Modder ‘xoxor4d’ has just released a new major update for his amazing RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Grand Theft Auto 4. This update is a must for everyone who is currently planning to play this classic GTA game with Path Tracing. So, let’s see what it brings to the table.
Update 1.2.1 completely fixes the phone’s backgrounds. Right now, you can use whatever background you want, and there won’t be any smearing. This is a huge deal as the game can now be fully enjoyed.
Moreover, Update 1.2.1 offers correct calculations and softness for the spotlight cones. This means the spotlight cones now properly match the original.
Not only that, but this new update fixes the moonlight that was missing in a specific part of the map. The global light intensity has been increased to better match the original game’s lighting. The modder also added logic that lowers sunlight and boosts skylight during bad weather (rain, lightning, cloudy conditions). This gives the world a more realistic, overcast look.
And there is more. The modder has published a new version of AutoPBR. AutoPBR V2 has a bunch of new materials from various cutscenes and DLCs. To be more precise, it brings around 16k replacements, and it has 24k texture files.
As I said, this is a major update for the GTA 4 RTX Remix Mod. So, those interested can download it from this link. I highly recommend installing it via its installer. The reason I recommend this is because it will also ask you to download and install the latest version of AutoPBR.
At the end of the article, you can find some screenshots from it. I’ll also update the story with a 10-minute gameplay playthrough.
If you are into RTX Remix Mods, you can find similar ones for a lot of other titles. For instance, you can find such mods for Black Mesa, Star Wars Republic Commando, NFS: Underground, and Manhunt. You can also find some for BioShock, Morrowind, NFS: Underground 2, Star Wars Jedi Outcast, Max Payne, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.
In January 2024, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, and Midnight Club 2. Be sure to also check out some early RTX Remix videos and screenshots for Fallout: New Vegas, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, COD 2, and Half-Life.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for Painkiller and Left 4 Dead 2. Unreal Tournament 2004 and Unreal Gold have also gotten the path-traced treatment. Lastly, you can download these amazing Path Tracing Mods for Doom, Doom 2, Quake, and Serious Sam.
Have fun!
