Factorio has sold one million units worldwide

Wube Software has announced that Factorio has sold more than one million copies worldwide. Factorio was released last February and it took Wube Software more than a year in order to hit this milestone.

Factorio is a game in which players build and maintain factories.

“You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. In the beginning you will find yourself chopping trees, mining ores and crafting mechanical arms and transport belts by hand, but in short time you can become an industrial powerhouse, with huge solar fields, oil refining and cracking, manufacture and deployment of construction and logistic robots, all for your resource needs. However this heavy exploitation of the planet’s resources does not sit nicely with the locals, so you will have to be prepared to defend yourself and your machine empire.”

The game supports cooperative Multiplayer, allowing players to create huge factories, collaborate and delegate tasks between them and their friends. The game has also embraced the modding community, allowing content creators from around the world to design interesting and innovative features.

Players can also create their own maps and scenarios with the in-game Map Editor, placing down entities, enemies, and terrain in any way they like, and even add their own custom script to make for interesting gameplay.

  1. What’s this ? A game that supports Windows, Mac and Linux, that has a DRM free version, that has a demo sells well ? So basically if you try to not piss off your audience you just may make money ? Glad they’re doing well.

  2. Congrats to them 🙂 It’s always nice to see smaller indie devs do really well. Noticed that it has an Overwhelmingly Positive review for an Early Access game. Seems like a rather a decent example to look upon for other developers who try to go for that format.
