Apocalypse Now – Prototype In-Engine Video Released

Framestore Ventures and American Zoetrope have released a prototype video for Apocalypse Now. This prototype video features in-engine game footage and will give you an idea of what this game is all about.

Apocalypse Now will be an interactive recreation of Willard’s journey, as seen through a survival horror lens in which players with limited resources face unspeakable terrors. By choosing how to react to these situations, each player molds a unique version of Willard within the loose confines of the film story.

Apocalypse Now will not be Call of Duty in Vietnam, meaning that players will have to use stealthy tactics. Unlike a traditional RPG, the emphasis is not choosing dialogue, but rather actions and postures. Moreover, combat draws from survival horror to emphasize combat avoidance and stealth.

Framestore Ventures and American Zoetrope aim to raise $900K (so far they have raised $145K) and they have 24 days in order to meet this funding goal.

Enjoy!

  1. LOL, what engine is it using again? Looks like a CGI trailer from 2002… Hard to tell from the extremely low quality video source.

    1. Prototype Pre-Alpha sh*t slapped together usually looks like this, internally.

They make it all fancy-looking when they go public with it, not for any other reason, really.
