Mad Max & Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Are Both Powered By Denuvo Anti-Tamper Tech

A lot of rumours surrounded the release of Mad Max and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain about their DRMs. Well, today we can confirm that both of these titles are using the Denuvo Anti-Tamper technology; a tech that was present in Lords of the Fallen, FIFA 16, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Batman: Arkham Knight.

While some gamers claimed that Denuvo Anti-Tamper was responsible for a lot of stuttering – as well as underwhelming performance – in Lords of the Fallen and Batman: Arkham Knight, we can safely say now that Denuvo Anti-Tamper was not the culprit for those performance issues.

After all, both Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Mad Max run ridiculously amazing on the PC.

In similar news, a number of PC users also claimed that Denuvo Anti-Tamper was responsible for breaking their SSDs. As Denuvo has already told us, this is far from true.

“Completely wrong rumor which is repeated over and over although many 3rd party tests (as well as we) state that our solution does not perform read / write operations to the HDD (hence we have no negative impact on the lifetime of SSDs or any other hardware component).”

Last but not least, our sources claim that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has been cracked.

Lords of the Fallen, FIFA 16 and Dragon Age: Inquisition enjoyed almost one month of being uncracked, however it appears that this won’t be the case with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

    1. well it is either cpy or 3dm, point is it is pointless buying unfinished games and when the groups crack those games the updates have been released. So one again they dont stop the majority of pirates who just get the game whenever it is up in torrents sites and dont ever bother buying it.

The ones who got the money and want the game for free when it is out though…they are fooled into buying an unfinished game since they cant pirate it, as they deserve.

  1. So they want me to have to put up with not just Steam but Denuvo ? Yeah I’m not going to be doing that. One layer of DRM is enough to piss me off, two just makes me throw up my hands and say to hell with it.

          1. nope, that peace of filth (white knighit of always online – a**s kisser of EA – lol) deserves it

          2. well, that re*ard attacked me for no reason few months ago and he was wrong, then i’m using his method against him. justice demands retribution 😀

          3. Yea.. American “justice” system sure proves that to be the right way.

            Child’s justice / revenge

          4. I assumed you’d answer like that. It’s like a cute child who lost his temper. Also, you’re wrong. You need to come with actual numbers to prove your point. All he can do is, there is no numbers, I win. Until you come with proof and sources of Denuvo actually getting in the way of gamer’s.

          5. wow, it’s like there is no end in your stupidity. listen you peace of s**t, it’s a DRM and DRMs are in the way of games, why is this so hard to understand ? it’s anti consumer, it’s like treating consumer like criminals, was that hard ? the thing i don’t understand is why you AHoles are defending such a thing ? maybe unpaid shill or maybe just working at that hell hole.

why do i need to come with actual numbers again ? to prove that peace of s**t DRM of yours in anti consumer and it’s bulls**t ? GTFO stupid chimp.

          6. Well, just look at SecuROM, you can’t play games with SecuROM in Windows 10 now and don’t say no one plays those games, it’s not the point. I can’t play my retail version of Crysis in Windows 10.

          7. SecuRom is DRM tho, and it is dependent on your OS, as it’s straight out software running on your computer. It wasn’t exactly difficult to know if a game was using SecuRom. When Denuvo stops working, it’s on not because the OS don’t support it anymore, it’s because the OS don’t support the game anymore, which will be a major difference.

SecuRom do run on your computer after all. And I’m all for hating these anti piracy solutions as they are sh*t.

Also, Steam might suddenly not run on Windows 11 anymore, or whatever version in the future. It’s not something I’m too worried about, as there will be workaround for that problem, just like there is workarounds for SecuRom, it’s not ideal by any stretch of the imagnination, but software(something Denuvo is not) stops working on new operating systems if it isnt’ maintained. All we need to do is look at a lot of old games, they simply do not work today, without a workaround. GoG base their entire library around these issues.

          1. i don’t need to show a re*ard like you where you are wrong, the reason you defend such an anti consumer practice bulls**t is enough. specially when you are defending that turd always online crap from your beloved EA. i have DAI and it’s unplayable for almost 3 months because that peace of s**t and it needs to validate every god damn 72 hours for me after being offline and it fails to do so. see ? you are happy and excited to be treated like a criminal and you are defending it, that’s whats wrong with a mentally ill person like you.

          2. Still waiting for you to prove it gets in the way. I feel you’re trying to avoid because you cant.

            tee-hee

          3. why should i prove anything ? it’s a DRM you re*ard, it’s already in they way. how about you prove that it’s not in the way ? can you ? ofcourse not, so stop shilling you peace of s**t.

when you defend an anti consumer act, you are an anti consumer/consumer. you are an unpaid shill.

          4. Well, Denuvo is actually no DRM. This just shows how much knowledge you have about the subject – none.

          5. i know what bulls**t it is (you know! every damn article about it) & don’t give a f**k wht you reta*d shills want to call it. since when these kind of bulls**t anti consumer practices have this many apologist ? GTFO but before that, bend over slave!

      1. DRM is a way to enforce their software licence at the software level, there is no need for it to get in the way anyway but it can cause issues as we’ve seen. If the OS blocks it, like Windows 10 and the older anti-tamper sofware.

      2. All DRM does eventually. The people behind Denuvo never actually cleaned up the mess they left with Securom which is now not supported by windows 10. Now the only way to play some of those games is to use cracks created by the same people they are trying to thwart. These companies need to go because they are crippling generations of software to try and get an extra buck in the present. They don’t care about the games, the people who make them, the people who play them or any of that as long as they earn a little more in the here and now.

  2. While I do like to own a cracked copy as well (so I know for sure I can play the game if my internet connection is out and I haven’t installed the game), I consider the combination of Steamworks and Denuvo to be a rather mild combo. It’s worse when it comes to EA and Ubisoft-titles that requires me to install Origin and Uplay, which I seriously hate the thought of having to use.

    1. Origin is fine. It’s Battlelog that pisses me off.

Never had any problems with Uplay either, but I don’t buy games on Day 1.

    2. EA and Ubisoft bad for forcing you to install their software but valve is not bad for doing the exact same thing.
I’m tired of these double standards. If it’s valve, then everything is great but when someone else does the same thing, they are the devil.

  3. well f**k this anti consumer bulls**t. MGSV already cracked but still no buy/pirate for me. mad max use the exact same protection so it will be cracked in a few days if they want to crack it. but funny part is, BatmanAK’s latest update uses the same version of denuvo as MGSV and MM (new and updated version of denuvo), it took them 3 months to update that broken peace of s**t and didn’t fixed a thing but updated the DRM.

F**k everyone who support this bulls**t, didn’t they said they are happy with GZ’s sales on PC ? then why the f**k they pulled this out of their a** ? i bought GZ to support a game in the series which was released on PC after more than a decade, instead they shoved this crap into our a**.

    1. Talk about over reaction

Thousands are having no problem enjoying both mgs and mad max even on modest hardware

And here you are screaming like a mad b*tch for something you don’t even have 1st hand experience

      Lmao

      1. Sh!ll account, 5 posts 4 which were made mths ago….lol….
at least do not make it so obvious…..all in support of DRM, Denovo etc….lol
You work for them or EA? or what?
        Pathetic.

Batman Arkham Knight – Denuvo DRM Could be the Culprit Behind the Performance Issues on PC

          Frank 3 months ago

You fool, there has been no proof ever that any mentioned game actually suffer performance issues because of the “DRM” this is as nobody has the actual stripped version alias “Denuvo Free” to compare against, just think before posting such garbage.

          SSD damage? Kill me.

In terms of DRM thats Steam not Denuvo.

Pirates struggle cracking Denuvo “Anti-Tampering” Solution for Battlefield Hardline

          Frank 5 months ago

Get your facts straight, this so called “Encryption” is not an encryption its yet a protection which may use encryption, however the encryption part is not what makes it difficult, its the obfuscation and code virtualisation used.

How The New DRM Denuvo Might Be Damaging Your SSD

          Frank 10 months ago

You didn’t even do the testing yourself, get lost. I just checked with Process Explorer and it had about 100 disk writes after 1 hour game play you are just another pathetic journalist who doesn’t review sources or even bothers to test it himself.

    2. Those b*tches who made SecuROM are clearly don’t want to give up easily. And if it isn’t enough, game publishers are now supporting them. Not sure what they’re trying to achieve.

      1. more control, denuvo is one thing that always online crap they are trying to push so hard (this gen) is a new level of F’ed up, specially for single player games. they are trying so hard to protect and save their AAA craps by these kind of things. generate hype, restrict consumers, push pre order crap, then sale as many unite as possible on day 1, force people to buy DLCs, cash in, good bye and wait for the sequel.

        1. Best way to fight piracy… No-DRM…. Make the price of the game more affordable. Lets say $30-$40 max Way more people would buy it then. Not everyone is entitled to $60. F’ Pre-orders… Did it twice and both games was broken as f’!!!!!

          1. exactly, bough DAI and BAK both are broken, DAI can’t run it anymore due to update problems, BAK is just broken. on the other hand witcher 3 had no drm, sold more copies and it was cheap and i bought it and worked since day1.

          2. yeah, i am using CPY crack and i own the game, i’m using it because since april my game won’t update, origin wont update my games anymore. i said F**k it and i used CPY crack and i’m pirating DLCs as well.

          3. The price should be $6 or less. No DRM required, you only need an e-mail account to play online, but single player, offline and no DRM.

  4. Please correct, “was protected”.

Phoenix aka Su Fei Fei from 3DM confirmed denuvo bypass on MGS:TPP and MM. First “patch” will be released soon

Mod Edit: For obvious reasons, links were removed

  5. moderated…lel

btw, denuvo isnt cracked as it cant be cracked…it’s not a DRM. It creates a kind of virtual machine to trigger data randomly to check if it’s modified..But it’s bypassed, i just posted “your” sources..

        1. But it might have some bugs that prevents us to finissh the game. Battlefield that got cracked too it has a bug in Episode 8 where the game stop resonding.

          1. this has the same problem, as far as i heard it has CTD problem after prologue, also they fixed that bug in BFHL almost a week after.

          2. Crack is not out yet because it is not done yet. It wil take more time now than Battlefield because this new version of drm is harder to crack.

  6. Good on Denuvo though, they’re getting more business so that means jobs for them(apparently they were crackers right?).

  7. Sources? What sources? There’s no crack for MGSV anywhere, of course there’s spyware and other crap passing up for it.

  8. Never understood people’s obsession with DRMs. Witcher 3 sold best on non-DRM platform (GOG), more than all other versions combined. There goes “DRM helps sales” theory down the drain.

    1. That’s probably because CDPR owns GOG and they pushed hard to sell it on their platform (they didn’t want to do business with GMG to have less competition)

      1. Don’t think that’s the only reason. I for example always go for GOG version of every game whenever possible. If it’s Steam exclusive then… Steam.

        1. Yeah but the real fact is that cdpr gain the trust of lot of gamer (i know lots of that changed today).
Real fact, witcher 3 finished and drm free got leaked on torrents sites before release, but pc gamers bought the game anyway… and our platform sold more than any console.
Drm is a fail way to protect a game because the lack of communication with pc gamers and the fact that most studios are paid by consoles manufacturers to break pc versions of aaa games
Its all about being honest and try to push consoles games, make then better. Not the other way around…
For example. I dont buy any game if jay wilsom that worked on Diablo 3 is involved on the project.
          F@#k that looser 🙂

          1. Easy dude. The PC is just a platform, not OUR platform. Don’t fall the ego road like many people did.

I prefer the PC to consoles but, at the end of the day, they don’t define me. It’s just a machine. Don’t hate other people for using consoles and don’t feel superior because you use a PC. We are all human. We are born the same and die the same.

          2. Even consoles are computers. Anything with an operating system and storage of some sort is a computer.

          3. Consoles sold 2/3 of the copies. PC sold only 1.3 millions out of the 4 millions. Numbers from the first month.

        2. Not saying anything against GOG, but they did pushed hard their service with Witcher 3. As far as I know even the retail version has GOG instead of Steam.

And that thing with GMG.. let’s just say that it didn’t paint CDP in a good light.

          1. valve has been pushing their steam since half life 2 was launched. How is it wrong when GOG does it but not when valve does it?
I understand why GOG didn’t want to sell green man gaming the product. There’s a lot of people out there that doesn’t know about GOG (I’ve met many) and they are trying to make their platform known so, I don’t see how “it doesn’t paint CDP in a good light” specially when, like I said, valve also did it all the time and nobody complains about them.

          2. I didn’t say that pushing it hard “doesn’t paint CDP in a good light”.

I said that their attack on GMG aka GreenManGaming “doesn’t paint CDP in a good light”. CDP refused to deal with them directly, so they had to buy Witcher 3 keys through different channels, and after that CDP attacked them openly, and said that GMG is a fraud. The store is actually has a very good reputation and would never do anything illegal.

I never heard Valve attacking a retailer, digital nor physical.

In other words, read properly before necroposting.

  9. I don’t understand publishers who use DRM on their games. The DRM always gets cracked, so it just ends up being wasted money on their part.

    1. Publishers know it will be cracked. The goal is to get sales from people who are too impatient to wait for a crack.

      1. That’s how micro-Transactions work too. Man i hate Konami right now… I bought this game because of what they did to “A HIDEO KOJIMA GAME” If it was up to him that option wouldn’t even exist in phantom pain.

    1. exactly, if i knew DAI will use this crap i wouldn’t buy it, same as batman but my uncle bought that turd but i could have stopped him

  10. so most games with Denuvo had optimization problems…now 2 new games with Denuvo don’t have it…at the same time…so instead of having no issues it seems they rather fixed it, but claiming there wasn’t any in the first place. i can’t be certain though.

  11. Dude, are you high or something?!

this is by far the most ridiculous and stupid thing i’ve ever read, just because two games were optimized and run fine that dont mean Denuvo doesnt affect performance, the key thing here is today’s hardware with 4-8 cores CPUs and large RAM compensate the performance downgrade and thus for you NOOB it runs good.

Denuvo decrypts and dump main exe instructions at run-time, decrypting has a performance hit whether you like it or not NOOB, so this place unncessary overhead on hardware, the game could run better without denuvo and this can be significantly noticed on older hardware.

you need to get fired, what a stupid writer.

    1. Well, they were probably paid by denuvo devs to say that.
I will never understand why people believe in the media.
I mean, the media, press or whatever is a business. They don’t do what they do for fun so of course their words are for sale (take gamespot for example)
I guess people need to believe in something/someone and the media tells them what they want to hear.

  12. Irony is they actually are the old SecuROM devs. Don’t understand how steam can even allow securom games given that they don’t work on Windows 10.

    1. Really? Are you talking about old SecuRom games, or the newer Denuvo games. Because they work quite well on Windows 10. Windows 10 on the other hand has some issues of its own.

  13. oh another account. hey stupid f**k i don’t care about problems, i care about drms and publishers treating their costumers like s**t, of course you don’t care because your used to it, little s**t, now bend over for more, your mom is invited too.

    1. Only true idiots allowing inconvenience over something they allegedly don’t even have makem them appear stressed or mentally f’ed and wrecked on a random internet site

And meanwhile I’m enjoying the games

      Good luck with your ranting

I will continue buying games as long as they met my criterias, seeing people like you on the internet is just another exclusive bonus, ha

  14. crack v1 has been released. only for win7 and it crashes after prolouge. you have to put 100% save file to be able to continue your game or just wait for crack v2 etc… crack is based on v1.005 and it’s 1.5GB

    1. Why the crack is so big. Still not fullly cracked. What will happen when the game gets its next patch/DLC/update? Pirates will have to make another crack then it is possible that Denuvo must have improved till then to make it even harder for them to crack the next patch and update., What to do now? Buy the game or wait till all DLC is out and then downlaod it?

      1. crack is around 70mb, that 1.5GB include all of the previous updates. nope crack is still in beta but it works, from chapter 1 till finish looks like it don’t have problems. well crack based on the latest update and i guess there will be no DLC for single player anyway, they want to push MGSO and by the looks of it this new & improved version of denuvo was easier to crack than the first one, took them less than a week to bypass it.
i don’t know, i’m just following the news and i’m happy to see it cracked, don’t have any plans to buy or pirate it. my money is on fallout4 and JC3.

        1. I checked lots offorums and sites and they say that they have issues with sound some others say that it still crasth after prologue some other say that they get white screen. No one has finished the game pirates yet to confirm that it works for begining till the end but the issues i mentioned will prevet many people from ejoying it. I will buy it when retail version releases here in Greece on September 22. Max releases retail this Friday here so i might be getting it on Friday or Saturday. Due to Capital Controls we can not buy anything digital with paysafe card anymore until they lift them. So no steam buy for us only retail.

          1. yep is has problems but in a week of two they will fix them. that white screen related to time zone, if you change your date to +8 beijing it will fix the white screen, also people with phenom CPUs can’t run the game. and prologue crash is still there, for now only with 1% save file you can bypass that.

  15. good, bend over there are more to come slave and don’t forget that you have to defend. no get the F out re*ard and jump of the cliff as soon as you saw one.

  16. i just bought Mad Max retail from my local computer shop. I got tired of waiting for a fully working crack to get released. That proof that Denuvo works! Metal gear retail is coming on 22 Septembser here in Greece if not all issues are fixed till then i am also buying it!

    1. The Witcher 3 was awesome. Some say that the graphics got downgraded, but not the story. The story is awesome and a shitton of choices in conversation and wheter someone lives or dies.

  17. NFS 2015 always-online with Denuvo because of piracy, Autolog, its snapshot-rewarding system and in-game-video-at-all-times-bullshit sucking away your internet? Unacceptable, sack-of-shit-of-a-boy of EA. Hey, CPY, think you can crack NFS 2015? I’m counting on you. Please, I also need the daily updates with crack for them.
