Windows 10 Creators Update will be available to everyone on April 11th, will feature Windows 10 Game Mode

Microsoft has announced that the Windows 10 Creators Update will be made available to all customers on April 11th. According to Microsoft, this update is designed to spark and unleash creativity, bringing 3D and mixed reality to everyone and enabling every gamer to be a broadcaster.

In addition, this update brings new features to Microsoft Edge, additional security capabilities and privacy tools.

On top of that, the Windows 10 Creators Update will feature the Windows 10 Game Mode. With Windows 10 Game Mode, Microsoft’s goal is to offer the best and most consistent gaming experience on Windows 10 by dedicating more system resources to the PC games. Once users have enabled Game Mode, they can apply it to any game.

It’s worth noting that according to early tests, this new mode does not bring any performance improvements on mid-end and high-end systems. Still, it will be interesting to see whether this new version of Game Mode is better optimized/handled by the operating system!

  1. Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about that trailer…..

It just seems to me as if it’s giving away all the goodies, y’know?

…. Maybe if it was a bit shorter? Hm.

  2. Seeing it had no impact in the preview not expecting much. If it doesn’t help with fps I am hoping it will at least reduce stutter in games, Forza Horizon 3 I am looking at you.

    1. That’s what it’s meant for. It’s not some magic ball that will add performance boost using magic.

Also if game is fked and stutters this won’t do much.

      1. But some decent performance boost was expected. Microsoft is in charge of the whole system we’re playing on, after all. It wasn’t that stupid to think they can have some aces up their sleeves, unreachable for normal app developers.
Programs like Game Booster aren’t something new, so we don’t need yet another one.

        1. Well your expectations are unreasonable. THey can’t just make games run faster that’s not how computers work.
You already have the best most optimized games, and software and games wouldn’t run as fast on other OS.

And you don’t have to use it. You can just switch it off in 10 seconds by flipping one switch.

          1. “THey can’t just make games run faster that’s not how computers work.”
It is a possibility, games can run faster (a.k.a. stop running slower) if you free the PC’s resources. That’s how computers work.
It wasn’t unreasonable to suppose that there were some things working in the background that were slowing down the system and MS did something to turn them off while playing.

“You already have the best most optimized games, and software and games wouldn’t run as fast on other OS.”
I don’t know… Isn’t it done by game developers? So if we have the Linux version of a game and it’s slower, it is because devs didn’t work on it as long as on the Windows version?

          2. Maybe, but games are not identical on different platforms. They just look and play the same.

    2. Game mode just limit resources for OS and programs working in background to reduce their performace impact to minimum possible.

    1. There’s nothing much new, and I don’t see why you would “uninstall” option to change settings.

    1. Waste of time for those smartases who think that software tweak will magically improve performance.

  3. If you want it now just enter the Slow Ring.

Settings > Update & security > Windows Insider. Then check for Windows updates.

Then op out if you don’t want future insider builds. And the new Game Mode is something that will continuously get updated with new games support and performance improvements. It will never be “finished”.

    1. You’re gonna change your mind as soon as one big game you want to play rolls out and won’t be compatible with Windows 7 in 5 years from now.

  4. Now personally I haven’t had any issues with Windows 10 since the preview version, so I’m not sure what to say to this new update. I’ll see what it adds and then make an opinion.

  5. and it does absolutely nothing.
this is basiclly a plebian process lasso so you allocate games to have the highest CPU priority
you can achive the same results by turning off a lot of useless apps before gaming
