Yesterday, we informed you about the removal of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider. And today, we have another game that does no longer feature Denuvo.
Bandai Namco has released a brand new update for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown that removes this controversial anti-tamper tech. Bandai Namco has not revealed its complete changelog, so we don’t know whether it has any other changes or tweaks.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown came out on PC in February 2019. In other words, it took Bandai Namco over two years in order to remove Denuvo from it.
The game is set to return to the Usean continent from ACE COMBAT 3 and ACE COMBAT 4. Its story revolves around the Second Usean Continental War, following an attack by an army of unmanned jets.
Lastly, Ace combat 7 uses Unreal Engine 4 and runs well on a wide range of PC configurations!

How much did the drm cost during that time? That could have been invested into a better product that likely would have sold more than what the drm “saved”
there was nothing wrong with ace combat 7, apart from not being ace combat 4.
good because it was soo much better then AC4.
story wasnt.
we can only conclude that maintaining the drm costs money, or these companies wouldnt remove it. Bethesda removed it from doom and dishonored 2, capcom removed it from every game after a year, square enix removed it from tomb raider and nier automata, ea removed it from some games if i remember correctly. Ubisoft will keep it forever.
I did a quick check on what Denuvo costs Publishers and this is what I found:
140,000 dollars for the first 12 months of protection. 2,000 dollars additional for each month of protection from the first year. 60,000 dollars extra for products that receive 500,000 activations in 30 days. 0.40 dollars for each unique activation on the
WeGame platform.
Seems like a waste of money to me after a game gets cracked.
denuvo be like $$$$$$
I may be remembering this wrong but it seems like when Denuvo first came out they had a flat rate charge and if the game got cracked within a short time period anyway then the fee for Denuvo was returned to the Publisher. The Denuvo Developer seems to be getting more and more greedy and milking the Publishers.
I suspect that this DRM removal trend will continue. Congratulations, butt pirates.
Please support Project Aces guys, AC7 had an epic story and soundtrack to boot.
They already announced a sequel and are using UE5.
Love Project Aces, they listen to the fans, and their DLC’s are wicked.
I’m still to play AC7, people say is well optimized and will run even on a toaster, like MGS5. Good to hear that I will end up trying without its DRM.
They should fix the mother f*king First Person Field of View.
Piloting this planes like you’re a 90 year old man who can’t see sh*t and needs to get as close as he can just to read one word of the dash board is a pain in the a*s.
Good riddance…
nice! time to finally buy it now!
also hoping for the removal of denuvo in tales of berseria and code vein as well!
