A couple of hours ago, we shared an RTX Remix Mod for Star Wars: Republic Commando. And now, here is another Path Tracing Mod for another beloved Star Wars game.
Developed by Raven, Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is a Star Wars game that features both first-person and third-person modes. This game came out on PC in 2002, and it’s the sequel to 1997’s Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.
Now, what’s interesting here is that Jedi Outcast uses OpenGL. So, this appears to be the first RTX Remix Mod for a game that uses the OpenGL API.
For those unaware, RTX Remix does not support OpenGL. However, to make this game work, modder ArjaanAuinger used the QindieGL wrapper and heavy config file customization. So, this could open up the doors for more RTX Remix Mods for games that use OpenGL. And you know the number 1 game that uses OpenGL and needs an RTX Remix Mod, right? RIGHT?
Since this is a tech demo, it adds Path Tracing to only one level. So, don’t expect to play the entire Jedi Outcast with Path Tracing. This is an early tech demo and nothing more. Still, this might be something that will interest our Star Wars fans.
Do note that the mod has a number of visual issues. It will also be heavy on your GPU. The modder claims that you should expect around 50FPS at 1080p on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. Again, this is a tech demo. It’s not as polished as the RTX Remix Mod for Star Wars: Republic Commando. Still, I’m amazed to see an RTX Remix Mod for an OpenGL game.
You can go ahead and download the mod from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find two videos. These videos will give you a pretty good idea of what you can expect from it. So, if you are not in the mood to download and test it, you should watch them.
In 2024, we shared a lot of RTX Remix Mods for various games. In January 2023, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Unreal, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 and Midnight Club 2. In March 2024, we also shared the first screenshots from the RTX Remix Mod for Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Finally, you can check out some early RTX Remix videos and screenshots for Fallout: New Vegas, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, COD 2, and Half-Life.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for NFS: Underground, Underground 2, Painkiller, and Left 4 Dead 2. Oh, and don’t forget to give a go at this RTX Remix for Unreal Tournament 2004. In September 2024, we also shared a new version of the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne. Finally, you can download Path Tracing Mods for Doom, Doom 2, Quake, and Serious Sam.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

not only was the SP awesome, the MP was too.
