Phosphor Games Studio has released an Unreal Engine 4 Tech Demo for its upcoming game that will be powered by Epic’s next-generation engine, Project Awakened. As the team described, this is an early demonstration of the detail level and rendering effects they plan to give players as part of the Project Awakened Create-a-Player system. It looks cool, and way better than its UE3 counterpart that was shown off when the game’s Kickstarter campaign launched. Speaking of that, this game might not see the light of day as it has only raised $200K and there are 5 days left to it. Therefore, if you’re interested in it, go ahead and back it up! Ever wondered what a modern-day version of Minecraft would look like? Well, the man behind VoxelFarm had – most probably – the same question in his head when he started creating it. VoxelFarm is a voxel engine that supports meshes and features a procedurally generated terrain. It looks cool and is programmed by an individual, Miguel Cepero. Miguel and some friends will be creating a game with this tech that will allow large numbers of players to come together, or play solo if they want to. The core idea will be to explore new interesting places, claim them, and develop them. Miguel has released two new videos for this engine that can be viewed below. YouTube’s member ‘drloser333’ has created a cool video that showcases the graphical evolution of First Person Shooters from 1992 to 2012. This video shows off the original versions of the games that are featured – without any mods applied to them – rendered in actual resolutions of the period. Ironically, Unreal is nowhere to be found in this video and that’s a real shame as back in the days, Unreal looked better than anything available. That’s a big foul in our opinion, though we should note that drloser333 picked only one game from almost each year. But anyway, it’s a pretty good video and the montage is awesome. Enjoy!
