In an interview with our dear friends over at PCGames, Warhorse Studios’ Daniel Vavra revealed some of the concerns surrounding the development of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. As Daniel said, the team is currently receiving lots of messages from happy fans, asking them to take their time and polish the game before releasing, however the team is afraid that some gamers may misinterpret some of the game’s features that have been already announced.
As Daniel said:
“So far we’ve been receiving positive feedback. Fans often say <<Please take your time and release it later when the game is polished and not in order to hit a deadline>>. The only thing I’m a little worried about is that some players may misinterpret some features and have high expectations for them.”
Daniel then explained this by giving an example. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s trailer, Warhorse Studios claimed that the game will feature epic battles. And while the game does pack some epic battles according to Daniel, players may have misinterpreted this and expect dozens of such battles (perhaps even with strategic elements). That’s far from what Warhorse Studios is creating, thus some gamers may get disappointed by the end product.
Daniel added:
“The story that we tell may very well contain only two or three such epic battles. Kingdom Come: Deliverance will not be about the heroic leader – you are just a soldier and like all soldiers, you must survive these battles. The castle battles are meant to be some of the game’s Story highlights, and not a feature that will be repeated each and every half hour.”
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is currently planned for a Summer 2016 release, and its beta phase will begin later this year!

Just give us a beautiful and highly polished game and that is all we ask.
That’s all you ask, maybe. Personally, I prefer good writing, solid combat mechanics, varied and viable character builds and choices with consequences.
Graphics are secondary.
I have put all that under highly polished game.
Polishing means tweaking and improving an existing feature, but if that feature isn’t there to begin with, there’s nothing to polish.
I guess you are right but there is a backlog of literally hundreds of classic PC games that have good writing, solid combat mechanics, varied and viable character builds and choices with consequences but their graphics have not aged gracefully so people overlook them now. Graphics may be secondary to you but for the vast majority of the gamers graphics are the primary factor and everything else is understood to be of high quality as well otherwise why are the even making a AAA game.
I know, I know… people just want pretty things to look at and that stupid trend crept into the RPG genre years ago.
It’s like buying a car for its looks, instead of its engine, driving, and other actual important features.
this guy gets it ^^ looks like I’m not alone on that after all, I thought I was the only true hardcore gamer left.
The Witicher 3 is really going to set the bar high this year. I can imagine all other open world RPG games will be compared to it. Kingdom Come will definately have it’s work cut out.
it is a multi platform and it is not Bethesda. i have a feeling it won’t be as famous as Skyrim among casuals.
It may not be as famous, but it certainly seems like it’ll be a lot better.
offtopic, but if i could just have a decent stalker game, i would be so happy.
Seriosuly though open world is the future.
all i ask from them is a good story and good music as long as the rest is acceptable.
As long as any OFFENDED Political correctness police doesnt attack them on twitter to add black guys in a historically accurate game for the sake of diversity.
In before Anita Sarkeesian
Homosexuality was a crime against humanity then, too (which means they’ll probably include a gay character in there somewhere).
Just focus on storyline. There is no need to add extra big battles just to make some haters happy. Where it makes sense, sure go ahead.
Will Be GREAT !! I Love the Lock-Picking -> Best concept, better than Skyrim and Dying Light
Compare it to games that are feature light and especially one more concentrated on making a good modable base game rather then going for actual gameplay… People need to stop comparing to Skyrim “Its Open world so Skyrim” is getting old.
I hope they do some decent marketing for this game otherwise I doubt it will sell well, they need to build up some nonsensical hype like the witcher 3 is doing now or the console kiddies won’t think its a good game.
They really need to market this game properly, I really want it to do well, as I think it fills a gap in the market. The realistic non-fantasy medieval RPG elements are what sets it apart from the crowd and should really be pushed when advertising the game. As long they nail all the main elements, combat, horse riding, stealth, choice&consequence etc it should sell really well especially if there is a gore system. Dismemberment always seems to attract more attention 😉
“The castle battles are meant to be some of the game’s Story highlights, and not a feature that will be repeated each and every half hour.””
Then why advertise them? “Mass Effect 2 will contain Alien Pole Dancers” isn’t a f’ing tagline because it is not the meat and potatoes of the game. This company sadly seems so far up their own a*s to the point it feels like I am listening to a Hipster in Denial.
