F1 2014 versus F1 2015 – Old-Gen versus Current-Gen F1 Games Comparison Screenshots

Since our PC Performance Analysis for F1 2015 has been slightly delayed, we decided to put up F1 2014 against F1 2015. F1 2014 is an old-gen F1 game, whereas F1 2015 is a current-gen F1 title.

In order to have a proper comparison between these two games, we used the exact same tracks and weather conditions in both of them.

There is no doubt that F1 2015 looks better than F1 2014. While some effects (like the dirt on tyres) have been reduced, the whole lighting system has been overhauled. Not only that, but F1 2015 sports improved environmental detail (like the grass sprites).

However, it appears that some of the road textures are of a higher resolution in F1 2014 than in F1 2015, something that definitely feels kind of weird.

F1 2014 is on the left whereas F1 2015 is on the right.

  1. The tree LOD looks awful in the 2015, sound of the engine is good, just bear in mind that in the real sport, they changed the engine sounds to make them sound more beefy because last year they sounded so poor with the new engine changes. The rain in 2015 looks good in regard to flowing over the car. I like the cockpit in the 2015 version.

Being an F1 fan myself I wouldn’t minding giving it a try but from what I’ve heard it’s buggy so I’ll wait for a few patches first. :p

  2. F1 2015 have better lighting and rain but its blury as fuck
    F1 2014 have better textures,AA, and performance 😉

  3. just like batman, more blurrier than last game, lower texture quality, runs worst than last game but better lighting. also 30fps replays

    1. Nope, the game looks far better and there is a SMAA option which makes the game look nice and sharp, it’s the “TAA” option that make it look blurry.

      1. we can’t call those lower quality textures far better but yeah i suspected that blurriness to be some sort of AA. overall it looks better but meh

        1. Bear in mind John’s screenshots are based on his card having 2GB of VRAM, max settings use about 3GB VRAM at 1080p. I posted some shots above showing performance as well.

          1. :)) last F1 game i played was F1 2013 for 10min, i can’t stand racing games with minimum of 15laps every round

  4. F1 2014 = graphics/performance= perfect(100+)
F1 2015 = graphics/performance= good to very good if you own i7(60-70+ FPS here)
