Torchlight II’s closed beta is underway and YouTube’s member ‘Fr0styNinja’ has decided to upload the first 5 minutes of it. In this video, you’ll see the character creation, the game’s intro and some in-game footage from the first level. Truth be told, the game seems similar to Diablo 3 (in graphics and its artistic style). But then again, Torchlight had always a ‘cartoon-ish’ style. Frogster announced today the successful launch of its long-anticipated MMO game TERA, developed by Bluehole Studio. Players have been invading the 10 servers set up for the launch since midday today (CEST). New players will begin their adventure in TERA by creating a highly customised character from seven races and eight classes. NeoAxis have released a new video that showcases the changes that have been made to their in-house game engine, the NeoAxis Engine. NeoAxis Engine 1.2 – that is currently available for download from here – supports HDR, Depth of Field and God Rays. NeoAxis Engine looks interesting, though it can’t compete with the likes of Unreal Engine 3 and CryEngine 3. Still, this is a great engine for indie devs and sports better and more colorful visuals than most multi-platform titles. Enjoy! Pat Goodwin – from Equilitree – directed a short non-commercial film for Half-Life 3. This video lasts around 2 minutes and has a narration about the Resistance and Gordon Freeman’s history. It’s pretty basic, but at the same time it’s easy to the eyes and kind of cool. It doesn’t have those funky special effects of all other fan-made Half-Life films but then again, that’s not a bad thing as its artistic direction is completely different. Enjoy! Rebellion and 505 Games released the launch trailer of their sniper game, Sniper Elite V2. Sniper Elite V2 is a third person tactical shooter set in the dying days of World War Two and is a next-generation reboot of 2005’s acclaimed original, Sniper Elite. The game weaves an explosive story of an undercover American OSS agent, stalking enemy prey across key historical locations from the Battle of Berlin in a mission to unravel the mysteries and dangers of the German V-2 rocket programme. 2 Dawn Games have released a new video update for their indie MP focused first-person shooter game, Ravaged. In this video update, we get to see some new footage from Ravaged and let us tell you that it looks sweet. Since this is a game with vehicles, team objectives and skill-based gameplay, it’s essential to have good vehicles controls and physics and from the looks of it, Ravaged has already nailed it. The initial goal of the game’s Kickstarter campaign was $15K USD and 2 Dawn Games have managed to hit that mark. Their new goal now is $50K USD and the more they get, the better they can make the game and the more features they can add based on player’s input.
