It appears that the PC version of Battlefield 1 got visually worse after its latest title update. According to a number of gamers, the latest update has downgraded the game’s visuals. Even though this looks more like a bug than an intentional downgrade, gamers provided some comparison screenshots in order to showcase the visual differences.
Below you can find a comparison between the game’s pre-patch and post-patch versions. These shots were captured by Arrogant_Amigo and as we can see, the post-patch version looks actually worse than the pre-patch version.
The post-patch version lacks tessellation on muddy terrain path, has a lower amount of terrain quality/decoration, as well as lower HBAO+, shadow resolution or shadow-draw distance.
As Arrogant_Amigo claimed:
- clearly lacks tessellation on muddy terrain path — see bottom left highlighted area
- lacks previous (pre-patch) anisotropic filtering/textures — see far right highlight on rock formation textures
- terrain quality/decoration lowered, notice missing foliage and plants — see top left highlight above the muddy path
- HBAO/shadow resolution or shadow-draw distance lowered, notice cluster of plants — see middle highlight above weapon
Squad-navigator has also provided a GIF comparison between the pre-patch and the post-patch versions of Battlefield 1, showing the exact same differences.
What’s really interesting here is that Battlefield 1’s forum moderator, LOLGotYerTags, has acknowledged the visual differences.
As LOLGotYerTags wrote:
“I know it isn’t placebo as it is an issue that has been brought up all over the place and I too can see it so it’s definitely not just you who is seeing it”
LOLGotYerTags concluded:
“There is obviously something causing things to not be rendered correctly in the render pipeline, Once DICE have found the cause though, I don’t think it would take too long for them to push out a patch to resolve it.”

Worst part is that I got no performance improvement with the patch even though they clearly removed gfx from it.
Same, my CPU usage still remains at 90 and dips to 100% at times. I only have Origin and the game open with no other software or processes running. That should not be happening at all, especially since it doesn’t get anywhere near that much for all my other games.
mine too but hell I don’t care game runs great
I don’t think that makes sense. The insane CPU usage is actually hampering people’s gameplay, mine included, as in it’s not running great at all.
i have i5 3470 only and game runs great, i dont care about 100 % usage all the time as the game is running great
Seriously, it’s time to stop now.
Srsly look online, I bet one of many cfgs people made will fix any problems, also post how “badly” it runs before complaiing in video form
For you, for others that is simply not the case and not running great for them. You are not the one who decides if it runs great for everyone. That is something you are going to have to live with.
if someone told you that their life was running great and was amazing, while your life was trash, would you honestly 100% fully care about their side despite the fact that yours is bleak?, most would say they wouldn’t, because they aren’t them, when the situation is on an even level, that’s when people start understanding and agreeing with one another.
It’s hard to buy this ???? because people just complain without any prove, and any research.
If you are PC gamer you gotta get used to dig around and figure out how to solve things, and often you can DIY.
“It’s hard to buy this ???? because people just complain without any prove, and any research”
Besides actual benchmarks and people all chiming in with their experiences?.
We don’t have to do nearly as much “digging” as we used to a decade and a half ago. Why do you seem so out of touch with knowing about PC gaming in 2016?.
Since taking a screenshoot became so hard? Weird days we are living, games using 100% of the cores so people cant take screenshots anymore…
So, you don’t want games to use all your cores? Isn’t that what we’ve been waiting for all these years?
I don’t think you understand the difference between proper optimization and a shoddy job.
Well I have 100 % almost all the time and it runs fine. It’s also not first game that ran like that.
Yeah I’m not really buying that.
I’d prove you but I won’t feel any sense of accomplishment for wasted time, and space on youtube servers.
And yet you’re wasting the time here and have so for hours. I assume this means you forfeit then.
hours kek
toppest of keks.
Stop shilling.
Stop looking at fkin numbers and play the game
if this is true i cant imagine what players with AMD cpus are going through. If you have a FX chip you’ve already been completely played this year with titles like tomb raider, dishonored and deus ex.
Frostbite is a really CPU intensive engine though.
It’s not been insanely intensive that it would put all i5’s out of commission, thus forcing all PC gamers to only use i7’s, which even those CPU’s are having issues with.
My cpu usage never goes over 40%
Some people have too many programs for their gfx running, and/or Windows 10. It’s not the game.
I’m with windows 7 and just have Origin and the game running, my OS is bare bones as is.
If your CPU has hyper-threading the reported usage is roughly 1/2 of the actual number, 40-50% usage would be the same as 90-100%
pretty damn dumb not to list your actual cpu for some context.
No need game runs great as it is
Agree with sun Streaker, it runs fine for you and that means it runs fine for everyone?. This is some kind of social phenomena…
Not only a visual downgrade but I’m getting worse performance
dont use dx12
I’m not.
I blame PS4 PRO
2016 has been one of the worst years in video game history. Congrats, everyone.
Doom, Dark Souls 3, Uncharted 4, Monster Hunter Generations, TW Warhammer, Stellaris, Deus Ex MD, Dishonored 2, Expansions for Witcher, FO4 and WoW, Grim Dawn, Planet Coaster, Gears 4, Forza Horizon 3, Fire Emblem Fates, Shadow Warrior 2, Tyranny… and so on.
Maybe my enjoyment this year has something to do with gaming on more than just PC. However even if i was exclusively on PC i would be pretty happy with all the games.
uncharted insults my intelligence
UNCHARTED POISONED OUR WATER SUPPLY, BURNED OUR CROPS, AND DELIVERED A PLAGUE UNTO OUR HOUSES!
Uncharted 4 was freaking amazing. One of the best made games I’ve ever played. The story, the acting, the sound design (God the sound design), the graphics, environments, all of it was far beyond practically any game I’ve ever played. This game WILL win many awards this year.
“One of the best made games I’ve ever played.”
This….. This is just sad, mate.
You need to play it. It’s good. When the rest of the world agrees with me, (ratings, rewards, etc), you have little to debate with.
I’ve played it (the entire series, even). It’s good, sure, but much like everything else Naughty Dog has done in the last decade, it’s overrated to hell.
As for awards; we’re not talking about respected institutions like the Oscar or the Grammy, mate, these are video game awards, they either go to the highest bidder, or to the game that’s made the most noise this year.
Just look at The Lost of Us. Is it a good game? Sure. Is it overrated? Absolutely. Does it deserve all those various awards? The technical ones, sure, why not, & Uncharted 4 will probably deserve most of those too, but story, gameplay, etc.-wise? Depends. The Last of Us deserves a few, sure, but Uncharted 4? Hell f*cking no.
The Last of Us was an Excellent game. And pretty much every person who I’ve ever met who has played it agrees. You obviously have a bias (even though you are “trying” to act like you don’t..) and it’s hard to take you seriously. I do agree that Bioshock was a great game… Bioshock 2 paled compared to the first though. The Uncharted series deserves every bit of praise it gets. The only people that would disagree with that statement are those that shill for “little guy”, no matter how undeserving he is. I say a good game is a good game. No matter who makes it.
“The only people that would disagree with that statement are those that shill for little guy”
Looks like you don’t even know what a shill is, check the mirror next time.an Excellent game with terrible AI is not excellent.
So, who’s “the little guy” supposed to be, exactly?
Just for the record, you understand, I’m sure.
There is a bias, when the media tell you whats great and whats not…
And actually nobody has said is a bad game, just overrated, can you understand that? because it seems the “little guy” complex is up to you…
The remasters of Bioshock 1&2 got fixed after the first patch indeed. More like a retextured than a remastered, but hey, it’s a good excuse to revisit Rapture.
BS2 has a nice spread usage of CPU cores under DX11 API, that’s interesting (not that it need much of CPU horsepower though).
Cheers ^^
P.S. Agreed.
Last of Us and Uncharted are actually good games, but bro, pretty overrated ones because the media told you so, same for Overwatch.
I go often to a console rent store, people play there those titles, and I dont know, maybe are just my tastes but they look pretty lineal, I think they actually dont add anything new to video games. One friend of mine play the last Uncharted on PS4, he did complete it in 20 hours, and what he told me it was more of the same, which is not bad but is nothing impressive tough.
I actually quite prefer a linear game at times. I like to go down that road and see where the developers take me. It’s all a matter of taste, but both The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 are in my top 10 games of all time. I like it for how they drive the story. It’s like playing a movie. I also like non-linear games, but usually not as much (except Dark Souls, I’m all about Dark Souls).
And no, it’s not because the “media told me to”. I actually am part of the media, unless you mean I told me to. Which, well then yes.
Uncharted 4 was a disappointment uncharted 3 was better and uncharted 2 is still the best of this series
Notice how no one ever mentions gameplay when talking about this sh*t heap of a franchise.
Ehh it was a good 10 hour campaign. it was probably in my top 10-15 of the year.
No.. just no.
No U. You should feel bad cause you’re a bad person.
LOL you’re a troll and the 8 people that up voted you should stop gaming this very second. Because they’re posers.
Doom = Mediocre but ok with s**t DRM.
Dark Souls 3 = heard good things about it, have it but didn’t play it yet, less content than previous games in the series.
Uncharted 4 = mediocre cover shooter, oh crap oh crap Citizen Kane of video games.
Monster Hunter Generations = umm, what is it ?
TW Warhammer = another Re-skinned TW game with tons of content behind paywalls and s**t DRM.
Stellaris = Amazing.
Deus Ex MD = 60$ broken early access game with microtransactions and s**t DRM.
Dishonored 2 = 60$ broken early access game with s**t DRM.
Expansions for Witcher = Amazing.
FO4 = Most disappointing Game of the Year.
WoW = CoW.
Grim Dawn = heard good things about it.
Planet Coaster = heard good things about it but s**ty devs behind Elite made it, so no thanks, also s**t DRM.
Gears 4 = dude bro shooter with all sorts of DRMs and restrictions because of UWP, nice port tho.
Forza Horizon 3 = broken port with tons of issues + microtransactions and expensive monthly DLCs and s**ty DRMs and restrictions, terrible support.
Fire Emblem Fates = is there any bad FireEmblem game out there ?
Shadow Warrior 2 = heard mixed things about it but still i may play it next year, nice optimizations tho.
Tyranny = heard lots of good things about it but have to finish Pillars first.
Sh*t, I forgot about the DRM half the time, good point! >.<
P.S. "WoW = CoW" – Lol'd.
😀
Btw, Wazzaap!
(Lol)
Nothing, everything is fine, how about you ? 😀
Much the same ^^
Spamming much ?
Get a life loser <3
i blocked him and my entire page is blank… ffs.
He is a nice guy and a friend.
You didnt play much man also you seem to have issues with DLC and DRM like that matters at all. I mean DLC is optional and DRM will never really go away.
As for a few bad ports the perks of PC gaming is that we can use third party programs and settings to help us out. i easily locked down both Deus ex and Dishonored with Rivatuner and got to enjoy both games to completion.
FFS how do you not know what Monster Hunter Generations is? its only the second biggest handheld game this year behind pokemon… I have over 200 hours in that game on one character lol.
I Actually play alot of games. DLC is optional but when they decide to cut content to sell separately, well you get less content and the rest of the game is behind a (sometimes more) paywalls. DRM must go away or atleast stop harassing users every new driver update, win update or 3 to whatever days being offline.
Well you can’t fix most of the bad port problems with third party programs, specially when those games are exclusive to such a walled garden like win10, you can’t do anything to fix games like Forza and the only way to solve some problems is by lowering the graphics (lol), you know because of it’s DRM and UWP crap you can’t access the game files and you can’t change anything, so community fixes will go out of the window.
I know what monster hunter is and really don’t like it, i was joking 😀
I honestly have zero opinion on win10 games since i refuse to install games off that client. I would rather own a XB1 just for the few MS published games lol.
As for third party programs fixing bad ports. Well its not exactly fixing. its making the game playable at barebones level. an example would be locking the fps to 30 with rivatuner so the game will no longer have harsh frame drops and stutters then using a controller to finish off the game. i did that with both deus ex and dishonored 2. I refused to buy no mans sky on PC so i have no idea how bad that port ran. everything else ran ok with the exception of XCOM 2 but thats a tbs and i can deal with lower fps.
BS
Nope
I believe you meant one of the best in video game history.
Content &/or gameplay-wise, it’s had some notable entries, even if there’s been nothing really LEGENDARY out this year.
On a technical front, it’s been near-exclusively nothing but an industry-wide EPIC FAIL! courtesy of one broken down PC game coming out right after the other, so, yeah…… “one of the best in video game history”? Not really, no. Not by a long shot, either way.
Shadow Warrior 2, Battlefield 1, and Titanfall 2 are enough for me that 2016 was much better year than 2015.
5
years old console gamers also report this on they playstation POS but that normal as it dosent have the power for ultra graphics the pc has.
the game was running brilliantly why downgrade!?!? is it because of the POS PRO?!
im ready to bet they updated pc version with the same assets of the ps4 pro because of lazyness!!!
again consoles and lazy devs ruin pc gaming as usual
You sure do have your tin foil hat on eh.
Do you blame consoles for everything that goes wrong in the world? CONSOLES DID 9/11!!!
well weird the downgrade happened immediately at the same time of the ps4 “pro” patch its like they just used the same assets and shoved it on the pc patch code
so no tinfoil just lazy developers being lazy by prioritizing consoles then giving second thoughts about pc…i guess they forgot pc gamers are nitpicky and are known to pay attention to minor details
EA isnt Ubisoft they wouldnt ruin the PC version to make Sony happy. Its a bug.
It’s an unacceptable bug, not to mention the seizure inducing texture flickering introduced by the recent game update on multi GPU systems, no official response a week later.
Are you implying that there are acceptable bugs?
That one quest in that one area in that one game, which only triggers with that one specific set of actions, using that one, specific hardware-software configuration, as well as the latest set of [insert] drivers?
;D
Are you implying that every single bug and glitch is equal and equally affects gameplay or your visual experience?
Only dung beetles. They clean up the poo. The rest can die in a fire. Except maybe jumping spiders, as they are always smiling.
MultiGPU setups are for ships who like to spend more money to get more problems
Did I ask your opinion on multi GPU builds? Every Frostbite game has had perfect mGPU support, this game had perfect mGPU support until the new patch turned it into cancer. They didn’t bother with QA.
What kind of ships are we talking about ? battlecruisers ? Aircraft Carriers ? Battleships ? Tradeships ?
But I was told by fans that it’s a legit “tailored for PC first, high end demanding game”.
Maybe, just maybe it’s one of EA’s usual debacles where it’s bugged and needs as good few patches before everything reaches a smooth level (that should have been in place for week one).
Despite the recent patch, there are still people (myself included) that haven’t had much done to reduce CPU usage, Funny thing is, every other game out there that I’ve played allows me to have at least 2-3 clients open and sometimes even a web browser to boot, BF1 gets me at 90% CPU usage with just Origin and BF1 open and nothing else running.
it’s called optimization
Maybe, just maybe you should feel bad.
Feel bad for what?.
Maybe its really a bug man.
It’s highly likely to be an error on their part. The downgraded visuals, saturation and other issues that plague the game, show us that it’s not the game that’s demanding, it’s their shoddy craftsmanship. Dice have been known to rush out BF games and then spend a year or two patching them fully and eventually getting them to a state that should have been reserved for week 1 release.
This is such a bitter post.. maybe gaming isn’t for you.
Welcome to the internet, if you cannot stand that comment maybe you shouldn’t use it.
For real. I mean, what are these people playing?
Better games than these, maybe?
What games are you enjoying? Just to get a feel for what you like.
Right now I’m enjoying a fresh Shadow Warrior run in preparation for my Shadow Warrior 2 clear (yeah, I”m a bit behind at the moment), & I’ve my eye on another Crysis (OG) + Warhead (probably) clear before the end of the year in celebration of its 9th anniversary (there’s a new Texture Pack Mod I want to try out).
On the Multiplayer front, Rainbow Six: Siege just got a new update, so that’s great, & in the long term, I might end up snagging Hitman on this Winter Sale. I’d love to get Deus Ex 4 as well, but in its current sorry-as-sh*t state it’s just not worth it.
Then I’ve got various other backlogged games I want to either 100%, or just get through, you know how it is – Space Marine, for example. I recently 100%’d Mad Max & Shadow of Mordor, of which I can only recommend Max. Mordor’s Nemesis System is great, but it’s also extremely aggravating, & the gameplay needs some work for a Batman: Arkham ripoff.
I also have a semi-active EVE Online account (used to play WoW, quit years ago, once it was clear Blizzard had no intention of reversing their downward slide. Haven’t touched a single Blizzard product since Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls went to sh*t back in…. 2015? I forget), so the latest round of newly-launched changes might tempt me back for some fun soon (EVE, not WoW). Other than that, I might end up re-playing the Darksiders Duology if the upcoming Darksiders (OG) remaster is actually good, since I’ve yet to touch the Darksiders 2 remaster (yeah…… >..<
Other than that, Space Hulk: Deathwing looks interesting. EYE Divine Cybermancy (same devs) was great, so I've some hopes for it. If I'm lucky, it'll deliver, if not, well, wouldn't be the first time. In regards to upcoming titles; I look forward to the day Microsoft finally brings Halo to the PC, so I can finally "finish the f*cking fight."
I value quality over quantity, in regards to both gameplay & story. I like difficulty (played Demon's Souls & Dark Souls both on the PS3), JRPG's (Dragon's Dogma & Shadow of the Colossus, for example), "old shool" RPG's & FPS's (been playing Quake 3 for 15 years, on & off, & DOOM for even longer), hack-&-slash, tactical shooters, etc. though I like to find time for a good Call of Duty Clone (Crysis 2, for example, fails as a Crysis game, but it's got some good gameplay moments as a Call of Duty Clone, or even Spec Ops: The Line, which also has a great campaign). I'm not the biggest fan of RTS', though I've played my fair share, & I find the current state of the AAA gaming industry to be utterly atrocious.
Oh, & I play a bunch of various indie games, needless to say, but this is long enough already without getting into those too. This is probably too much as it is, really……. My bad ^^
Those games are bad and you should feel bad.
:O
🙁
You need to get a life buddy….
Got one, it currently comes with a lot of downtime…… Most of it non-optional, unfortunately >.< So yeah, got to fill the time somehow 😛
What exactly do you dislike about the new doom? I played it and found it to be great. Best shooter for me so far this year. Haven’t played any of the old doom games though yet. Also, I finished almost all those games you mentioned and honestly some are pretty mediocre. Not saying they are bad but far from amazing. Darksiders for instance, is a solid series but suffers from too many problems. For example Darksiders 2 can basically be summarized as go to this area, talk to this guy, get item but to get item you first need to get 3 other items. It’s basically the same thing over and over again. Still a solid game though.
Space Marines is a case of a dev trying to blend two genres (shooter and hack’n slash) but failing miserably in their attempt. I think I stopped playnig that game after about 5 hours. My point is that it’s really all subjective man. Some games you’ll find atrocious while another finds it amazing and vice versa. And I disagree about Mafia 3 being a SJW game. We can’t get to the point that a game is classified as pandering to SJWs JUST because the protagonist is black. The devs at least crafted a great background story and narrative and developed the characters well to simply pass the game off as being SJW. Something like Watch Dogs 2, that I can understand being called SJW yes but not mafia 3. But that’s also another issue right now. People almost always find a motive now in games/movies etc if it features a non-white character but that’s off topic. Surprisingly, we play a lot of similar games. You are just waaayyy pessimistic though lol
It’s not that it’s bad, actually, on its own, it’s a solid shooter with real old school elements, it’s just that, as a DOOM game, it simply, gloriously, fails from a gameplay perspective.
Yeah, I don’t think I mentioned any “MUST PLAY” titles (except maybe Vanquish & DMC4, of the top of my head, since I’m too lazy to look through my post), but I wasn’t listing my Top Games of All Time, anyway, just what I’m doing at the moment. I play a lot, doesn’t mean I consider it all to be quality.
I agree, Mafia 3 isn’t some clear-cut case of SJW’ing (like, say Inquisition, or whatnot), but in the current climate, that’s how its perceived. Like I said to the other guy, in the other post, it’s actually a relatively unique game in the sense that it allows you to experience pre-Civil Rights America through a minority. Unfortunately it’s not exactly a Mafia game either, though, so the mislabeling that the publishers &/or developers did to it backfired even further, as now it’s being seen as “another IP degrading itself into SJW pandering.”
If it was its own thing, I think it would have actually been rather well received in general (also if it actually had better visuals, for one thing). As it is, though, it’s being judged as a Mafia game, which it simply is not. It’s the same argument as with Crysis 2, for example; Crysis 2 is a fine enough Call of Duty-style shooter, but it’s not a true Crysis game, so while it would have worked fine under the moniker of “Crysis: New York” or some such (ergo, as a spinoff, ala-Battlefield: Bad Company), as a major entry in the Crysis IP, it’s just a flat-out EPIC FAIL, & that’s the root of the problem; reboots, major entry (numbered) sequels, etc. continue to deviate from their predecessor’s established paths, & in doing so, irate more & more people, since they’re almost exclusively inferior entries to their predecessors. The Mirror’s Edge reboot, for example. Who wanted that? Nobody. ME2 would have been fine, with some gameplay adjustments to shore up ME1’s faults, but nope.
Reboot. That, & Publishers piggybacking what should be separate IP’s onto existing ones, because they believe they’ll sell more that way.
How exactly does it fail from a gameplay perspective? I haven’t played the previous doom games at all so I’m legitimately curious because I want to know if you have some biased nostalgia there. Not that it’s a negative thing necessarily, I have it a bit (dks1) but imo it gets in the way of looking at something more objectively.
DMC4 is by far the best in the series with regards to gameplay. The story is weak but they really went all out on developing the combat mechanics. I’d suggest the special edition though. Hell it’s worth it for vergil alone. As for Mafia 3, yep I agree, it was basically just released at such a bad time with all this political and social crap going on.
Your last point, I agree to a certain extent. I get what you mean about devs building upon their titles instead of outright rebooting their games or even “soft rebooting” it if you know what i mean. For example, Dragon Age 2. It plays so different to the first game that one could call it a reboot from a gameplay perspective. I said i agree to an extent because sometimes in such cases, you should honestly just judge the game for what it is. that’s what i do. If I look at Dragon Age 2, at first I really disliked the combat but that was mainly due to me expecting it to play like origins. But eventually i realized that the combat began to grow on me and once i began judging it for what it is, the gameplay felt fine. it’s how you said yourself, on it’s own the games you mentioned are still basically good games. and that brings me to my point. yes technically we normally judge games based off their predecessors but shouldn’t it all ultimately come down to the game simply being a good/great game? at the end of teh day shouldn’t it just be a more simple approach and just ask yourself “did i enjoy this game”? I mean, is it really THAAAT bad to change up a game? just give it some thought. Changing it for the worse is bad yes but if devs develop an equally but not necessarily better gameplay system, isn’t that still okay? it’s similar to final fantasy. they play completely different from each other but each battle system has its’ own identity and strengths,
But i get that VAST changes can be bad as well. Take the new god of war for example. The game is extremely dumbed down compared to the original god of war and even that game was dumbed down. it could be decent however, that remains to be seen but i doubt it. then again, that comes down to my personal preference as the current style isn’t something im a fan of. basically what im sayinh is, i get your point but i don’t think it’s a clear cut issue really
So I guess I missed something, because my post’s pending approval.
Anyway, fair notice, since I’ve noted pending approval replies don’t show up in notifications afterwards.
Yeah, you’re right, we shouldn’t be criticizing these unoriginal, boring, cinematic, linear, &/or broken, inferior shit*fests that AAA’s keep shoving down our throats, we should just be blindly going out, buying them, consuming them, & then bending over with a big “PLEASE SIR, MORE, SIR!” sign, right?
I mean, that new God of War game – OHMAHGAWD, THE FEELS, BRAH! Right? Right? After all, even though, Kratos was originally designed as “THE MOTHERF*CKER”, I’m sure his new role of “caring daddy” just fits him & his IP so much better, so thank you, Naughty Dog, for being the reason why Kratos got this delightful change of attitude.
Hell, I think I’m going to go get me the Collector’s Edition, even, because this thing, yeah, it’s just going to be THAT GOOD.
Addon
-Grim Yawn
-Planet Tossers
-Forzan Vertical
-Waifu Hunter Genderations
-Total War: War Warhammer of War
-Shadows San Francisco Warriors 2
-Tyranny Lanaster
“Tyranny Lanaster.”
Gold ^^
P.S. Tomb Raider Lara Croft took home the Golden Joystick Award…..
Yeah, I know, but what can I say, I just had to.
I wouldn’t even care about the detail changes. I’d refund the game over the goddamn DESATURATION. It was actually pretty before. I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually changed something significant about the lighting / shading and the desaturation filter is there to cover that up. To make it less obvious in comparisons.
REFUND. DEMAND MONEY BACK. They sold you a colorful game, then removed the color from it. Oh, who am I kidding. People who bought BF1 don’t have any dignity any way.
I was also wondering wtf was going on with the colours. I was on Ballroom Blitz and wondered why the hell the colours looked so washed out, glad I’m not the only one who noticed this.
I don’t know the game looks well, specially mountains level is very vibrant. If saturation is only problem you’re having, there are other free ways to make picture more colorful.
Look at the screenshot comparison, numbnut.
Regarding DICE investigating. They are investigating the ps4 pro downgrade not PC.
Wow… you really are special….
Wow… you really are re*arded….
Gee, thanks, I guess?
Not the first time when DICE does that….
well you seem to struggle to know it and that says something about you
Not really. I think it’s you who struggled to play the role of the picture I posted.
no, you are just dumb at this point
Says the dumb one that’s wasting his time.
says dumber dumb one who’s wasting his time too but thinks otherwise
Mirror retorts don’t work here buddy. Still wasting your time.
Ahaha! Thanks for the laughs! Good play with words/names. You wield your sword well, sir. 🙂
Ta 😛
Getting older knowing a little of politcs make us bored and pessimistic, but games in general are not for us, you have to look by a childrens point of view, if you go back in time and reanalise the old games all of them had some political bias too. You were just innocent.
Oh definitely, games, movies, etc. (the best of them, at least) have always had either blatantly obvious subtext, or hidden meanings, hints & questions that leave you thinking afterwards. Hell, even Opera, & by extent music, to a degree (assuming you pay attention to the lyrics). Political views are just about always affecting art in some form of another, I’d say, even.
And to be fair, I’ve no doubt not everything that’s currently coming out is intentionally SJW-pandering, but in the current light of things, that’s just how pretty much everything comes off, intentionally or not, in whatever form it’s presented.
Actually, to be fair, Mafia 3 gives you a near-unique experience of pre-Civil Rights America from the PoV of a minority, for example, which in itself, isn’t really a bad idea. The problems that stem from calling the game “Mafia 3” (particularly the “3” portion – though yeah, separate argument & all), & launching it right now, in this post-GamerGate heated mess, though, stand hard.
As for Battlefield 1; yes, there were Africans, & Indians, & Algerians, & oh-so-many other ethnicities fighing in both World Wars, but in the case of the African-Americans specifically, their presence in WW1 was so minor that DICE’s take, in a post-GamerGate world can really only come off as “Social Justice Revisionist” rather than actually “historically accurate.”
I mean, these people specifically stated they wouldn’t include women, because “we don’t think that would be realistic”, except realism doesn’t really seem to be a particularly high priority, so….?
Unless of course it’s Homefront you mean, in which case, I only put it that way because the original game had this one line in its trailer that stuck with me over the years, & which I still find hilarious; “The only good commie, is a dead commie!” which also needless to say pretty much accurately captures American Heartland sentiment in regards to the Reds, & probably the entire Homefront IP by extension. That, & the fact that I don’t believe anyone was ever really shouting out for a sequel, never mind a soft reboot of the entire IP.
I do disagree on one bit, though; games in general are for everyone, of every age. Sure, a kid will find far more amusement in the cartoony graphics of Mario or Donkey Kong compared to your average adult, but eh. The gameplay is still solid on the older entries, & that’s the important part for games that rely on that, rather than story. It’s only the industry that’s started pandering to younger audiences specifically in the last decade, all because they think that’ll make them more money – they didn’t use to compromise so much, placing mainstream pandering over quality gameplay & stories.
Yeah, i think you better indentified what i meant than my own explanation.
Nowadays i can hardly see superhero films or anything that relates me to SJW or any other movement i can’t agree with.
Not sure if those genius directors are gonne, or if i became much more concious about those things.
To me the true genious is the one who is capable of hidding his bias on very specific underlines and at the same time presenting a great story.
That goes for games or movies.
You seems to give more value to the story on games than gameplay, graphics, etc while i do prioritize gameplay and graphics over the story.
I look to see what they want to deliver with a game. Uncharted, for example, is basically an interactive movie, & it’s designed in that exact matter, ergo, the gameplay is an afterthought, so it should be primarily approached & judged not on that, but rather, on its story, & its technical achievements. God of War, on the other hand, could barely give a sh*t about its story; it’s all about the hacking & slashing, with a LOT of QTE’s mixed in there, sure, but seriously – who actually cares about the underlying storyline? You’re playing some REALLY ANGRY guy out for revenge, period.
Mass Effect (OG, mostly, since 2 butchered itself & 3 divided it up into “your choice”) attempted both; the original presented an interactive story which played out according to your choices, with “you need to put some actual thought into it” style gameplay, rather than “SHOOT ‘EM UP, B*TCHES!” If you market the story on something, I’m going to actually pay attention to it. If you don’t, then I’m probably not going to look too closely at it.
DOOM (OG) hardly has a story. Yes, it does technically have a backstory, but even now, so many years later, I hardly know it. Quake is the same. When I play through Quake, I don’t look for the story, I look for the gameplay, because that’s what these are, they’re gameplay games, through-&-through. Yes, Quake 2 has the Strogg, & something, something, something, something, something. /Care.
I also expect modern titles to look good, of course (there’s really no excuse for Mafia 3 looking the way it does, for example, not even “consoles”), but I have no problem going back to older entries. Actually, I find 16-bit titles to be a sort of unique art form, even. Yeah, it’s weird, I know.
It’s the same with movies & TV shows; some of them are just dumb romps, others try for deep meaning & fail, others just are what they are, whatever that may be. The problem with TV is, eventually it ends up pandering, since it’s a medium overwhelmingly slave to ratings. Look at Game of Thrones; I can literally tell you how it’s going to end, right now, 2 years early, because the fans have already decided it. The Walking Dead – Rick will never die. Daryl will most likely never die, etc. etc. etc.
The concept of artistic integrity in Hollywood has been all but annihilated by this point in time, courtesy of either sellouts like George Lucas (see his “edits” to Revenge of the Jedi for the sake of pandering to the kiddie audience), or just Studio interference, really. Either that, or, like in the case of Battlestar Galactica, for example, they just never had a long-term vision in the first place, so a great series that should rightfully have entered the annals of [Sci-Fi] history ends up shamed to hell because its creators started asspulling about half way through it, all of which culminated in the EPIC F*CKING ASSPULL that was the Finale.
Both, I think. I mean, let’s be honest, who, in the modern world, actually compares to Ozu, Kurosawa, Hitchcock, Kubrick, etc.? Not anyone born in the last 50 years, that’s for f*cking sure. Nolan used to, yeah, up until Inception, at least, but now he’s off doing dumb turds, so who’s left? Sure, you’ve still got good directors (ex. the Coen Brothers, Soderbergh, etc.), especially outside of Hollywood, but the “Gods” are dead, as they say. Take Citizen Kane; it lays out a story, a mindset, an ideology, a warning – a timeless warning, & yet, today nobody would have ever created it in that specific form. Or 12 Angry Men, or hell I don’t know. Just pick a classic, any classic, really, but back to Kane;
Today, Citizen Kane would be riddled with hand-holding & shallow-end in-your-face “psychology”, because according to Hollywood, we’re all just a bunch of dumb c*nts who don’t care about the “inner depths” of sh*t, or whatnot. Or, rather, that’s what their analysts tell them, “because Action is the biggest market!”, & the same thing is happening to video games, too; they’re listening to the analysts, who tell them “this is what sells best right now” so that’s what they do – they make what sells best, so now we’re getting 50 “make you feel good” experiences (with a side of in-your-face Social Justice, of course, since this is a Post-GamerGate world) after 50 Call of Duty Clones now, because they’re the new “in”, just like Comic Book Movies, & Cinematic Universes, all “because Marvel.”
Some interesting cultural references you have, how old are you?
Over Nine Thousand? ;D
Na, I’m 25, but I grew up around people who valued non-Hollywood Cinema, so I watched Seven Samurai & Bicycle Thieves before Terminator, even (not to say that Hollywood’s all bad – I also saw Kubrick’s 2001 & Star Wars Original Trilogy before T1, for that matter ^^). That, & I started gaming with DOOM, Quake 3, & a GBA in the pre “Internet Guides for Everything” era, so I suppose one could say I’m of a slightly different breed to most people my age, or in my general age group, even. Hell, my first console experience was on a PS1, ffs (sheer chance that, to be fair, as he also had a PS2, but you see what I mean).
Good point though; it’s sad to admit, but an overwhelming majority of under-30’s today really have no idea what half of the above mentions are, whereas if you mention Fast & Furious or Call of Duty, suddenly it’s all “oh yeah…. [insert].” >.>
Yeah, you clearly are a different breed, our generation became zombies.
I noticed the problem in my first operation after the patch. Before the game had photo-realistic graphics on ultra. Now it looks like its on medium. I hope they fix it soon.
Now you can see what I see xD

You must have so many friends that like to spend time around you
Ha 😛
The patch also nuked SLI completely. Total flickering mess. The pre patched version ran better and looked better. WTF were they trying to do?
Fix 10s of 1000s of bugs with one patch.
no issues here with the fx chip 8320e and a xfx rx460 4gb, battlefield and doom running on ultra settings
