Blood and Steel Mod for The Witcher 3 Next-Gen

The Witcher 3: Next-Gen Mod overhauls its combat with better animations, better targeting and new dodging mechanics

The Witcher 3 fans, here is something for you today. Modder ‘Riyusso’ has shared a new gameplay mod for TW3: Next-Gen that aims to overhaul its combat with better animations, better targeting, and new dodging mechanics. This is a must for those who want to improve the game’s combat system. So, let’s take a closer look at it.

Blood And Steel brings more attack variety and less spinning animations. Attacks will now be more dynamic, and they will be based on the situation and enemy type, enemy count, distance and direction. As the modder noted, the goal was to make the combat feel smoother while staying similar to the original style.

Then we have the new dodging mechanics. While holding the block, you will unlock new dodging animations. These include flanking, dodging enemy projectiles, and some pirouettes. For instance, if you hold block and press Dodge + Right you will do a ‘side dodge’ to the right. Or if you hold Dodge + Forward + Right you will ‘flank dodge’ forward and right.

The modder also added a smart system that makes your character do a rolling attack when it needs to dodge an enemy’s attack or move between enemies to reach a target. Also, animations will look smoother when leaving combat. Not only that but the combat camera has been slightly changed to improve how the fighting feels. Plus, there will be fewer times when you accidentally target something off-screen or when the target changes unexpectedly.

All in all, this is a great gameplay mod that will completely change the way you experience CDPR’s RPG. So, if you are interested in it, you can download it from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a showcase video for it.

Speaking of The Witcher 3 Next-Gen, you may also want to take a look at these other mods for it. For instance, you can download a really cool first-person mod. Furthermore, the Characters Reworked Project improves the quality of over 100 characters. Let’s also not forget this mod that lets you kill most in-game NPCs. Earlier this month, we also shared mods that restored the boat races and added 15 new quests. A modder has also restored the reputation system that CDPR cut from the game.

In December 2023, we shared this mod that restores content that was cut from all previous The Witcher games. Then, in February 2024, we shared a mod that attempted to remove the fake “hero” light from the game’s cut-scenes. There is also this mod that allows you to explore a part of the world from the first The Witcher game in TW3. Oh, and don’t forget this mod that allows you to ride a Griffin.

We also have some mods for those playing with Ray Tracing. The RTX Mirrors Mod adds proper reflections to the game’s mirrors. Then we have this mod that improves the fire effects via Ray Tracing Global Illumination. And finally, this mod fixes the Ray Tracing bleach issues.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

    1. In the thumbnail, I thought that he was wearing one of those Japanese kimonos. lol

  1. since AAA gaming is cursed for at least (started 2014) another couple years, Ive put playing this off. given AAA western RPGs happen once a year and when they do happen its Ubislop or Woke propaganda. When i do finally play W3 This site will be VERY helpful in getting the best experience

    1. What makes you think that it'll be cursed for only a couple more years?
It could last a century. lol
Anyway, you still have a large choice of indie RPGs, and enough old RPGs to last you a lifetime!

Have you tried the Gothic 2 total conversion The Chronicles Of Myrtana?

Btw, I have never played W3 either. lol
Maybe later. Also GTA 5. 🤣

      1. added The gothic TC to steam library, TY
Yeah just played GTA5 this year, after my rationing program;) , It was overrated like all RS games But enjoyable setpieces and map design.

  2. I think I will give this a shot. I couldn't stand the clunky combat in W3 after playing AC: Origins and Odyssey. This looks a lot smoother from the video at least.
