Modder ‘Romi’ has just released a must-have 11GB 4K Texture Pack for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This pack focuses on the game’s environments, and it will overhaul around 1300 textures in total. So, let’s take a closer look at it, shall we?
This 4K Mod will overhaul trees, cliffs, rocks, stones, ground, grass, flowers and puddles. As such, it will make the game look better than before. And, given the fact that a lot of textures looked blurry in the vanilla game, I highly recommend trying it.
As the modder noted, this pack comes with a 5-15% performance hit on both NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. I also suggest using it on GPUs that have enough VRAM. The modder claims that the pack should work with GPUs that have 12GB of VRAM. However, he highly recommends an SSD as he’s seen upwards of 700mb/s disk usage.
You can go ahead and download the 4K mod from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find some comparison screenshots. These will give you an idea of what you can expect from it.
Speaking of 4K textures, Romi has also released 4K Mods for Cloud, Barret, Yuffie, Tifa and Aerith. These mods aim to overhaul the main cast. So, you might want to also try them.
As I wrote in my PC Performance Analysis, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth runs fine on PC. Although it’s not one of the best optimized games I’ve seen this year on PC, it’s still above average. The biggest gripe is with the shader compilation stutters. Yes. Although there is a shader compilation process when you first launch it, there are shader compilation stutters. You may not be sensitive enough to notice them, but they are there. And yes, this affects every PC, whether it has an AMD or NVIDIA GPU.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
