Resident Evil 4 HD Project – New Screenshots Show Unbelievably Detailed Textures (WIP)

Two modders are currently working on a HD Texture Pack project for Resident Evil 4. While an official HD version was released, the textures that Capcom included were a bit underwhelming (to say the least). And – as most would expect – this duo has managed to surpass the development team by creating proper HD textures for this fourth part of the Resident Evil series.

The team has recently released some comparison screenshots between the original and their HD textures, as well as comparisons between the original, the official HD and their own HD textures.

As the team noted, it is currently developing the new textures based on the Ultimate HD version of the game.

Those interested can go ahead and download the first release of this texture pack that focuses on the prologue of the game.

Resident Evil 4 HD Project is still far from being completed. According to the team, 30% of the game’s environmental textures were completed back in October.

Still, this project looks really promising so here is hoping that the duo will keep working on it.

Enjoy!

  1. The quality difference is not even on the same plane of existence, that is how much different it is. Superb job.

  2. These textures look amazing, keep up the good work. I was already planning on another playthrough of RE4 but I think I’ll wait until this mod comes out.

    1. Texturing is pretty easy to do in CE and UE, I really don’t know how the devs got the texture placement so wrong, I mean even I wouldn’t make that mistake. The 5th UHD version on the second row looks awful it’s embarrassing.

  3. Albert HD textures were much better than RE4 original and Re4 HD textures, much before HD version were released.

    1. With modders it’s always a labor of love and passion. They also do not
have any deadlines to worry about and can take as much time as they want
and need. Professional teams reworking somebody elses original content
often just don’t care about it and they get paid anyway, so they do the
least amount they can possibly get away with.

That’s why there’s such a drastic difference in quality.

        1. That’s a long time.

I agree that they totally deserve to be paid and do their hobby professionally but the sad fact is that it would compromise the quality of their work.

Not being paid gives them freedom. Money always comes with a leash.

      1. yup modders do stuff because they want to. They are passionate and have talent. Most developers working on AAA industry today are talentless lazy or just tired.

  4. This project does look rather promising, Now just need someone to make a frame rate unlocker for us 144fps monitor users and I may finally consider buying this game.

  5. Yeah, modders make PC gaming shine. Currently playing Doom 3 with mods. D3 original / BFG (pretty much the same) vs Wulfen + Monoxead + Sikkmod.
