First 4K Texture Pack for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

Modder ‘Canarious’ has just released the first 4K Texture Pack for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. This pack focuses on improving the textures of armors, weapons, clothing, and jewelry. So, let’s take a closer look at it.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Oblivion Remastered came out last month on PC. For the most part, the game has high-quality textures. However, there are instances in which you can find some low-res textures.

As said, this first pack aims to enhance the game’s armors, weapons, clothing, and jewelry. The pack is 16GB in size, and you can download it from this link.

Canarious has used AI tools to upscale the original textures. As such, the modded textures retain the art style of the original ones. At the same time, they look crisper and more detailed than before.

In future versions, the modder plans to enhance the textures for landscapes. After that, he will overhaul the game’s vegetation and building structures.

Sadly, Canarious did not provide any before-and-after comparisons. However, we did share some screenshots that showcase the new 4K textures. You can find some of them at the end of the article.

Last month, we shared a Reshade for Oblivion Remastered that attempted to bring back the colors of the original version. To be honest, I’m not a big fan of such Reshade presets. I’d personally love to see a “native” mod that can do the same thing. Still, if you are bothered by the colorgrading, you can at least give it a go.

We also shared some other cool mods for Oblivion Remastered. For instance, you can download mods that can revert the Male/Female setting change. We also have a mod that can improve the graphics of the game. Plus, you can download a mod that enables every creature and NPC to catch on fire from open flames.

Finally, you can download this mod that will greatly reduce the game’s stuttering issues. This actually works. However, you should keep your expectations in check. Yes, it will reduce a lot of the stutters. However, it will NOT offer a stutter-free experience. Still, this is a must-have mod. At least until Virtuos fixes those stutters.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. Wait, texture packs? For new games released in 2025?
I mean, I understand texture packs for old games, but I would expect in 2025 to not have to download texture packs anymore, cos games look realistic enough.

Same for the reshade thing… Hopefully, at some point, games will look good enough and we won't even have to care for improved lighting and such.
But apparently, this is far from being the case.
Especially for this particular game, since Oblivion developers decided to make the evergreen Cyrodiil region BROWN. Thanks to modders for unfuc**** this mess.

Anyway, it's just one of these AI tools that barely "improved" the original textures.
16 GB for this? No thanks.

    1. Yeah I looked at the comparison shots and there is very little difference. This might be one of the worst upscale packs I have seen in a while.

    2. A lot of games have trash textures. Problem is most of the texture mods you see are just basic AI image enhancements which increase the size of the texture file while adding very little additional detail. It's very rare to see something as transformative as Halk Hogan's Witcher 3 mods for example, which are a substantial improvement in detail, and at a much smaller file size.

    1. You know it actually worked for me:
      5800x
      32GB ram
      6900XT
      3440×1440 on high settings

I have seen others report it working. I'm not sure why it helps some and not others.

    1. Someone just put sharpening on the textures, saved them in a little bigger size and that's all.
Most likely this is even done in the more lazy and cheap way using AI.
