Modder ‘gabdeg’ is currently working on an RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for the classic Carmageddon game. While there is no ETA for when it will come out, the modder has shared a video that can give us our first look at it. So, if you are a big Carmageddon fan, you should definitely check it out.
As I said, this RTX Remix Mod is still a WIP. In other words, this video does not represent the quality of its final version. And, as you will see, there are a lot of visual issues right now.
For instance, the pedestrians lack lighting, and they are all in black. From what I can see, there doesn’t appear to be any PBR materials. Plus, the water does not look that great.
Still, even with all those visual issues, the game can look cool with this RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod. In a way, it reminded me of the 3DFX GLIDE version of Carmageddon 2. Or at least that’s what immediately came to my mind after watching it.
All in all, there is a lot of potential here. So, here is hoping that the modder will keep working on it.
If you are into RTX Remix Mods, you can find similar ones for a lot of other titles. For instance, you can find such mods for Black Mesa, Star Wars Republic Commando, Need for Speed Carbon, NFS: Underground, and Manhunt. You can also find more for BioShock, Morrowind, NFS: Underground 2, Star Wars Jedi Outcast, Max Payne, and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.
In January 2024, we shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, and Garfield Kart RTX Remix. Then, in February 2024, we shared videos for Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, and Midnight Club 2. Be sure to also check out some early RTX Remix videos and screenshots for Fallout: New Vegas, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, and COD 2.
And that’s not all. Modders have released demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Deus Ex, Mirror’s Edge, Tomb Raider, and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have the RTX Remix Mods for Painkiller and Left 4 Dead 2. Unreal Tournament 2004 and Unreal Gold have also gotten the path-traced treatment. Half-Life fans can also play the game with Full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing. Lastly, you can download these amazing Path Tracing Mods for Doom, Doom 2, Quake, and Serious Sam. These last ones are among the best Path Tracing Mods you can find.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
