Anthem E3 2018 demo was running in 4K with 60fps on two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti GPUs

Bioware’s Mark Darrah has revealed that the E3 2018 demo of Anthem was running in 4K with constant 60fps on two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti graphics cards. Visually, Anthem was one of the most impressive games at this year’s E3, mainly thanks to the Frostbite 3 Engine.

Mark Darrah also claimed that the development team will be optimizing the game right up until ship. Still, the fact the game can be played in 4K and with 60fps, even though it needs two of the top of the line GPUs available today, is really impressive.

For comparison purposes, The Witcher 3 runs with 80-90fps in 4K on Ultra settings on two NVIDIA GeForce GTX1080Ti graphics cards, Rise of the Tomb Raider runs with 70fps and Far Cry 5 runs with 75-85fps and Assassin’s Creed Origins can barely maintain 60fps.

  1. The sheer scale of the environment shown was impressive but that’s about it. Also they made several cuts so it’s unclear if they can really stream all of it seamlessly or if there will be loading screens.

But none of this matters since the actual gameplay is banal.

  2. ANTHEM = MP online mode only + would be a lot of micro transactions by EA ….. ?? no, thank you…… ^^

      1. I find your lack of faith disturbing.

I didn’t realize Anthem’ s release date was in in Feb, 2019. I thought it was much later than that. We’ll probably get the next gen at least by then.

        1. Odd choice of words… You find it, disturbing? Really? Lol… Yeah extremely high chances that we’re going to see the 1180 by fall , but Nvidias oiteralit not competing against anyone in the high end but themselves…. So the chance that they’re going to launch an extremely beefy GTX 1180 that will blow away a 1080ti is almost nil…. If I had to make an educated guess from my over 10 years in this industry, I would bet on a GTX 1180 announcement vend of summer that will launch between Sept and Oct, and will feature power that matches the titan Xp (about 10% faster than a 1080Ti)… And since I already own a titan Xp, I’m not too excited for that.

  3. ”and Assassin’s Creed Origins can barely maintain 60fps.”

He is using a single GTX1080Ti, that’s why.

    1. Lol yea! That game has no support for SLI,Crossfire, Multi-GPU at all. It’s a shame since it has potential to look beautiful at max settings in 4K while maintaining 100% resolution scale.

      1. i played max settings 1440p 35 fps average on my gtx 970 and 24” 2560×1440 60 hz ips and looked amazing. Odysey will look even better than that i hope even if it runs 35 fps too!

  4. YES! The last time we were in an era that required SLI/Crossfire/Multi-GPU was the original Crysis, Metro games. Bring on the hardware pushing games!!!! Far Cry 5 was optimized amazingly for single and multi-gpu setups. Hope this trend continues.

    1. It was a different time back when Crysis 1 came out. Back then SLI/Crossfire was fairly popular. These days when so many Developers are moving away from SLI/Crossfire support it doesn’t make a lot of sense to go to the expense of buying 2 high end GPUs for just a couple of games that will make good use of them imo

I doubt that Anthem will launch so badly optimized that it would need two 1080 Ti to get 60 FPS at 4K but even looking at a pair of 1080 (non TI) that’s about $1,100 right there. Would it be worth that to you for just a handful of games that would make good use of SLI?

      1. It really was a different time. It was also when 1080p screens were fresh and the same position as 4K screens today.

First and foremost I’m a pc builder and high end enthusiast with triple 1440p 144hz monitors. Personally I wouldn’t have a problem with purchasing multiple GPUs for my rigs but can see how it may not show value for others.

        1. That’s a lot of pixels and I assume you are aiming for extremely high FPS with those 144 Hz monitors. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that you are running two or maybe three 1080 Ti. I would say that places you in the high end of the high end segment of PC gamers.

I have met only a few people over the years that would pay $2,000 to $3,000 for GPUs alone but they have the money and they want the best so nothing wrong with that.

    2. It’s honestly weird how these games “push” higher end hw, despite looking almost identical to what current gen outputs at. I find that to be illegitimate and flawed. Pushing hardware should show greater results either visually or performance wise. In regards to Ubisoft’s games on PC, both are far from being a concise and consistent reality.

  5. A multiplat console developed game running on two 1080ti’s is not something to boast about nor be proud of EA.

If it was a PC designed game made for the 1080ti’s output then things would be different and more legit to boast about, but since it has to look very close to what current gen systems can do, there really isn’t much to boast about.

Had it ran on two 1080ti’s and made current gen look like PS2 with PC looking like something ahead of PS4, then we’d be seeing some actual progress, but sadly none of that has been happening this gen.

  6. I watched the footage – the new stuff – and wow, it looks stellarly boring. That’s not even a word but you know what I mean.
