that everyone had different goals. Luke, Leia, Obi Wan, Han, Darth Vader, the Emperor – they were all going their different ways, acting for what was in their own best interests, yet their paths kept crossing – eventually their goals melded together, they understood the bigger picture, and it all built to a crescendo ending that saw the characters become something bigger than themselves.

          1. A well put together reply, comment of the week imho if you’re reading John.
